Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Smiths: The Vegas Odds on the Next Big Reunion

6/21/07, 5:52 pm EST

With tours from The Police and Genesis packing stadiums this summer, our thoughts have turned to the next mega reunion. Here are six bands we would like to see again. In order to calculate the likeliness of these dream reunions occurring, we turned to our experts; Las Vegas odds man John Avello of The Wynn Hotel, and the singing psychic Fran Baskerville, whom some of you may have heard on the Howard Stern Show.

PINK FLOYD

Odds Man: 2 to 1 “The problem was that a lot of people think that Waters and Gilmour have this tiff going, and to be honest I don’t think they are that far apart. I think this is a reality, this is going to happen so that’s why the odds are so short.”

Singing Psychic: “It looks as though I’d say/Pink Floyd they’ll try it again/Ohh oh ya hey hey/They’ll get some new guys comin’ in.”

LED ZEPPELIN

Odds Man: 60 to 1 “To me this seems too difficult to put together. It’s not going to happen with Page, Plant and Jones, I don’t think. Maybe two of those three, but not all three of them together.”

Singing Psychic: “Well Led Zeppelin, oh oh ya/It looks as though he’s doin’ pretty good.” When asked whether Plant will still be able to hit the high notes: “No not completely but I think he can kinda cover it up with some special sounds.”

THE SMITHS

Odds Man: 75 to 1Morrissey just is not interested. If you want to relate this to a couple, this group is not separated, they are divorced.”

Singing Psychic:Johnny Marr, he feels good/Johnny Marr, hey hey hey/I can see red sparks around him, with some yellow sparks comin’ in’”

THE TALKING HEADS

Odds Man: 35 to 1 “I know that David Byrne is busy doing a lot of other things. I know that they are on good terms with each other, but I don’t see it happening right now.”

Singing Psychic: “I see sparks around them/weird sparks around them/Well, Talking Heads have a way to go/I think two of them will reunite with some other people.”

PAVEMENT

Odds Man: 5 to 1 “I see this as happening maybe not this year, but in the next couple of years.”

Singing Psychic: “If they do reunite I see one song that’ll be real good for them/Kind of like fire.”

THE KINKS

Odds Man: 25 to 1 “The problem is the longer they wait, the tougher it will be. It will be just like The Beatles; some one will die. It just won’t be a reality.”

Singing Psychic: “I see them rollin’ in some money/but not quite as much. But it looks as though about 8 months down the road it’ll be good/Comin’ up with some old songs and some new songs sewed in.”

id like pink floyd to reunite more than all the others

Josh | 6/21/2007, 6:21 pm EST

Waters is selling out arenas and ampitheatres with his own band, and I think Gilmour saw his last solo album theatre tour as a relief after the gigantic Division Bell tour. And his comment on Live 8: “It was kind of like sleeping with my ex-wife again.” It won’t happen and doesn’t need to. I’ve seen four Floyd concerts in the past two years and got to experience a much broader range of their catalog then if I had seen one big reunion show with a compromised setlist.

Tabula Rasa '08 | 6/21/2007, 6:22 pm EST

The Original Van Halen is the ONLY reunion worth getting excited over! The mystic this band carries is second to none.

Stuporfly | 6/21/2007, 6:23 pm EST

Where’s odds on the Stone Roses or the Verve?

Blur’s already a rumor I’d love to see materialize…

hehe | 6/21/2007, 6:27 pm EST

the smiths will never happen, thanks to the andy rourke and mike joyce acting like a bunch of idiots, maybe, just maybe marr and morrissey may play together, poor marr is just hurtin’ for it, filling his time with modest mouse, he admitted he needed the money, but the moz, he does just fine on his own.
my money is on floyd

Bono Dinner | 6/21/2007, 6:37 pm EST

While I would like te see any of these happen. My money is on Guns and Roses.
Chinese Democ doesnt need to come out, although I would pick it up in a heartbeat, and Velvet Revolver just puts me to sleep.
So Axl would be best to reconcile with the original dudes and watch the stadiums fill.

Chris | 6/21/2007, 6:39 pm EST

I grew up listening to the Stray Cats, and I would pay to see them on a reunion tour. I can see them getting back together some day. Even though Brain Setzer has had a decent solo career, the other two members probably need jobs.

