Photographer Glen E. Friedman is best known for his photos of old school skateboarders, hip-hop and punk rockers, from Black Flag to the Beastie Boys. So we were excited when we heard that he was coming out with a collection of his best shots of D.C. post-punk giants Fugazi. Glad to see there are other people on this post who really know Fugazi was the greatest band of our times…those who don’t “get it” can have their mainstream crap. Fugazi’s anti-corporate stance only added to their greatness, but it wasn’t the reason they were exceptional - their music is among the most intelligent and invigorating ever made. Here’s hoping that someday they’ll reunite and blow our minds again…

anyone that feels fugazi is overrated, knows nothing about true, thought provoking, pure, real, and inspiring artist. the only reason these people feel this way is because they really dont know any better than whats played on mainstream radio. think!

The ONLY reason Fugazi aren’t listed (by critics) among the greatest bands of our generation is because they utterly REFUSED to play the corporate rock star game. I’m not one of those “Die Corporations” kind of guys, but MAN you HAVE to respect a band like Fugazi for sticking to their beliefs AND making amazing music. There isn’t one charting “rock and roll” band on the planet right now that could hold a candle to them. They never gave a shit about being huge, only about their music and ideals and there isn’t enough of that in this world.

Fugazi are one of the few pure and uncorrupt bands in history. Don’t expect them to put on black suits with red ties and eye makeup and sing on MTV. Don’t expect them to put out a dance music album, that just isn’t them.
There are many people out there that would appreciate the band if they were exposed to them. I think this book will help. Thanks to Rolling Stone for putting this at the top of the email list.
Maybe Fugazi would play one Lollapalooza or Reading, or perhaps contribute to a Arbor Day foundation commercial to get some music out there. Kind of like that Dylan commercial for Apple that was out for a week to start some buzz.

This will be an increible book, in fact i’m going to go reserve my advance copy now. can’t wait. all the haters should go find something better to do. fugazi and friedman have a standard that you will never even comprehend. I agree fugazi are without a doubt the most important band of our generation, hands down!

fugazi is another lame college band. If you like garage sounding crap music, then you like fugazi. No talent.

what an idiot, fugazi made music, and so much more, to diss then is to diss yourself. and then you say sonic youth? are you kidding? look up boring and hype in the dictionary and there you will find a photo of sonic youth. you know nothing and we owe you nothing. FUGAZI are inded the greatest most important rock and roll band of our generation.

Fugazi was a lame excuse to make noise. Sonic Youth did it much better. Both bands were not as important as critics would like you to think. No soul.

Amazing Band, so sad they are done!

Fugazi overrated? Uh yeah dude ok. Don’t you have to be rated first before you are overrated?
Ne-Gro | 6/6/2007, 1:25 pm EST
Fugazi was way overrated. Minor Threat had great energy and originality. They just preached too much.

Fugazi….truly the best band on earth. R.I.P
