I love to smell my bottom. When my back end is moist I place my forfinger in just the right spot where I know for A fact I will get the results I need.

Should I be surprised that there are still people out there who don’t understand how the concept of reviewing records works? A single reviewer gives their opinion of an album upon its release. That is one person’s opinion. It does not mean that all employees of Rolling Stone past, present and future must agree to feel exactly the same way about said album. Rolling Stone’s prior glowing review of ‘Strays,’ for example, is not relevant here. Daniel Kreps (and Rolling Stone, for that matter) are not waffling. This is another person with a different opinion. If you’re too stupid (or too into Jane’s Addiction) to figure that out, you should have your keyboard taken away from you so the rest of us can be spared this nonsense.

I loved Janes’ first album but to be honest both perry and Dave are both cartoons of their former selves. I really thought Perry had a higher opinion of his self than was warranted! They both need to shut up….nobody cares.

To be honest, If a winehouse vs. moss feud cuts into my book sales or attendence to my book signings, I’m gonna be one angry best selling artist!

When did Navarro become a lefty?

Jane’s Addiction was a great band, and it is always bothersome to see these guys that were so good together act so borishly in their demise.

Nothing Shocking and Ritual was one of the best one-two punches in rock history. Strays had no chance of living up to that. But taken in isolation it is a decent rock record, but a little too slick from a band that lived on atmosphere to butter their bread in its time.

The first 2 Jane’s albums were undeniably great. If you were around at the time, you’ll remember there was nothing else around like them. I was ecstatic when they got back together (albeit without Eric Avery) because they never played anywhere near me back in the day and they were my favorite band.

On that note, “Strays” was one of the biggest musical disappointments of my life. “Just Because” was great but the rest of the album just sounded like no one’s heart was really in it. Just my opinion - and I F**KIN’ LOVED that band the first time around and WANTED to love the new album.

I know rocknroll is only rocknroll but Dave Navarro looks like a cartoon. Rock Star Supernova was just the icing on the cake. The rock stars of today are trying way, way too hard to look the part.

Haissemguy | 6/12/2007, 5:45 am EST

Another fine example of Rollingstone saying one thing then doing a u-turn. It seems you gave Strays 4 stars so what the comment on this page is saying is frankly bull. A breakdown in communications mabey?

Captain Duck | 6/12/2007, 4:16 am EST

Strays was/is a fierce album - Just Because is one of their finest songs

Strays did get four stars, and for some reason, Ritual de lo Habitual only received 2 1/2.

Clearly Ritual is better, but I don’t understand all the Strays bashing. It was a welcome comeback album a few years back, and it still holds up pretty well.

Keith is what rock and roll is all about. Rock on baby.

abandonedstation | 6/11/2007, 9:28 pm EST

come on, guys! everyone knows stephen perkins’ incessant nose-picking was what broke the band up in ‘04 (in 1991, it was heroin). And we should still give props to Ritual de lo Habitual…

I’m putting all my money on a drunken Amy Winehouse breaking that stick Moss in two.

Keith Richards playing in a wheelchair? Maybe it’ll work in a bar, but in an arena with 20,000 people?
Creepy. Hope there’s no colostomy bag to go with it.

Aguilera is pregnant? Don’t look at me, I pulled out.

Nothing Shocking one of hte best ever.

Strays was crap.

And, um yeah I would believe Perry Farrel dissing Dave navarro who was ALWAYS all about being a “rock star” rather than a musician.

SMITH | 6/11/2007, 6:23 pm EST

SORRY FOR DOUBLE POSTING.

SMITH | 6/11/2007, 6:22 pm EST

Anyone who knows anything about rock music knows that all of Janes’ albums are f*cking awesome. Stray’s was very good, maybe not as good as their previous material, but better than any top 40 rock/pop album released the same year. Today’s music sucks. There is nothing out new today from anyone of substance.

hehe | 6/11/2007, 5:50 pm EST

christ, i get so sick of jane’s addiction, i mean those two boneheads made one good album, and they’ve both been coasting on it for almost 20 years now…why do music mags still waste ink on these two has beens?

Zombie | 6/11/2007, 5:35 pm EST

Waffler is correct. Strays by Jane’s Addiction received four stars from Jon Pareles in RS 928 (August 7, 2003.

All RS album reviews are, of course, subject to retroactive revision based on album sales and/or short-sightedness.

Troll Police | 6/11/2007, 5:11 pm EST

Pretty sure the same people who reviewed the album did not write this note of news. Thus different people may have different opinions on the album. This concept of differing opinions is amazing, is it not?

Waffler. | 6/11/2007, 2:30 pm EST

Make up your mind Rollingstone. Didn’t you give Strays 4 stars?