Sophie | 6/21/2007, 6:41 pm EST

I would kill to see Zep back together, and I don’t care if he can’t hit those high notes anymore. It will most likely never happen, but here’s hoping!

Sophie | 6/21/2007, 6:43 pm EST

PLEASE GET BACK TOGETHER ZEP!! Die hard fans like myself would be greatly appreciative

Ali | 6/21/2007, 6:52 pm EST

I don’t think the old Guns N’ Roses will ever reunite. Axl has made peace with Steven Adler, Matt Sorum and is good friends again with Izzy Stradlin and has toured with him and the new GN’R. The problem is Slash and Axl. I don’t see any hint of a possibility of reconciliation between those two.

Ali

kev | 6/21/2007, 7:14 pm EST

Let’s get the original ‘Sex Pistols’ together w/ Glen Matlock on bass!!!

I’d also like to see ‘Husker Du’ back but I hear they hate each other more than anyone mentioned in the article.

Steve | 6/21/2007, 7:20 pm EST

Stray Cats have already reunited and are touring the U.S. this summer. They toured the U.K. in 2004 and released a live DVD and album. I’ve got tickets to see them in Kansas City on July 31…

Spencer | 6/21/2007, 7:26 pm EST

The original G’N'R, maybe? Ooh, how about the ‘69-’73 Stones (it’s easy, I’m sure Mick Taylor or Bill Wyman aren’t busy enough to make a gazillion dollars on a world tour…)?

Betta Recognize | 6/21/2007, 7:28 pm EST

there is a lot of high hopes here. i would be suprised to see any rekindling of any of the stated bands. sad. what about the dead kennedys?

HB | 6/21/2007, 7:29 pm EST

Why would anyone care about a Pink Floyd reuniun when they aren’t even in the Rolling Stone top 100 artists?

Pink Floyd’s omission underlines the poor quality of the RS top 100 artist list.

Marty P. | 6/21/2007, 7:38 pm EST

Tabula Rose ‘08 is right on the money! The original Van Halen would be the show to see! They would do Stones like business.

kcv | 6/21/2007, 7:39 pm EST

yeah i am going to see the stray cats next month in chicago i am psyched!

Aaron | 6/21/2007, 7:56 pm EST

So would anybody consider the “new” Smashing Pumkins a comeback without D’arcy or James or simply a back-up band headed by Corgan? Really. I’m still holding out for the original line-up. What are the odds on this one?

Danny | 6/21/2007, 8:07 pm EST

The SP have Corgan and Chamberland and thats always been the main part of the band.

Anon | 6/21/2007, 8:08 pm EST

As the band members have repeatedly said, no Bonzo = no Led Zeppelin. And with Plant’s solo career in full stride, and Jonesey’s producing slate so full, (and Page’s newfound hobby accepting lifetime achievement awards) it hardly seems a priority. But it would be nice to think they could manage to get together for a few pints and jam, even as a new entity.

JLI | 6/21/2007, 8:17 pm EST

There are band members you just can’t replace. Bonzo was one of them. But I would like to see Floyd and The Kinks. I think The Kinks could pull off some pretty good shows. But time is really running out.

I am the resuurection | 6/21/2007, 8:29 pm EST

Please, please, please, let me, let me, let me . . . let me, get what I want this time:

And that would be the Stone Roses getting back togwether. How has this not happened yet?

auramac | 6/21/2007, 8:49 pm EST

I’d love to hear a healthy and inspired reunion of Dave and Ray Davies as the Kinks. An album of new music, not necessarily a tour.

Lucifer Sam | 6/21/2007, 8:52 pm EST

Any Smashing Pumpkins reunion without James and Darcy is not Smashing Pumpkins. If that were not the case, then Zwan should’ve been Smashing Pumpkins since it had Billy and Jimmy. And it sucked.

Floyd could do it, but its all on David Gilmour. He should do it. “On and Island” plus “Amused to Death” would’ve been one reunion album to have put others to shame. At least do it so we don’t have to hear anymore tribute bands or be stuck at a planetarium with idiots. Or ever worse: Tool fans.

Page and Plant barely got by on their 90’s reunion. Plant’s voice is shot, and Page can barely stand up. Jones is jamming with hip young cats. It ain’t happening, but it would be interesting.

The Kinks shouldn’t because I hate that song “Come Dancing”.

Talking Heads? Byrne is still listening to Brazillian music.

