Metallica Say Follow-Up to St. Anger Will Arrive in 2008

7/3/07, 9:17 am EST

In an interview at the Rock Werchter Festival in Belgium over the weekend, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said the band had finished recording backing tracks for its ninth studio album in early May and will resume studio work in August. Ulrich estimated the record will be completed in October or November, but said he didn’t think the group’s first new album since 2003 would be released until early next year. Though hesitant to assign a sound to the still-untitled album, Ulrich did say, “It doesn’t sound anything like St. Anger to me, it’s probably a little more dynamic and a little more varied. The one thing I can tell you is that [the songs are] quite long.”

I hope they bring something up good..

they were once a really great band. then the Black album came out. that was pretty much one of the last good albums.

they had a badass lineup back in the day..
Metal up your ass, Kill Em All, Master Of Puppets, Ride The Lightning, And Justice For All..
those were badass albums that kicked everybodies ass.

then the black album came out, it kinda didnt sound like something you would really hear from metallica, although it was still heavy in a way.

then out came some albums that really fucked theirselves over.. Load, Reload, S&M…

Then they did the st anger album, it sounded a little better than the last couple of albums they recently did (the song St. Anger so beats Hero of the Day.. lol) because they said they didnt like the sound of their last albums so theyare trying to go back to the old sound of theirs… but it still didnt get much respect back for them..

because the S&M, Load, and Reload albums made alot of people lose alot of respect..

i just hope that this album will be at least somewhat like the old metallica.. (no orchestra, please…)… i hope they go back to being like they used to be.. i miss the good old fashon long heavy music that literally rocked your fucking ass away.

I Love St Anger .. I think it was creative and crazy - Master of Puppets is the shit album, St Anger has nothing on Puppets also Ride the Lightning onther crap record ….. I want the guys now to release “St Anger 2″

from the beginnig! | 5/2/2008, 11:27 pm EST

To you all that are haters, you only wish you could write one song half as good as there worst. Why don’t you go post your opinion on some sight where it’s actually relavant, and not on one where your opinion is totally irrelavant!!

tallica | 4/22/2008, 11:13 pm EST

You Metallica haters can bash all you want. But the truth is when this album comes out its going to sell regardless of quality. I mean it is going to SELL. Why? RESPECT. Metallica fans have a passion for this band more than most do, we have seen them evolve and will continually shell out cash for their concerts and cds. In this internet day of torrents and mp3s I could easily download this album upon release.. but why? Their music has always meant more to me than some free download… oh and you guys do know that they don’t have to make music anymore right? They are plenty rich, its quite obvious that they want to make music and are very passionate about doing so

Otsego | 4/10/2008, 2:00 pm EST

I love Metallica. Have for years, but St. Anger Was a really lame album and all the songs sounded the same. It was an embarrassment.

Lets hope Metallica can redeem themselves With this new one.

SuckIt | 4/8/2008, 8:13 pm EST

Woah….Craig, racist much?

Can’t wait for the new album despite idiot fans like him. I also seriously doubt true metal heads will ever wonder who Slayer is, even in the distant future.

Krawl | 3/22/2008, 5:39 pm EST

good album or bad album a fan should stick behind the band if they like them, i have been a metallica fan for a good 13 yrs and i didnt jump ship when they sued napster, and i didnt jump ship when they released st anger, a band needs to change up from time to time, it would get old for them to release the same sound each album, i just hate it how people switch their minds as fast as they do when it comes to music, if your a fan stay a damn fan, its not like they did anything to anyone directly, its what they felt like recording, alot of emotion went into st anger, go watch the some kind of monster dvd and get a better perspective.

PHANTOMGRANT | 3/7/2008, 3:17 pm EST

If some of you guys want to hear Master of Puppets nine times, try rewinding it and listening to it nine times. If you don’t like the other stuff because you think it sounds gay, think of this, there is nothing gayer than bitching about something that you think is gay to try to convince people that you also think are gay to agree with you. If you don’t like, don’t listen to it, and stop wasteing your time bitching.

