Being a “HUGE” Journey/Steve Perry Fan, it is great to see them get some positive recognition for a change. Of course you’re only stating facts that we, the fans, have ALWAYS KNOWN….”JOURNEY ROCKS”. This article “ROCKS”…I only have one TINY little correction…although, you may not specifically find “SOUTH DETROIT” on a map…there is a South Side of Detroit, as there is a North, East and West Side of Detroit. As in any city, you just can’t avoid living or being north, south, east or west at any given moment. Journey performed many times in Detroit at the Cobo Arena which is in “SOUTH Detroit” (technically a little South EAST). But, hey we are talking about lyrics to a timeless piece of music that WILL go on and on and on.., let’s not ruin it with geography, right?

I was very into: Pablo Honey, The Bends, and Ok Computer. But after time and a good sense of music knowledge and the realization of how on the last 7 years music, movies, etc is lacking any sort of artist talent. Radiohead by fact (yes, fact) is one of the best bands/artists ever, for god sake Myself, and I’m sure many others would compare Radiohead to Mozart. Give them a chance and I hope you will see that everything that they have created is Perfect.

While original fans are obsessed with returning to the bends Radiohead appealed to a different group of listeners with Kid A. Hail to the thief was a fantastic compromise between the two styles. If you hate the electronic stuff then accept that you are only into half of their sound because there are plenty of Radiohead fans that almost exclusively like their electronic stuff. I like both so I’m happy either way. Like it or not Radiohead will continue to be regarded as one of the best bands of our generation.

I have been awaiting this radiohead news since I saw them a year ago to the day at the Theater at MSG….

all I can say is it is going to be at the very least one of the top 5 releases of the year

i meant perry, not chase, below.

It’s true Radiohead is an overrated band, although I will admit The Bends has some good pop songs, and OK Computer for the most part is excellent. I have listened to Kid A several times, but I still don’t understand why it’s on so many best-album-ever lists. It’s filled with a lot of bland electronic noises and other assorted sonic wankery, which some people confuse with musical brilliance. They seem to score extra points (like many critical darlings do) for every album just because they are Radiohead. I think the greatness of some of their material has blinded people when it comes to their lesser work. Sorry to say it Radiohead fanatics, but I do “get” Radiohead’s music and it’s not all pure gold. It’s certainly respectable though. I can tell their trying to be different and experimental. Unlike the true crap bands, like the vomit inducingly overglorified Coldplay, Radiohead has the ability to be great and I will look forward to this new album.

Radiohead’s new album is not going to be like Amnesiac or Kid A. It’ll be more like Hail to The Thief. Thom’s voice is getting different and more aged now (he’s 38). The new material from their last tour displayed another evolution of sound and style. However, they’ll never equal the pure genius that were The Bends and OK Computer. People need to get that in their heads. This next album will make or break their legacy as arguably one of the best bands of all time.

Evan | 6/13/2007, 6:25 pm EST

I’m so sick of this damn Radiohead album already. It shouldn’t take 4 years to write an albums worth of songs. I bet this is going to be terrible. I’m sure it’ll suck just like Kid A and most of Amnesiac, if Yorke’s terrible waste of a solo album was anything to go by.

kev...watch out | 6/13/2007, 6:20 pm EST

If I knew who you were I’d beat your ass. twice. People like you are the reason Radiohead changed their direction in the first place; to get MTV watching, top-40 listening, close-minded idiots off their bandwagon. They are pushing music into the 21st century unlike anybody.

On your deathbed you will probably look back at how dumb you were in 2007. The list of most important, influencial artists of all time will scroll across your brain: Elvis, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, and Radiohead.

Right at that moment you’ll keel over.

kev | 6/13/2007, 6:03 pm EST

Mr. Falwell…… I hate Nickleback and I do own Pablo honey, The Bends, Ok Computer, Kid A & Hail (by default…I checked it out and burned it from the local library) and the last 3 are crap.Just b/c something is different doesn’t make it good. Note=Frank Zappa

Troll Police | 6/13/2007, 5:51 pm EST

also radiohead would be the critical equivalent (everyone praising it even though its garbage) of nickelback (everyone buying it even though its garbage)

fringer p. | 6/13/2007, 5:39 pm EST

does that journey thing really mean tony’s still alive?? i thought the implication was just that chase didn’t want the song to be used with an *on-screen* whacking.

Stuporfly | 6/13/2007, 5:17 pm EST

Stuporfly “nearly bored”, with “bored” being the certain reaction when hearing the forthcoming Radiohead album.

Steve | 6/13/2007, 5:05 pm EST

Radiohead could vomit on a blank CD-R and critics would fall all over themselves trying to tell everyone how good it is.

And I don’t see how the Lolla thing is that tough…whoever gave that Hold Steady guy a microphone should be hanged…even God’s auto-tuner couldn’t help that guy’s vocals.

robert barron | 6/13/2007, 4:28 pm EST

Okay David Chase gave us the final episode without a clear ending. Just stops without finishing, as an English teacher, I understand the concept. Well the viewers can respond, as we must work to pay HBO, Chase gets no more endings starting now. His steak isn’t quite finished broiling at dinner when he eats out. His barber doesn’t trim the cowlick, His grandchildren are taught most of the letters etc. Band together America he’ll come around. The pilot on his trip back from France
drops his butt off just a mile or two before the airport.

Best news ever? Would critics figure out that it’s still ‘rock ‘n roll’ and not some art experiment. Radiohead’s last 3 albums of noise have been awful! Of course I can’t wait for the 4 1/2 stars the next album will receive.