The Smiths? Johnny Marr is too intelligent to hang out with Morrisey anymore. You have to stop whining at a certain age.

And Genesis without Peter Gabriel is not a reunion. Its an embarrassement, like the Miami Vice movie.

T | 6/21/2007, 9:12 pm EST

would like to see another J. Geils Band tour

Jason | 6/21/2007, 9:12 pm EST

JLI, you’re just regurgitating the same senseless hyperbole about Zeppelin. Now, I’m a big Zep fan, one who was not around when they were an active band. I have no wishes to see them live today, nor do I think it’s going to happen. However, I don’t think the reason is because Bonzo is irreplaceable. That’s just bush league.

Greg | 6/21/2007, 9:15 pm EST

Led Zeppelin cannot reunite, as John Bonham is dead. This is one of the major reasons they dissolved to begin with.

The best Zep can do is reconstitute in a vastly watered down form. This should never happen.

Flap Dragon | 6/21/2007, 9:33 pm EST

Bring back Van Halen! David or Sammy will do. Are these guys still around?

graham | 6/21/2007, 9:38 pm EST

Ugh…I don’t get it, led zeppelin. John Bonham was just a drummer. He was an amazing drummer yes, but a drummer doesn’t make the band the way a singer, guitarist or even bassist does. They could do it with another drummer. Get over yourself, doubters. They probably just hate each other, thats all. REUNITE! AND PLAY STAIRWAY!!!!

CMoKnee | 6/21/2007, 9:48 pm EST

Where the fuc* is Phish on this list??

CMoKnee | 6/21/2007, 9:49 pm EST

Where the fuc* is Phish on this list??

Will The Thrill | 6/21/2007, 9:50 pm EST

Bring back the E Street Band!

Stuporfly | 6/21/2007, 9:52 pm EST

Dear Graham,

On behalf of drummers (dead and alive) the world over, I’d like to offer the following witty rejoinder…

FUCK YOU!

Kisses,

Stuporfly

Gary | 6/21/2007, 9:55 pm EST

The Byrds. I am under the impression that McGuinn & Crosby don’t get along. Hillman is happy doing his own thing.

Gary | 6/21/2007, 9:55 pm EST

The Byrds. I am under the impression that McGuinn & Crosby don’t get along. Hillman is happy doing his own thing.

Ryan | 6/21/2007, 10:03 pm EST

I would like to see

Stabbing Westward
Journey W/Steve Perry
Jane’s Addiction
Faith No More

Joe | 6/21/2007, 10:27 pm EST

Until the devastating death of Joe Strummer, I always held out scant hope for the Clash. How about Prince and the Revolution, with Wendy and Lisa, the Japan headband bass player, the fruity drummer, and of course on keyboard the one and only DOCTOR???????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????? ????????????

Anonymous | 6/21/2007, 10:30 pm EST

i just find it funny, that people are writing msgs straight to the band as if this comment page will change anything… gnr’s no way, led zepp forget about it, e street band has been done, pink floyd is donzo… the past is the past, they are classics, let them stay that way… we want to keep the memories of them in their prime- not with vocal chords filled with dust and cob webs.

HH | 6/21/2007, 11:26 pm EST

I’d like to see Blur with Ghraham Coxon

Kevin | 6/21/2007, 11:34 pm EST

Sleater-Kinney!

It’s only been a year or so, but dammit, it’s been a year or so too long.

Anonymous | 6/21/2007, 11:36 pm EST

Journey with Steve Perry would be great

mat2430 | 6/21/2007, 11:54 pm EST

Pink Floyd to headline Bonnaroo next year. You heard it here first.

Reunion of the Century? | 6/22/2007, 12:08 am EST

Reunion of the Century?
First, exhume John and George. Then–voila!–The Beatles. Hey hey hey and yeah yeah yeah. (Hurray for necrophilic rock.)

Anonymous | 6/22/2007, 1:08 am EST

It’d be great if Chris Cornell cut the solo bullshit and got Soundgarden back together.

And I agree with the people that mentioned Van Halen w/ Diamond Dave, the original GnR, the Verve, and the Stone Roses.

hamish | 6/22/2007, 1:42 am EST

i think that blur will get back together and play coachella, same with pavemet, the kinks will try but get into a big fight and quit, phish will happen it’s just a matter of about a decade, the smiths may do one gig but doubtful, led zepplin won’t happen, pink floyd might, and the talking heads probably will

S | 6/22/2007, 2:00 am EST

So lets say that any or all of these bands reunite…is it too far fetched to say that what they would produce wouldn’t be up to our standards? I mean, we want the classic Floyd and classic Zepplin, but we won’t get it because times change and with it so do the bands.