Craig | 3/7/2008, 2:01 am EST

All i ever here is someone shitting on metallica and frankly I am tired of it. No one can deny that nothing will ever top the master of puppets or ride the lightning days…but those are gone. However I am perplexed by bashers of st anger…frantic, some kind of monster..this album was clearly their best since the blk album and instead of bashing em maybe you should go turn on your radio and listen to that regurgitated hip hop bullshit…does hip hop have anything original in it except a bunch of no talent niggers taking real musicians music and adding their own rants to it? I mean hip hop what its it really? its music girls can fuck to real good but its not music…. I am disgusted with the crap out there and i ll take a real band like metallica who stands the test of time over some gang banger who can pretend to be a modern day poet any day. By the way for all you 30 something metal heads who trash metallica….remember this is our flag bearer like it or not…in another 20 yrs no one will ever remember slayer, anthrax, overkill, nuclear assault and countless others….our music seems to be dead except for maybe bands like korn so SHOW SOME FUCKING RESPECT FOR METALLICA !

Ali | 2/28/2008, 2:16 pm EST

all metallica real fans must wait til the new album ready to sale , metallica shouldn’t change style from 80′ and black album style to low style like st . anger . but that is a great band in rock & metal history . i hope this album new begining for metallica life

the soulless ginger | 2/20/2008, 4:56 pm EST

Its a simple thing. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it. But proclaiming my chem. romance or fall out boy as better than metallica? I wouldn’t even try to compare them because its like comparing apples and oranges.

Allen | 2/13/2008, 1:51 am EST

You know is I see alot of this a band makes one bad album and retards bash them. They suck, its over, no more good albums to come. But wait I do seem to recall Megadeth did it, Slayer, Anthrax, hell even Black Sabbath. So all you Metallica haters can fuck off till you learn real music. Bring on the new stuff can’t wait.

bignoise | 2/9/2008, 7:10 pm EST

united ambitions is really not that great ocmpared to their old album…come to think of it its really bad compared to megadeths old work.

Metallica rules and is the #7 most selling band in the history….and if u catch a preview of the new metallica sound in youtube u will be surprise that the old metallica is back ! CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS ALBUM WHEN IS IT COMING OUT ?

Anonymous | 11/27/2007, 4:00 am EST

I heard the album name is “no life till metal” can anyone confirm this?

duecey | 11/22/2007, 12:23 am EST

This will be a great album and I expect it to get a ton of awards at the next grammys. BTW have you heard the new Megadeth album, United Abdomnayions? Not to throw you off topic or anything but that’s the best metal album I’ve heard in quite some time.

brad | 11/20/2007, 3:54 pm EST

metallica has been a band for over 20 + years they know what they are doing. With time comes change. If they stayed the same for 20 years dont you think that that would be annoying? St. Anger was heavier than other stuff they put out in the 90’s. Metallica is My favorite band in the world and whatever they do I will back it up 100%. Throw them some slack. If millions of people are buying their albums than they must be doing something right.

Damage Inc | 11/20/2007, 3:45 am EST

Don’t hate. Metallica is awesome and you can xpect some more butt-kickery out of this next album. Think you know better? How are you CD sales going…

Metal Ears | 11/12/2007, 1:04 am EST

I swear some of you spanks must be deaf! Please explain to me how Load and Reload sound THAT much different than Black? Oh wait, I bet that shit’s bein pinched off by these angery hippies who think metal is just long ugly hair. Oh my god they cut their hair! Load and Reload were great, just like all the others. Granted, St. Anger, not my favorite, just different. Now that I think of it, the losers that think Metallica is over, probably listen to that disposable, no talent crap you hear on headbangers ball. You know, they play a single beat and three cords while the lead growls out of his ass. It all sounds the same hacks!!
Whew….I feel better now!

jim dunlop | 11/8/2007, 9:04 am EST

ive been into metallica sice justice ,i bought my first guitar in 89 and jammed along to their songs and still do of course, they have changed my life .one thing i hate is when ppl bag them from the black album onwards, they have had there ups and downs as i have , and everyonr else has so fuck the past and heres to the future.anyway. rock on.

ian from canada | 11/7/2007, 11:38 pm EST

Metal Dude | 10/27/2007, 5:48 pm EST

ok well guys i wonder what metallica’s new album is like they fucked up a lot and i wanna see if they learned from there mistakes.

