This was said in a previous post by Brad and it could not have been said better:
“Mellencamp kicks large amounts of ass. One of the great rockers and songwriters ever. Love what he stands for.”
John Mellencamp is the Man…a super individual loaded with talent, and one who cares about people and country! Love You John!

local farming keeps transport costs down as fewer products need to be shipped across the country. Local farming keeps over production in check, and is just a much more democratic distribution of employment–if farms are local, then local taxes are paid, and , a diversified and diffuse system of tax revenue is much healthier to the national economy… To have the event in nyc is just a way of tackling a big issue with marketing in mind. Though they should have the concert in conservative areas as well to broadcast the absurdity of farm states like Kansas supporting the Republicans who only support big business agriculture.

I know that the farms are almost a thing of the past because a lot of my family have been farmers. What I love about Farm Aid, Willie and John, is that they give the farmers hope. I know that they can’t do this alone, but I now they help everyone they can. I love the idea of hope.

We have this problem in the United Kingdom, but until Governments give money to big business the small farmer will lose out.
Good luck in your venture.

As long as the Amish survive, you will still be able to get organic/local grown food. You just may have to drive to get there. Can’t wait for the concert.

As long as it’s being held in NYC the should just call it “Fly-Over Country Aid”. Most New Yorkers are completely skeeved out over farms anyway. They are, however, funny as hell to watch.

The American family farmer is nearly a thing of the past. Not even Willie Nelson can help in the long run.

You will be eating corporate produced garbage exclusively in the near future.

Some of America’s best farmlands sit under strip malls and housing developments. Let’s address the real problem: overpopulation.
