7/2/07, 2:49 pm EST

fogertyNone other than the great John Fogerty has given us an exclusive stream: his new, very appropriately titled track “Summer of Love,” which features a serious Cream-like stomp. “Summer of Love” is going to appear on Fogerty’s upcoming album Revival, is due out in late September or early October.

This song is unbelievable…Fogerty is as good as he was in the 70’s. The song doesnt song like modern rock at all, its got a great 60’s/70’s feel. I LOVE THIS SONG!

    Howard Gibson | 10/13/2007, 9:50 am EST

Listening to John do his “Little Creedence song” on the radio, sent me into a massive flashback. I had to do a parody of his Green River hit from long ago, at: http://www.realcrash.com/mortg age-blues-at-green-river/

    john prescott | 10/1/2007, 1:51 am EST

fogerty is one the best rock musicans still going being a guitar player myself its great to watch this guy whale keep rockin john

    peter chrispp | 9/26/2007, 6:33 am EST

Must admit some of his latest albums were good, but at times
much too radio friendly and a little patchy, but there is 2 great things about John his guitar work is excellent and that mistakable voice there is no one like him, this new song sounds quite amazing looks as though “flower power” also a nod to the Woodstock era welcome back

    Lauren Polanski | 9/14/2007, 2:08 am EST

Fogerty has definitely NOT stopped rocking! Great song… Can’t wait to hear some more of his new tracks.

It’s always nice to hear something about John Fogerty. He makes allready 40 years the best music you can get.His live concerts are the best concerts i ever saw.I was able to hear 30 seconds from every song of Revival. And Revival gonna be a great album. There a lot of very strong numbers on this cd.And Summer of love is one of them.

John voice alone on his new recordings are phenomenal Been a fan of John since I was 12 have met him a few times over the years so proud of him over coming all his difficulties over the years. God Bless JC Fogerty

Ohh myyy goodness!!! John Fogerty rocks again! Way To Go!!! I just love everything that Fogerty does and have done. Those who says that Fogerty is more suitable playing country-music. Think again, please! Fogerty does all kinds of musical styles, and does it way good too!!! I’ve been a Fogerty/CCR fan for my entire life (almost) I first heard CCR early 70s and have evere since then been a huge fan! I am looking so forward to the release of the Revival album. I will pre-order it from england soon I guess.

Keep on Rockin’, Fogerty & CCR fans!

Great song and I can’t wait for the album. I keep coming back to this over and over just as I come back to John’s other solo work, CCR and even the Golliwogs. I saw John with Creedence in San Bernardino and then saw him up close and personal at the Filmore solo and with the Fairfield Four. John’s the man.

    Rocco | 8/10/2007, 4:40 pm EST

John Fogerty is one of the greatest American musicians of all time. Period.

This style is not good for Fogerty. Country style is good like “Honey do” or “Don’t look now”. Rock style is good like “Travelin’ band” or “Rockin’ all over the world”. Or style like “Run through the jungle” or “The wall”

    ccr fan | 7/31/2007, 3:45 am EST

nothing that fogerty does surprises me. i caught him in australia on four occassions & he was just awesome. he was critisised for sounding exactly like his albums when ccr did live gigs. well if half the artists touring now days could do that a true fan would have to be happy. strange critisim i thought. you will never see any lip sincs at a fogerty concert. just true awesome talent. catch him playing ramble tamble live at the ripe old age of 62 & you will see just what i mean. this man is a true legend who deserves a tribute concert played to him now. you wouild be surprised at the artists who would put their hand up to perform. can’t wait for the new cd. long live fogerty & ccr.

John Fogerty rocks !!! He still rocking harder and harder after so many years … Greetings from Brazil for ya all

    rauno rasanen | 7/24/2007, 11:30 am EST

Summer of love has nothing to do with Run through the jungle! It`s a skilful compilation and pastische of Cream`s Sunshine of your love and John`s own In the garden.
But indeed - it ’sounds’ like the year 1967. And what a voice John still has.

    Mauricio Jordan | 7/23/2007, 9:05 am EST

That’s again my “compadre”(pal) John Fogerty still rocking! after all these years of listening to his good stuff. This new track has a little bit of “Run through the Jungle”?(at least on the rhythm parts) and his leads and verses remind us of his signature guitar riffs. My wife and I still watch his Deja Vu DVD every day
we never get bored of his music.
John you are still the best of the bunch!