Metallicafun | 10/22/2007, 10:55 am EST

You all guys suck….not Metallica…what a fuck are you doing here when you don’t like them and why are you waisting time to erite how bad they are???I just don’t get you! And you truly don’t have respect…Metallica did everything, all their toughts and cool riffs and all that on their first 4 albums…These albums are masterpieces. No other band have ever relased 4 albums on which EVERY, FUCKING EVERY song is so fucking good. And you can’t say it’s not truth. Than when Cliff died they lost their heart….It’s good they are still alive these days…It’s just because Cliff would want them to not qiut. So they lost much with Cliff but they still could make same music as they did before. But they just don’t want to. They already did it. They made metal. They don’t have to prove anything to anyone. They proved themselfs enoug. They can’t go back to the past. It’0s begid. They can’t have 18 years again. That is past. They are older married people now. With kids. So they are trying as much as they can and want. But the thing is that they could make the most gratest album again. And truly metal album. But that’s not poin. They alredady made 4. They just put everything they had on that albums. An of course Cliff was alive. Now Trujillo is not bad as all. His solos are pretty much good. And he plays with finguer onla like cliff. And if you didn’t noticed when some kind of Cliff came in the bad they are some kind of bac. See their last concert in Berlin. It’s fucking awsome. They are like old. But no one asks from tham to be 18 again. That alreday was before. And if you wasn’t alive and couldn’t feel them and be on their concert that….who cares…you can at least respect tham for what they did…and respect them for what they are. You don’t need to say craps about tham because you are 15, 16, 18 or I don’t know when Metallica already passed their best day. If you don’t like new stuff than don’t listen to it. Listen to old stuff. But you can’t bring old 18-years old Metallica guys back. You can’t live in past. Live on. Move on. Be happy that one of the creators of metal still live on and still are alive…Metallica Rocks!!!!

Dave | 10/14/2007, 2:49 am EST

Im really excited for their next album. They better not be lying about early 2008 release. They say its like Master mixed with the Black Album….I hope this is true even though that could just be a sales pitch…Either way it will be better then St Anger

Metallica™ | 10/11/2007, 11:18 am EST

if you guys hate Metallica like you say why are you on a metallica page postin your hearts out must be you really love them ….METALLICA dicoverd metal while bands such as megadeth follow Metallica’s style for years then you say they are better b/s Metallica are not stuck in the past they can move on and create the music they feel and not what they felt any band can make an album that doesnt agree to thier fans does that make them suck ……ofcourse not they grow as they play and the new stuff is a new stepp in the growth of Metallica just like Jason said are metallica sell outs?? yes they sell out every show in every city they go too can you call that a bad album ??if the band toured the st anger album only they would still sell out every show …..how is that bad …..Metallica Forever …..Nothing Else Matters.

metal master | 9/26/2007, 9:54 pm EST

Wes. | 9/15/2007, 1:47 pm EST

You know, times have frigging changed. Why are people always BITCHING about Metallica’s music, and comparing it to the old shit? They have written and performed some awesome music in the past. It’s like every hater out there want’s them to go back, once again, and do it all over again the same, just like it was done before. What would be the fucking point? What else do they have to prove to anyone? Any human being with a brain should know that they’ve done it once, they can damned sure do it again. If you wan’t the old shit, which is awesome!, then put in one of there older albums and jam out! That is, of course, if you are a so called die-hard fan or whatever. I mean, what are you expecting, for them to re-reproduce Master of Puppets for example, and put it out as a new album? Like I said before, times have changed. They are older now, and they have different goals that they want to achieve. If you want to jam the old stuff, by all means, do so. But if you want the new stuff, wait for it. The guys have went through hell, been there, and done that. If you don’t like the way they are doing things now days, why don’t you put out a kick ass metal album! Any real true fan knows that Metallica sure as hell can! They have nothing to prove now. What is the point in re- doing what they have already done? I have just as much respect for ST. ANGER as I do Kill-em All. You know why, because Metallica did it!! The new album to me, will be just as great as the rest..

Retards on Message Boards | 8/15/2007, 4:50 am EST

Messages boards are evil. They let any idiot say whatever he or she likes and get away with it. Like honestly there is a fall out boy debate on this page. There is also this notion that the black album was bad? That it was commercial? It was commercial because it was good lol. You don’t make an album, slap a commercial label on it, then have it magically sell a million albums.
The songs were slightly shorter than the older albums. WAAAAHHHHH! I can’t take this. Thanks to you people I will never look at another forum.

