Yesterday, on the Princess of Wales’ would-be 46th birthday, Princes William and Harry organized a tribute concert in their mother’s honor at London’s Wembley Stadium. The all-day affair (which carried on without incident despite the violence in the U.K. over the weekend) included performances by bands Princess Diana was a fan of (Duran Duran), artists she was friends with (Sir Elton John) and bands that are big today (Lily Allen, Fergie, Nelly Furtado). P. Diddy reprised 1997’s “I’ll Be Missing You,” while Tom Jones threw in a surprise cover of the Arctic Monkeys‘ “I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor” and Kanye West performed “Diamonds From Sierra Leone” at the Princes’ special request. Prince William ended the day by thanking everyone who participated, saying, “For us this has been the most perfect way to remember [Princess Diana], and this is how she would want to be remembered.”