Any new material put out by any of those bands listed above would be considered a failure to us because our expectations would be absolutely through the roof. We’d want something that we can’t have and that is a duplicate of the sound and feeling we get from listening to Dark Side of the Moon or Remain In Light.

What I’m trying to say is, enjoy your Led Zepplin albums and your Pavement albums for what they are…classic and in the past. A reunion now would spoil any of those bands legacy, especially without a classic lineup (I’m looking at you The Who…) Let sleeping dogs lie…

Brennan | 6/22/2007, 2:03 am EST

More bands that would be great reunited:

Van Halen
The Original GNR
Faith No More
The Darkness needs Justin Hawkins back
Extreme
Journey w/ Steve Perry

Jakobi | 6/22/2007, 2:43 am EST

What about the Stone Roses?

Now there is a band who could get back together, and make a great album too!

And seriously, they would sell out stadiums (in the UK at least)

Rock Geek | 6/22/2007, 3:38 am EST

I don’t think RS could be more off base, of all the reunions possible I think Floyd is one of the least likely. Don’t get me wrong, it would be spectacular, but to give it 2 to 1 odds is wishful thinking. I think we have a better chance at seeing at least two out of the three members of Zeppelin or some incarnation of Van Halen.

Anonymous | 6/22/2007, 4:40 am EST

Where is Soundgarden, great band of the 90’s. But 1,0000 to 1 odds with cameron in PJ and cornell is solo. But what the fuck is Kim Thayill doing right now

T-Nasty | 6/22/2007, 5:18 am EST

RESPECT Led Zeppelin for no “reunion”. Much respect!

Aaron | 6/22/2007, 5:55 am EST

I’m back for another one. Some food for thought: Prince back with the revolution, Rob Zombie back with White Zombe, L. Richie with the Commadores, and The Replacemnts. Thoughts anyone?

Elliot | 6/22/2007, 6:25 am EST

The Replacements can’t really reunite. Besides the fact that westerberg and Tommy Stinson have real gigs, Chris Mars hasn’t played drums in years and Bob is dead. the best one could do is the last ‘mats lineup, with slim dunlap and that other drummer with Paul and Tommy.

midevil | 6/22/2007, 7:11 am EST

Syd Barrett is dead! John Bonham is dead! Let’s bring back the dead for Floyd and Zep reunions! While we’re at it, let’s bring out Morrison for a Doors gig too!

wank | 6/22/2007, 8:00 am EST

Pink Floyd already had a reunion. It was the greatest show on Earth, but now it’s over.

crazyfungi | 6/22/2007, 8:07 am EST

Uncle Tupelo

alex | 6/22/2007, 8:19 am EST

Replacements
Husker Du
I know they just broke up, but New Order
I know a lot of the ones mentioned seem farfetched, but I never thought I’d see the New York Dolls, the Stooges, or Roxy Music get back together again.

Colbert '08 | 6/22/2007, 8:19 am EST

The best reunion has already happened. Dino jr. Saw them lastnight at the Tabernacle in ATL. That and their new album………..Awesome!

Will | 6/22/2007, 8:21 am EST

Floyd couldn’t do a reunion tour, but a one-off reunion special show would be epic (and I’m talking more than the setlist they did at Live 8).

Will | 6/22/2007, 8:22 am EST

Whatever | 6/22/2007, 8:22 am EST

Stone Roses, Verve, The La’s

Good news anyway is that Noel Galagher is in LA this week to discuss the next oasis album with Dave Sardy and apparently it’s going to be started on July 3rd and its going to sound unashamedly MASSIVE- Oh Happy Happy Day!!!!!!

ryan | 6/22/2007, 8:57 am EST

fuck those bands, reunite phish

Glamzilla1976 | 6/22/2007, 8:58 am EST

Hmmm, how about Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground…I think I’d give an ovary to see that. It’ll never happen so my reproductive system is safe.

ryan | 6/22/2007, 8:59 am EST

well i cant possibly say fuck led zeppelin and pink floyd and mean it they are just oh too good, but still come back phish!

jungleland | 6/22/2007, 9:19 am EST

Pink Floyd will do a single show/event, but not a tour.