The Black Album, and everything after it, SUCKS…..their first 4 albums are as good as real metal will ever be….since the Black Album came out they have made a concerted effort to make as much money as humanly possible….I don’t fault them for it, they dont owe me anything, but they haven’t been a good metal band for 15 years

Metallica died after the black album and were never heard from again. They should have changed their name after that. They tried to regain some sense of coolness with St. Anger which had some good riffs But james voice is shot. Now they see that MEGADETH came out with an awesome album and are trying to live upto that. we shall see. The only way its gonna work is if james gets a voice transplant and lars gets his head out of his a$$. I feel bad for Kurt……

sage | 7/14/2007, 5:24 pm EST

I could never buy a Metallica album after their Napster suit. Yes there are copyrights, but when you’re becoming the mouthpiece of the biggest group of sleezeballs in the country (record companies), you’re showing your true stripes.

metallica forever and ever | 7/12/2007, 11:42 pm EST

metallica is the greatest band ever all their albums have been fantastic and remember that METALLICA IS THE BEST OF ALL THE BANDS IN THE WORLD WE’LL BE WAITING FOR YOUR NEXT ALBUM THIS COMING 2008 !!!!! GOOD LUCK !!!! METALLICA FOR EVER!!!

Aaron D. | 7/12/2007, 3:04 pm EST

I for one really loved Load and Reload. Those albums had a sinister, seething feeling, especially “Fixxxer.” That song gives me goosebumps still. Of course one could argue that they had too much country in their sound or they’d gone alternative, but at the end of the day I couldn’t care less because they were full of good songs.

St. Anger was a disappointment, obviously. I liked a few tracks, but overall, it just wasn’t what I was expecting. Honestly, the lyrics and singing were fantastic in my opinion. The production is where it faltered, with the “ping” drums especially.

metallica rules | 7/11/2007, 10:05 pm EST

for the people dissing metallica (best fucking band EVER) you suck!!!! for the people applauding metallica your awsome

Dave | 7/10/2007, 6:24 pm EST

There’s been enough time now to realize what is up with Metallica’s lack of epic music for years, and it’s the fact that the Metallica that was beloved by the metal community quietly died with Cliff Burton. The band has limped on ever since. He was the one member of the band that understood song structure. He was the one directing the complicated arrangements. You can’t take a huge influence out of the band and expect things to turn out okay.

I have always loved the band and have enjoyed all their music. They were an Iconic Great Metal band, and then they were a good rock band. I’m sad for them because it seems like they’re lost- like they can’t remember why everyone loved them. A lot of people can’t understand why there’s always such a backlash from any Metallica news. What you need to understand is that the people most angry loved them the most. It hurts them to see the best of all time in metal diluted down to “good” rock.

Every album that comes I think every true Metallica fan is holding their breath for a true return to form.

Skinner | 7/8/2007, 9:52 am EST

Yeah they’ve aged and so do we all, although we always want to rekindle that youthful memory of the bringing-up of Metallica. All you have to do is continuing respecting that for who they naturally are. I’ve seen them 8 times now,(5 from the floor–will always be the floor), and I will admit James cannot hit those exact notes the same anymore;ie the old sound. But one thing still remains, the memory. Major props. I’m glad Metallica still exists and I need more shows!

Rick Rubin Is to me, the worse producer ever.

His mission in this world is to make every single Band he touches commercial. RHCP, And Lately Linkin Park and others, True, he made some great albums but he is another one mis stepping all the way.

This new album, I won’t have an opinion until i have heard it at least 5 times, and digest it.

St anger was a radical change from the Load, Reload formula of Experimental music to …Soft trash. Just wait and see the sunrise. Maybe, we will have another Black Album in our hands. and that folks is good for Everyone.

And no, MCR is just “Fashion” right now, (even tho the band is good) it won’t last, like all the bands that are the same. Just following a temporal trend.

Metallica? still fills stadiums EVERYWHERE in the world. So…

PeteHagen | 7/3/2007, 3:26 pm EST

Here’s where everyone hates on Metallica. Any talkback on any website with an article about them is full of bile and venom from the “fans” who are mad they never made a sequel to Puppets or Justice. Everyone knows that St Anger was a stinker overall, but hey, guess what? St Anger was their own punishment for the Napster fiasco. Now that that’s all in the past, maybe they’re ready to come back to greatness. They have the right guy on the boards, so keep your fingers crossed. (But, at the same time, don’t set your hopes too high… they’re not 25 anymore…)

King of Vomit | 7/3/2007, 3:10 pm EST

I just heard the entire new album and I must say these guys seem to have changed their sound altogether, sounding more like Coldplay now with no heavy guitars and Hetfield singing about love, relationships, pretty flowers, the environment and rock and roll. Damn, screw this!

marnr67 | 7/3/2007, 3:05 pm EST

My Chemical Romance? What are you, high? Solid band… but not metal.