    Yversen Yel | 7/22/2007, 4:20 pm EST

Nothing can beat John Fogerty…he really rocks !!!! Greetings from Brazil

    J | 7/22/2007, 11:04 am EST

Sounds alot like the songs on Deja Vu All Over Again

    westysman | 7/19/2007, 10:11 pm EST

John is still the voice of a bunch of us old hippies!
Throw in some Joan Baez and, at least this one, will be happy!

    killerclone | 7/17/2007, 12:59 am EST

Pop musos of today take note: when you’e in your 60s, you and your ‘rock’ will be forgotten.

But Fogerty will always survive. Why? Because his songs have substance and timelessness. Weather it was his CCR stuff, his Centerfield stuff or DeJaVu stuff, Fogerty has always delivered.

I proclaim John C Fogerty as the TRUE King of Rock. And yes the Beatles are overrated.

    Rock on JC!!!!!!

    Yes- strong, energetic, melodic!
I sooo hope for the new album to be as consistent.I bought the laastr album on the strength of “Deja Vu”- but by the time I got to “Honey do”… this etc… I cried out: “No more!!”
For now- I’m very happy to have another “Summer of love!”

P.S:-Which issue of “Rolling Stone” will feature John discussing his next album?

    Dennis Mitchell (KOOL 94.5 ) | 7/15/2007, 3:38 am EST

Awesome!…love this rockin’ track…what else can you say, it’s 10 times better than all that new rock junk!…fogerty is like a McCartney, just keeps getting better…can’t wait for the new CD.

    recknot | 7/14/2007, 9:11 am EST

I really like it, love the little riff from Cream, and the whole song is classic Fogerty. I can’t wait for the whole cd.

    lee | 7/11/2007, 8:15 am EST

Always good to hear john. His voice just gets better. Song is a little incomplete for me. Solo length too long (probably great live though..), but as a lot here have already said, know one is saying anything thing these days, and boy, we need someone saying something!
I saw john in melbourne last year, and he was brilliant.. dont take too long to come back John!

the old man is always down the road!! ok john

    swamdog | 7/9/2007, 8:19 am EST

it’s unfortunate that fogerty takes so long to bring out new stuff no days but heh! who’s complaining? This dude may be on the older side but man he can rock it with the beat of them. No one else can match his distinctive voice & growl. His guitar playing has always been underestimated. He does his stuff with ease & thankfully enjoys it too. God help us if any rap artist decides to rap up a fogerty classic. they are too dam good to have destroyed. well done J C you have done it again, and hopefully you are well & truly rewarded. you’re a flippin’ legend.

    Dr. Donald B. MacGowan | 7/8/2007, 11:26 pm EST

Well–I’m impressed, but I’m a geezer who still listens to The Seeds and Frigid Pink (also Peanut Butter Conspiracy–but I never admit it in public)–

One wonders what today’s youth will make of it, though–if it goes anywhere at all, could we, indeed, be witnessing the rennaisance of the actual guitar solo?

As one raised on Clapton and Hendrix, it is devoutly to be hoped…

    More shall be revealed…

    catspaw | 7/8/2007, 5:38 pm EST

I can’t wait to see him in Ottawa! Man its going to be rockin’ I love Fogerty

    Well,The song is quit good…
But the other titels of the CD sound a kind of boring…I hope my apprehension is not true…
The Conzert in Hamburg was sooooo awesome,I only missed hey tonight and hot rod heart,I mean these tracks are pretty cool, but okay…Great Job John

Born -39 and still kickin´ hapily because of John. This one opens my ears, straightens my back and lights a fire deep inside…

    Mark | 7/6/2007, 10:25 am EST

Since I like Deja Vu as much as any Fogerty-work so far, I wish he had played more of his new stuff when he was in Hamburg. I miss things like Blue Boy or “A Hundred And Ten In The Shade”. This diddy in particular reminds me of “In The Garden”. But there was another song played from the new CD after the show in Hamburg, which was much less of a soundalike. And “jungleland”: If it wasn’t for John and Bob and some other thinking musicians, most people would still believe in war as a political instrument and “W” could bomb us all back into the middleages for the sake of black gold.

    CCRfan60 | 7/6/2007, 6:32 am EST

Weak compared to the best CCR and Cream tunes but lyrics, beat, and guitar work are much better than what passes for rock music in 2007. I would have to hear the rest of the album to see if i would buy it though.

    juratom | 7/6/2007, 6:25 am EST

You can still write “classic rock”-
songs today. Fogerty never lets you down.

    swamprocker57 | 7/5/2007, 9:27 pm EST

Way to go John! Fogerty does it again, great song. This will be one hell of an album! For you people out there who say about this song, Fogerty’s stuck in the past, it sounds old, dated. Don’t you hear what the songs about, Fogerty’s singing about that era, the guitar work is Hendrix and cream like, thats what was going on then. So lets say he sings about the 50’s, I guess you will want an alternative style spin on it as opposed to say some Rockabilly, well that would make alot of sense? This song Rocks!