Led Zeppelin did Page/Plant so that they would not have to do an official reunion

The Kinks could do it, but I’m not sure there is a demand on a big scale. I saw them in the early 1990’s and they were great, but that was a long time ago!

Don’t know Pavement (and didn’t know they were not still a band)

The Smiths – Did they ever play big rooms? I think Morissey has had bigger success without the rest of the band.

If The Replacements got back I’d go to see them again (for the 10th time!)

Police tickets go on sale Saturday and I’m thinking about going to this show. I’ve seen Sting 5 times though…

Not crazy about the Genesis set lists (too much 1970’s stuff) and they were good not fantastic back in 1987

The BIG reunion this year will be Clapton & Windwood at the Crossroads Guitar Festival. I am driving from Atlanta to Chicago for this (plus Jeff Beck and a rumour of Jack Bruce)

Kenneth CR | 6/22/2007, 9:46 am EST

Rink Floyd reunion happens in 2005 at live 8, and it;s was the best thing i’ve ever semm but i don’t believe they play together again… sad but true.
Led Zeppelin without John Bonham is not Zeppelin.
A reunion of original Guns n’ Roses would be great.

piple | 6/22/2007, 9:53 am EST

is it just me or is that singing psychic a fucking idiot?

Van Halen | 6/22/2007, 9:58 am EST

Van Halen , with Dave and Sammy together ?????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????? ???????????

Steel Dragon | 6/22/2007, 10:41 am EST

Journey with Jeff Scott Soto is just as good as Steve Perry, but I would pay for either so really doesn’t matter.

White Lion – complete band

Warrant – Jani come back

Metallica – Jason come back, but that doesn’t really count because Cliff was original bassist. Love to see Dave Mustaine in there for a performance of Kill’em All

Creed – Scott Stapp is an idiot, but Alter Bridge is great, hard call there

Talk Talk – great 80’s band!

Wham! – George give Andrew a call, I’m sure he is available – HA!!J/K

Love to see Pink Floyd, but doubtful it will happen again.

how about the opposite, bands love to see break up:
Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, etc.

Boner | 6/22/2007, 10:56 am EST

The Bone retains the throne.

Joliet Jake Blues | 6/22/2007, 11:54 am EST

The band man, we’re putting the band back together.

Lola | 6/22/2007, 12:24 pm EST

Does anyone really cares for The Smiths?

Cathy | 6/22/2007, 12:27 pm EST

Its true, theres nothing exited about seen Morrisey and a bunch of old guys singin depressing songs.
I rather see Prince and The Revolution!!!

Kyle | 6/22/2007, 12:34 pm EST

Yeah… the Talking Heads are on good terms alright… They all admitted to having bad blood between them, and hence a reunion is completely out of the question.

Kyle | 6/22/2007, 12:34 pm EST

Geoff | 6/22/2007, 12:38 pm EST

McGuinn, Crosby, Hillman

And how bout a Cream/Blind Faith reunion? Clapton/Bruce/Baker/Winwood… holy smokes!!!

Shar | 6/22/2007, 12:43 pm EST

Morrissey said he would not appear at the Rock N’Roll Hall of Fame if the Smiths are inducted into it if Marr was there. So, it sounds to me like the odds for a Smith reunion should be higher.

Rockstar70 | 6/22/2007, 1:16 pm EST

Original GNR……welcome back steven!!!

Van Halen with dave……..take a walk Wolfgang.

Mule | 6/22/2007, 1:46 pm EST

My biggest dream: THE FACES!! Rod, Woody, Ian, Kenny…and they could get Bill Wyman to replace Lane on bass for at least a quick tour!!! GET ROD BACK INTO ROCK’N'ROLL, GUYS! Make him STOP singing music for my grandma! She’s dead!!!!

>>>> | 6/22/2007, 1:47 pm EST

led zep, w/ Jason Bohnam,
that would be a touching reunion

DEEPRFJ | 6/22/2007, 1:52 pm EST

DEEP PURPLE mark II
Now that would be A reunion!

TEABAG | 6/22/2007, 1:55 pm EST

I would love it if they got back together but Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin will never get back together.

bagel | 6/22/2007, 1:55 pm EST

zeppelin would be amazing…john pual jones already played a gig (bonaroo). But the kinks seem too unlikely; the davie brothers weren’t even talking by the end.

