• Rod Stewart got married to his girlfriend Penny Lancaster this weekend. The small ceremony took place in a 17th Century villa at Santa Margherita Ligura in the Italian Riviera. Congrats you crazy kids.
• Sonic Youth are busy recording a new track to appear on an album for Starbucks. According to Thurston Moore, everyone from Jeff Tweedy to Beck to Marc Jacobs to Portia de Rossi to Michelle Williams were asked to choose their favorite Sonic Youth song to be included on this special compilation you can buy mindlessly when paying for your four-dollar latte on your credit card.
• Jazz great Ornette Coleman collapsed from heat stroke on stage at Bonnaroo yesterday (June 17th). The legendary saxophonist is currently recovering in a local hospital.
• Those Radiohead dudes really know how to tease. Nigel (Godrich, we’re assuming) posted the following cryptic statement by way of introduction to an intriguing bit of video on the band’s site: “I keep bits of tape which have been chopped out of the mixes when they were edited .. stick em on a reel.. when you play it back it sounds like.. this.”
• Kelly Clarkson may be having problems managing the release of her new album My December (she’s recently fired her manager and had to postpone her entire summer tour) but that hasn’t stopped her from thinking about a new, country-influenced album. Clarkson said she’s already started working on the record, which she describes as “country meets blues meets rock.”
• Lou Pearlman, the boy band svengali who was recently found hiding from authorities in Bali — is in federal lockup in Guam, pending his transfer to Florida, where he will face fraud charges.
