Ashcroft, McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury actually are the original members. Simon Tong joined up prior to ‘Urban Hymns’ before McCabe got back on board, and he stuck around until the bitter end in 1999. But the first two amazing Verve albums were done by the same quartet currently working together.

If you look in that poll the other day about reunion odds, I actually mentioned the Verve, little realizing there was any chance of it happening.

Forget the Police, Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, Jesus and Mary Chain and Rage Against the Machine: The Verve reuniting has finally got me excited!

Yeah, “Bittersweet Symphony” apparently stole the main riff from a symphonic version of the Stones’ “The Last Time”, so Jagger and Richards got most of the publishing income for that one.