And another thing: good luck explaining to anyone with decency that Ratt, Whitesnake and Motley Crue are better than Sabbath, Maiden, and Motorhead.

Snuffleupagus | 7/3/2007, 2:58 pm EST

Metallica is one of the greatest bands of all time. Them, Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Ratt and My Chemical Romance are the top 5 greatest metal bands of all time man!

Lol. sad that so much of you have lost your musical taste. i’ve heard a bit from the new album and read some things too. apparenlty it will be there good old stuff and Kirk will get his solos going again. as for St. Anger and the criticism it’s a good album, not their best obviously but for what it was created it made good points.

matt | 7/3/2007, 2:52 pm EST

st. anger was the musical form of the ebola virus

Steve V. | 7/3/2007, 2:46 pm EST

I’ve been listening to Metallica for almost twenty years. “St. Anger” was the first disc they put out that I found that was not of the same quality as virtually anything else they’ve put out since “No Life ‘Til Leather.”

C’mon, guys…everyone makes a mis-step or two in their career. Metallica went through a bad period in their musical careers, trying to make music that was “for the masses,” if you will, and not for the metal fans that eventually brought them (slowly) to the mainstream.

They’re in their 40’s now. Do you think they still want to play stuff like “Battery” and “Jump in the Fire” at every single show? I’ll bet not. It’s not because the music isn’t good, but that they band has GROWN UP, which a lot of you idiot posters on this board need to do. James and the others in the band have GROWN UP over the years. They have different interests and concerns that they want to write and sing about than they did when they were in the 20’s. Why is that so bad, or so hard to understand?

Personally, I’d LOVE to hear them come out with a hyper-speed metal version of “Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star.” LOL!!

Hell, as long as the producer pays attention to the tracks so Lars’ snare goes “SNAP!!” instead of the “PUHHH!” that it did on every track of “St. Anger,” I’ll be happy.

... | 7/3/2007, 2:27 pm EST

Metallica has to be one of the worst metal bands around. They have one guitar riff they play over and over. Oh, and James can’t sing.

Big Fat Bald Guy | 7/3/2007, 1:56 pm EST

I agree with Gus. And Justice For All was last great album they put out. When they put out “Enter Sandman” with lyrics like “…and you’re off to never, never land” you knew it was over for them. :-O

There needs to be another GNR Metallica Tour. Seeing as Lars sat in on drums for a Guns show last year maybe friendships have come to fruit again?
Perhaps the Suicide Girls could open, Izzy Stradlin, Sebastian Bach, GNR and then Metallica.

Rick Ruben is pobably the best producer out there, but I don’t beleive that even he can save Metallica from the hole that they have dug themselves into. They stopped being a heavy metal band after the Justice album and then they turned their backs on their orginal fans with the Napster suit, which didn’t make a hell of a lot of sense, because Metallica used to encourage Bootleg videos and recording of their concerts back in the 80’s. Shit! They made a fucking video of Bootlegs! Not to mention they got popular by re-recorded cassette tapes which were passed from fan to fan!
I am not looking forward to this CD!

metal fan | 7/3/2007, 1:28 pm EST

need to bring Jason Newsted back to Metallica that’s why St. Anger sucked and also Bob Rock must have been producing Bon Jovi crap

metal fan | 7/3/2007, 1:25 pm EST

Metallica is and will always be the greatest metal band in history just like Sabbath and Pantera!

jungleland | 7/3/2007, 1:17 pm EST

St. Anger was kinda lame, but don’t count Metalica out just yet

Frankenstump | 7/3/2007, 12:49 pm EST

Metallica stopped being interesting 16 years ago and have in the ensuing years become almost as cheesy as their name. Hopefully the new album will be a return to what made them great, but I doubt it.

Dorkus Mallorkus | 7/3/2007, 12:45 pm EST

Who are Metallica?

Battery Acid | 7/3/2007, 12:40 pm EST

I’m creaming in my pants in anticipation of this new Metallica CD coming out. Oh baby!

Killa | 7/3/2007, 12:37 pm EST

Metallica has had trouble staying as relevant as the guys from GnR.

Moist Vagina | 7/3/2007, 12:35 pm EST

In other news, a new Poison album has just been released and it friggin rocks.

