Guitar Hero

Credentials: David Cross plays video games. J Mascis plays guitar. Who will claim victory in a head-to-head battle in which both stars try to out-rock each other via Guitar Hero renditions of Kiss‘ “Strutter?” All we can say without issuing a spoiler alert is Cross claims to have only given it 98 percent. “I saved 2 percent for later on tonight when I make love,” the comedian explained. i’ve played the game once, on medium, and got a 95. it’s not a hard game to play on lower difficulty levels, honestly.

Guitar Hero is an awesome game, but being an actual guitar player, it is extremely difficult because the game itself is absolutly nothing like playing guitar. but seriously, 90% on easy? At least give medium a go. If this guy is really a “guitar hero” like the video says he is, he should have been able to pull out at least a 98%.

anyone could do well on easy, the difficulty he played on. Mascis would definitely lose at “personality hero” though.

I think it goes to Cross, hands down.

Playing ‘Guitar Hero’ is actually nothing like playing guitar (the rhythms are off…button patter doesn’t resemble note patterns, etc) so I think its a real pisser, ironically, to play that game if you actually know how to play guitar.

Yeah. It’s safe to say that Mascis is a natural, I think, given his track record as one of the more influential guitarists of the past couple of decades.

Indie Chick: AOL rules.

David Cross: They do. Well, in a sense, since they own everything.

David Cross rules.

If that guy seriously hit 90% without ever picking up that game before, he’s a natural and deserves victory. Gamers = losers.
