- Moby has signed a new U.S. record deal with Mute. Moby’s old U.S. label, V2, folded last year, leaving the singer homeless. Mute puts out Moby’s albums everywhere but the U.S., so the decision to sign with them here as well made sense. “A: I live a few blocks from Mute U.S headquarters, B: the people at Mute U.S. are my friends, and C: the people at Mute U.S are smart and love music,” the star explained.
- Tomorrow (June 16th) is the ten year anniversary of the release of OK Computer. The now classic album was released in the UK first, then, a few weeks later it came out in the states (on July 1st) and scored Radiohead their highest debut at that time when it landed at #21 on the charts. Happy anniversary OK Computer!
- Madonna has come in at a staggering #3 on Forbes’ annual Celebrity 100 list, which ranks the most powerful celebrities in the world. Oprah and Tiger Woods are the only ones ahead of her, and Madge beat out The Rolling Stones (#4) as well as Elton John (#7), Jay-Z (#9), Bon Jovi (#18), and U2 (#22).
- Check out Akon’s new track “Put The Blame On Me,” in which he apologizes for “things that I’ve done; things that haven’t occurred yet; things they don’t want to take responsibility for.” Someone’s feeling guilty for all the bad things he’s done.
- Guitar Hero III will be released early next year and it will feature another kick ass soundtrack including songs by Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, the Beastie Boys, Kiss, and Weezer among others.