Jesus Christ | 7/3/2007, 12:32 pm EST

¡Realmente tengo gusto de Metallica pero pienso Romántico Químico y Pánico! En El Disco esté mucho mejor y más pesado. Quién cuida sobre un álbum nuevo de Metallica.

koto138 | 7/3/2007, 12:26 pm EST

St. Anger is really the only bad Metallica album out there. The problem I have is the reversal the band pulled saying upon the albums release that it was the best and greatest, then a few months later saying that the next album would have solos and a different sound than the last album. I applaud all of their other albums, I think they should keep on with the continually changing sound they have been cultivating over the years. Load was a shock at the time, but I really like some of the tunes. It’s a natural progression to slow down and change when you get bloated and St. Anger proves that when you try to revert to your faster days you fail. It is the only album I can’t listen to and sweet god I have tried, I just can’t do it. If the new album doesn’t try to sound like an old album I am sure I will be happy with it. Now where is that GNR record???…

El Rollo | 7/3/2007, 12:23 pm EST

Paul McCartney RIP…..

ERL | 7/3/2007, 12:22 pm EST

All Metallica ever needed to do was stay the same. It was obvious with St Anger they were trying to fit in another mold. They struggled to make an album that sounded like what they were hearing on the radio. What Metallica needs to realize is, they have been the mold for all these new bands. Make another album like you just got off the And Justice For All Tour. If Rick Rubin can’t bring them back to glory, no one can. Yes guys, guitar solos are still good for music.

Mark | 7/3/2007, 12:19 pm EST

Why did people turn on Metallica after the Napster situation? If someone tried to steal your money, you’d be upset too. Do people not really understand what a copyright is?

LongLiveRock | 7/3/2007, 12:13 pm EST

Other than the whole Napster thing, I like Metallica. I just hope that they let Kirk H. have a few solos on the new record. I didn’t care for St. Anger much. All I know is, the world needs more ROCK AND ROLL. Let the guitars loose and rock the hell out.

Crisco | 7/3/2007, 12:13 pm EST

I’ve been listening to Metallica since the early 80’s, and like the way the band has experimented with their sound. I’ve got some dumb-arse friends who say, “man, they should make another Master of Puppets!” HUH? I loved St. Anger, and can’t wait to hear their new one. Long Live Metallica!!!

monsterQ2123 | 7/3/2007, 11:59 am EST

Hooray for Metallica!!!!

monsterQ2123 | 7/3/2007, 11:59 am EST

Hooray for Metallica!!!!

Poopsy Poop | 7/3/2007, 11:55 am EST

Aarrggh!

Drumz | 7/3/2007, 11:45 am EST

Can’t wait for this. I think this will be a return to the glory days of Master & Justice! Metallica is a great band…don’t just look at the surface; listen to the meaning!

Jon | 7/3/2007, 11:41 am EST

Also, I like to think of it this way, to the Marlon Brando critic. Elvis died fat and bloated on his toilet at an all too young age, after inhaling thousands of peanut butter/banana sandwiches. How do we look at him now? Still the king. Marlon Brando is still one of the most respected actors in American cinema. May you get fat and old and see how everyone remembers you.

darcy | 7/3/2007, 11:34 am EST

sure they have changed over the years, but where will fall out boy be in 20 plus years if there still doing the same old bubble gum pop/rock. Those bands like fall out boy and my chemical romance are around for the 12teen year olds, you might as well class them in with knew kids on the block (crap music)

Thrash Nut | 7/3/2007, 11:21 am EST

C’mon everyone knows that the best thrash band out there is Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy, man. They put Metallica to shame. I can’t wait until the new Coldplay album comes out!

SATAN | 7/3/2007, 11:19 am EST

It looks like hetfield has a really long arm, and what is lars looking at, he’s really concentrating, maybe he sees a napster t shirt

Retard Joe | 7/3/2007, 11:17 am EST

I be big Metalica fan and they are very good. They good rock and roll band and play heavy music. I is lookin to new Cd they come out with so I bang my head on the wall. Yayyy!

kingnothing | 7/3/2007, 11:13 am EST

You guys are bashing one of the best and talented bands of all time. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

nawaf | 7/3/2007, 11:13 am EST

i think that tallica are only cool for one thing .. making cool tshirts cause the music sukz :(

James | 7/3/2007, 11:12 am EST

Alright, you can hate on them all you want. The fact is they brought thrash metal to the masses. Before Metallica it was an underground sensation. They blew it up into a full scale phenomanon without radio or MTV play. I saw them live three years ago and it was the best show I have ever seen in my life. They played for three hours and they played the old stuff, staying loyal to their fans. So you can go put in your Megadeth or Mastadon CD, without Metallica neither band would be here. I won’t even comment on the garbage that FOB, Panic, and MCR produce. When did rock become a therapy session for teenage douche losers?