    24yearold | 7/5/2007, 7:48 pm EST

this song stands out as an example of true rock and roll, something i’ve not heard much of this year

john is the man, and he has balls putting something like this out. people are gunna love it.

“John Fogerty is the greatest musician in the history of music. PERIOD. This song will go straight to #1. He is a very underrated guitarist & rivals Hendrix. He is the greatest living songwriter & puts Sir Paul to shame. I love him.

sorry, those statements are WAY too strong. Don’t get me wrong. I love john, but he can’t compare to the beatles. also, only a few people still care about this guy….this will NOT be going to number one. It won’t even break top 40. It’s good, but let’s be realistic.

    Wesley | 7/5/2007, 3:18 pm EST

GREAT New Song!! John does it again. Can’t wait to hear the rest of REVIVAL!! Rock N’ Roll, Stomping Guitar, the Voice, GO JCF!!!

If this is listed as a “FREE MP3″, then why is the QuickTime player embedded in the page telling me I can’t download it without purchasing QuickTime Pro? I just want to download the file so I can play it on my iPod.

    heady | 7/5/2007, 2:39 pm EST

My Lord is this a great song. Why John Fogerty doesn’t get mentioned in the same breath as Dylan, Springsteen and others is beyond me. He’s fantastic and still writing great songs in 2007. Keep ‘em coming John, you are a true legend.

    Spence | 7/5/2007, 1:27 pm EST

I saw John do this song last sunday live in Paris. It was even better than the version at the top of this page. His voice was more raucous, more powerful, more Fogerty! I loved it and I must say it’s the best performance I’ve seen him do; DVD’s included.

As soon as the first note was played, the whole French crowd stood up and danced to almost every song. I was only 3 years old when John last played at the Olympia in Paris, in 1970 if think, but I felt as if I had been teleported back in time.

I must also mention the excellent guitar playing with all 4 guitar players striding up to the edge of the stage together during some of the solos.

    Please come back soon!

Based on the content of the last album and this, It sounds like JC fogerty is stuck in the past. Overall, nice song, but doesn’t get my juices flowing like classic, swamp rock CCR

    pee wee | 7/4/2007, 11:38 am EST

Better than anything off Deja Vu. But I still miss the Fogerty snarl. Less guitar, more snarl please. I’ll still take Fogerty at 61 over most pretenders and posers on the radio these days.

    krivos | 7/4/2007, 9:19 am EST

fantastic !! back to 1967 !!!! oh my summer of love !!!

    minnborn | 7/3/2007, 7:31 pm EST

I remember that summer and the one that followed it well-1967 & 1968. I was in High school at the time. Those two years changed everything not just for me but literarily for everyone else in this country. Fogerty picks up the sense of moral freedom and cultural change that sweep across the U.S. in this way too short of a song about it. The Cream resemblance is obviously intentional since Cream was the true counter-cultural group of the time and an amazing time it was to live thru. I had hitch hike across America and Europe in those days and witnessed a world being turned upside down first hand. The only sad thing to say about it is that it had to come to an end.

sorry guys. I LOVE CCR!! mr. fogarty’s kick-ass songs informed sooo much of my young life, and they/are he/is one
of my all time favorites, but this just doesn’t do it for me. derivative sound, clichè lyrics..it just sounds very-dare i say it- old. i hope the album is better. if you want a young ccr/fogarty i suggest listening to the kings of leon.

    Scarecrow | 6/29/2007, 5:21 pm EST

.. sah-mokin’ .. I like it .. sounds and tastes good to me .. very riffy .. if this don’t make you miss the late 60’s nothing will … nice bridge … the musical pause lends itself to “Purple Haze” .. {excuse me while I kiss the sky} .. and a hint of Cream “Sunshine Of Your Love” .. but hey .. that was da 60’s .. lotta riffin’ going here and there .. ‘crow gives the thumbs up .. I want some more ..

Bitter and Twisted | 6/29/2007, 4:33 pm EST

Not bad. It kind of reminds me of the tunes off of the latest Slayer CD “Christ Illusion” or something you would hear from a Cannibal Corpse CD. Good guitar work.

    rail | 6/29/2007, 4:18 pm EST

Cool track; very evocative of the titular timeframe from Jimi to Cream stylings.

Rolling Stone: Please correct file tag which has the artist and title as Dashboard Confessional’s “Only If…”

    jungleland | 6/29/2007, 4:06 pm EST

    I like it!

Great fuzzy guitar, John’s voice is still strong. Hope the CD isn’t overly political this time. I was a big Full Moon Swamp fan.