44-DDs | 6/22/2007, 1:58 pm EST

Milli Vanilli is gonna reunited……….

RenoDavid | 6/22/2007, 2:25 pm EST

Kev, the Sex Pistols just got together a few years ago. I saw them at the Street Scene festival in San Diego. Fantastic!

RenoDavid | 6/22/2007, 2:40 pm EST

Spencer, that would be great to hear Mick Taylor playing with the Stones again. That was definitely the band’s peak period. I wonder if he still has “it.” Perhaps he could fill in whenever Rod Wood goes into rehab or Keith falls out of a tree…

;-)

RenoDavid | 6/22/2007, 2:58 pm EST

Steel Dragon, Soto was recently fired from his Journey gig.

RenoDavid | 6/22/2007, 3:07 pm EST

OK, here’s my dream reunion. How about the original Fleetwood Mac of Green, Kirwan, Spencer, McVie, and Fleetwood? Now THAT would be a miracle. At least they are all still alive. Well, at least their bodies are – not so sure about their brains.

Lee | 6/22/2007, 3:52 pm EST

Last I read Morrissey and Marr were on alright terms, but Morrissey has a deep hatred for Mike Joyce the drummer since he sued them for royalties. Morrissey is happy doing his own thing, and Marr is with Modest Mouse now.
Velvet Underground can’t have a real reunion since Sterling Morrison died a few years ago. Anyways John Cale and Lou Reed have never been on great terms.

Bring Matt Sharp back into Weezer. Their best albums were the blue album and pinkerton with him in the band.

Rockstar70 | 6/22/2007, 4:06 pm EST

Aerosmith should be reunited with their roots.
They need to get rockin’ or get to stopin’.

I love ROCKS but I DON”T WANT TO MISS A THING can go away forever.

scott | 6/22/2007, 4:37 pm EST

stones roses
cocteau twins
ride

Steve | 6/22/2007, 4:52 pm EST

The Verve & The Stone Roses are at the top of my list…maybe the only potential reunions where the band members are still young enough to not completely destroy the reputations they created back in the day.

Oh Nick McCabe, where the fuck did you disappear to?

wank | 6/22/2007, 6:26 pm EST

Talk Talk would be great. Someone needs to convince Mark Hollis to get back to music again.

Jesse H. | 6/22/2007, 6:36 pm EST

I miss Sleater-Kinney. One of the most important female rock bands
of the last ten years!

Larry Balce | 6/22/2007, 6:43 pm EST

Zep “re-forming” would be laughably awful.

Rock en Espaniol | 6/22/2007, 7:04 pm EST

Ya viene soda, ‘ora que vuelvan los caifanes!

GarageRock | 6/22/2007, 7:10 pm EST

The best reunion began in 2004 and is still going strong..The STOOGES!

Anthony PIttarelli | 6/22/2007, 8:00 pm EST

Floyd will happen in 2009 wait and see

bloodzilla | 6/22/2007, 9:14 pm EST

i never like the ideas of reunions because i feel like that original spark is usually gone, but after seeing the reunited dinsoaur jr and hearing beyond, i can see there are certainly exceptions. so, i’d like to see pavement and husker du reunite. husker du will never happen, though.

lol | 6/22/2007, 9:52 pm EST

I’m dying to see “Pink Floyd” and “Led Zeppelin”, but more Floyd because all the members are still alive (expect for Syd Barret). Led Zeppelin is to find a somebody as good as Bonzo

lol | 6/22/2007, 9:52 pm EST

I’m dying to see “Pink Floyd” and “Led Zeppelin”, but more Floyd because all the members are still alive (expect for Syd Barret). Led Zeppelin is to find somebody as good as Bonzo

lol | 6/22/2007, 10:10 pm EST

HB,

I agree with you in what you said about the poor judgement of RS to decide its inmortals 100 leaving “Pink Floyd” and “Queen” behind. Besides “Led Zeppelin” was to low, 14? PLEASEEEE, “The Clash” below “Nirvana” is just unacceptable!even U2 should be below “The Clash”.Well, I’m not getting into that. Somebody mentioned “The Velvet Undeground” reunion. I also would like that to happen, but two of its members are dead so I think that’s even more difficult than Led’s reunion

Jake Burns | 6/22/2007, 11:35 pm EST

Ride, Lush (will need a new drummer since the original offed himself), the Stone Roses, and the UFO lineup of Schenker,Mogg,Way and Parker would all be great. The Sex Pistols reunited in 1996 (saw them in Chicago). The Kinks might be problematic since Dave Davies had a stroke a couple of years ago.
J. Geils of 1975 would be great, not the “Centerfold” popstars would be interesting.