Give it up | 7/3/2007, 11:09 am EST

Seriously, I guess you guys used to be considered metal, but now, they’ve gone all commercial and straight up suck. Glad there are still some good metal bands left out there that are still loyal to their fans. If they want more money, why don’t sue someone else. It would be less painful than making us hear a new CD by them.

wrecksracer | 7/3/2007, 11:02 am EST

These guys look like old professional wrestlers now. Do they have fans anymore? Are they plaing the state fair circuit yet?

Delaybass | 7/3/2007, 10:58 am EST

This is my one last chance for them, if this sucks im out!

Good News | 7/3/2007, 10:57 am EST

Metallica rocks, wimps like Oasis are nothing in comparison to the true true rock gods!!!. Moreover, Oasis and Metallica belong to different genre, Oasis— Pop rock and Metallica— Thrash Rock). So all anti-Metallica wimps can fuck off!!!

Odys Coltrane | 7/3/2007, 10:42 am EST

The new bass player cements their standing as the ugliest band in rock.

w0nderwall | 7/3/2007, 10:29 am EST

We want news on Oasis’ new record, not this!

rockstar70 | 7/3/2007, 10:22 am EST

Even if they are washed up I would still listen to LOAD long before I would listen to FALL OUT BOY, PANIC at the disco, or SNOW PATROL!!!

Liquid Feces | 7/3/2007, 10:15 am EST

All they can tell us is that the songs are “quite long”? Boooorrrinng! Be prepared for some commercial crap from Metallica in 2008. They need more money to raise their children and open up trust funds and new bank accounts.

rockstar70 | 7/3/2007, 10:15 am EST

Remember when Marlon Brando went from ultra cool to fat and washed up………..Metallica followed the same career path.

Jon | 7/3/2007, 10:11 am EST

No one can deny their first 4 albums are metal masterpieces, even if the production on Justice was shoddy with Jason’s bass. The black album is still one of the best selling albums of all time, and I’m tired of hearing balding 40-year old men with ponytails and faded leather pants complain about the good ol’ days when Lars made love to his double bass pedal and Kirk didn’t make love to his wah wah pedal. Yes, Load, Reload, and St. Anger for the most part sucked. I really think Bob Rock was responsible for all the crappiness of those years. Rick Rubin is a much more solid, diversely experienced producer. Metallica are one of the greats, even Bruce had a tough time in the 80s with his bombastic hits, but he’s still the man today. I really think (or hope) that this album will establish Metallica as one of the greats of all time.

mauricio | 7/3/2007, 10:02 am EST

the new album of metallica it’s gonna be one of the best albums in 2008 i think rick rubin will give them a new sound like we never heard them before

Hairy Balls | 7/3/2007, 10:02 am EST

I think Metallica should just call it quits and stop pretending that they’re still the heavy thrash band of yester-year. They lost their credibility back when that “Load” album came out and their best stuff is long gone.

Go back to enjoying your millions of dollars and mansions/ranches Metallica. You guys are not the same anymore.

abandonedstation | 7/3/2007, 9:54 am EST

metallica are in their mid forties. they are slowly entering that period where they still kick ass live (although fans just show up to hear ‘enter sandman’ and ‘battery’) and people will buy their new album but just listen to it once. I wonder if they are going to follow their metal forefather and do a reality TV show. I wanna see Lars buy more modern art!

this | 7/3/2007, 9:49 am EST

never liked them personally. What’s the deal with dude’s voice? Most annoying voice ever…

Teleto | 7/3/2007, 9:46 am EST

Yeah, seriously. Metallica sucks. I’ll keep listening to United Abominations.

what is with the... | 7/3/2007, 9:45 am EST

built in hatred for this band? Makes NO sense, NONE.

yeaaaaaaa stan | 7/3/2007, 9:44 am EST

the songs are quite long…. all of your songs have been quite long. As long as this album doesnt sound like you were banging your head against a trash can, it probably won’t be half bad.

njboss | 7/3/2007, 9:38 am EST

whoopdee frikkin’ do…
