The decision to release a prisoner and not have them treated by the medical staff of the jail is well within the rights of the Sheriff of Los Angles County. I doubt he would have left this highly publicized and political decision to one of his subordinates. Other inmates are cared for by the competent medical staff of the jail. These include medical issues of a grave nature. Although the sheriff is an elected official and compaign funds are needed to run for office, I do not think this had anything to do with his decision. Maybe the voters of Los Angles County should look to see if there was any favoritism. Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

If anyone is familiar with the criminal justice system they would know that it is very typical to use alternative sentencing to alleviate overpopulated jails for non-violent offenders who qualify. Unless the judge stipulates in sentencing that it is not an option. In this case, it seems the judge did stipulate “no” to alternative sentencing. So that is the entire issue here. Why did the sheriffs dept. defy this order? Dont be surprised if she is returned to custody.