Kevin P | 6/22/2007, 11:48 pm EST

Hey Pink Floyd When you get it together and tour be sure to give me a call and I will run your light show for you. 272-7471 really call me.

andy | 6/22/2007, 11:51 pm EST

Pink Floyd already had a reunion. It was the greatest show on Earth, and it was for free.

If Floyd ever reunite again, it will be one-off, for free, for charity.

ryan | 6/23/2007, 12:18 am EST

I could see Zep playing again…A handful of shows. I’m sure they could get Dave Grohl behind the kit.

Bill Morin | 6/23/2007, 6:18 am EST

A zeppelin Reunion would be fantastic. They could have Jason Bonham on drums As Phil Collins is currently busy with his Genesis Reunion. Just think of teh money they could make, along with a concert cd,dvd, just as Cream did a few years back. I’m all for it!!. I still dig up some hard to find New yardbirds of early zeppelin which they could release as well.

“…said you dug me since you were thirteen…” which is now 32 years ago! I am still a hard core Zeppelin fan as is my sixteen year old son. But I would not want to see them go out on a reunion tour. Not doing Zep material anyway. That was glorious then, this is now. And unfortunately John Bonham has passed. That era, and that particular group of musicians made Led Zeppelin what it was. These guys still have so much creativity to give. Besides the amazing Indian influenced music Page and Plant did with “Unledded”, and all the work Jones has done with many other artists since, they’re musically into so much more. They’re still quite vital. If they’re going to go back out,let them do something fresh. Age has absolutely NOTHING to do with creativity. Your spirit does not age and the creative element does not age. I can’t even listen to classic rock radio anymore, it’s so repetitive and tired. I’d rather hear Page, Plant and Jones do some new music!!!!!!

MegaSudz | 6/23/2007, 9:56 am EST

There are as many members in this Pumkins line up as there were in Zwan! Billy and Jimmy were the only 2 members to play on Siamese Dream, but I am still not feeling the tour without D’arcy and James.

Max Buzz | 6/23/2007, 10:54 am EST

Husker Du!
Seeing the Kinks again would be great. They put on good shows in the old days.
Zep, never. And please, no Pink Floyd!

This Charming Manc | 6/23/2007, 11:40 am EST

The Smiths are the geatest band of all time and they will stay that way as long as they dont dirty the art they created. I cant stand reunions they are ALL horible. Phil Collins and Sting you are so bad its untrue, go and find something new theres some great stuff out there.

miccc | 6/23/2007, 1:06 pm EST

A true Led Zeppelin reunion(which is not possible)would be every bit as huge as a true Beatles reunion(also not possible), virtually shutting down cities on the tour. Unfortunately, rock’s greatest band ceased to exist when they lost rock’s greatest drummer, John Bonham. You can’t duplicate that unique magical chemistry, and the surviving members knew it and had the grace and class to end the magnificent Led Zeppelin.

Schneider | 6/23/2007, 2:10 pm EST

Dave Grohl!!! Bonzo would say yeah! For sure! Could be perfect, Phil Collings is “too clean” and boring for Led Zeppelin, and Dave can do this job better. Led Zeppelin’s Brazillian Tour – Summer 2008 – Maracanã Stadium – Rio de Janeiro… it sounds amazing… let’s dream about it!

Travis Schucker | 6/23/2007, 5:14 pm EST

You can’t relive the past. Rock and Roll Bands will make their mark in rock history and then they will fall. Then new bands will rock out stadium and sell out shows. They will thank their influences for their success and hopefully set a milestone like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Smiths did. It would be pretty cool if Jason Bonham filled in his father shoes and toured with the remaining members though!

Drummer | 6/23/2007, 5:53 pm EST

Jason Bonham is the only one who can play with the mighty Zep!

Jake Burns | 6/23/2007, 7:28 pm EST

Zep SUCKS (so does Floyd)

RenoDavid | 6/24/2007, 12:39 am EST

Yep, no Led Zep. We all know musicians NEVER change their minds…

Lola | 6/24/2007, 12:51 pm EST

Who are The Smiths?

Lola | 6/24/2007, 12:54 pm EST

Zepellin? Floyd? Smiths?
So overhyped! How about The Replacements, or The Sugarcubes or even Lisa, Wendy, Dr Think and Prince.

Anonymous | 6/24/2007, 1:20 pm EST

Well, Lola, Bob Stinson is dead and Chris Mars has made it pretty clear he doesn’t want to give up his art career to go back and play drums again. So I’d say that’s why no one is talking about a Replacements reunion.

This Charming Manc | 6/24/2007, 3:27 pm EST

Lola you are not funny.

Dr. Benway | 6/24/2007, 11:13 pm EST

Dave Grohl drumming for Led Zeppelin is about the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. It’s like Kenny Jones replacing Keith Moon in the Who!Next you’ll want to see Paul Rogers sing lead for Queen……they did? aw shit that’s AMAZING

STRATCAT | 6/25/2007, 10:18 am EST

I know The New York Dolls are back together (at least Sylvain+Johnannsen) but they haven’t beendoing much in the stATES SINCE 2004.
c’MON nEW yORK dOLLS..TOUR IN THE u.s. AND KICK SOME MAJOR ASS.
All of these bands today should bow down to the dolls because they are such pioneers of rock n’ roll.

The Lawyer | 6/25/2007, 2:19 pm EST

We need a White Lion reunion, that would change the soul of country.

GordonW | 6/25/2007, 4:49 pm EST

How about X?

Dr.Electric | 6/25/2007, 5:06 pm EST

The Smiths will never happen. Morrissey’s doing fine solo and hasn’t had many kind words for Andy Rourke or Mike Joyce. Pavement’s more likely, although Malkmus doesn’t seem too nostaligic for his old band. I’m holding out for Afghan Whigs.

Who I’d like to see back together in order…

Phish (greatest band to ever exist)
Pink Floyd
Talking Heads
GNR

Brian Moore | 6/27/2007, 4:42 am EST

I guess those Led Zep odds were way off.

Hairy 1 | 6/28/2007, 3:20 am EST

To anyone who says “reunions are stupid because the bands won’t play like they used to”, think of it like this, broken up bands are like pizza, even if the pizza does suck, at the end of the day it’s still pizza, and pizza rules… so does Zeppelin.

Walter Five | 6/28/2007, 1:07 pm EST

Actually, it’s just been released that the surviving three members of Led Zeppelin WILL be performing with John Bonham Jr. at an Ahmet Ertegun Memorial Concert, date to be determined.

LesPSG | 6/29/2007, 1:27 pm EST

” Travis Schucker | 6/23/2007, 5:14 pm EST Then new bands will rock out stadium and sell out shows.”

The problem here is that none of these “new bands” sell out shows the way Zeppelin, Floyd, or the Who did. The only one’s to sell out shows like that are U2 and Bon Jovi… And they’ve been around scince the early 80’s. The reason reunion acts sell out more shows than some of these bands from the 90’s and 2000’s is that they were more talented, thought full and genuinly cared about writting good music. Then again… the recording and radio industry today doesn’t help promote good music either.

Mark | 7/1/2007, 5:14 am EST

Having seen Gilmour in Paris a few years back and again twice in LA last year and Floyd three times when they last toured, I can Certify that god willing they will do it. I’ll be at nearly every show. Absolutely incredible is what that would be. Certainly BETTER than the iPhone and I am lusting after that!!

Plant, Page, Jones and Bonzo’s son would be great too!

Alicemudgarden | 7/5/2007, 10:44 am EST

but what about the tour with the reunion of led zeppelin and Soundgarden together???
saluti dall’ Italiaaa!!!

marlboro79 | 12/21/2007, 11:14 pm EST

i hope that the floyd reunion happens next year

Bartleby St. D'art | 9/29/2009, 12:15 am EST

Hey, so I think that according to my inside expert analysis team, my cohort of oddsmen and psychic scribespeople, the odds that this band LED ZEPPELIN will come back together is very good! And I like thinking that the pavement tickets that are sold out are good proof that the led zeppelin will come together again for 2 more reunion shows and that Tom Wolfe will be the stage man/ MC. I think they should do something with Jay-Z? I think that they should get the drummer from the arcade fire, too.
