The fact that Bruce Springsteen has been recording a new album at Southern Tracks Studios with members of The E Street Band is one of the worst kept secrets in rock. The man has been sighted all over town and, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, recently stopped by local record shop and a bookstore to pick up some music related items — including a CD by the Dropkick Murphys, a Jimi Hendrix DVD and a Joe Strummer biography. The article says he was buying them for his kids, but we think that after The Seeger Sessions and Devils and Dust he’s trying to brush up on his rock & roll for his new album. There’s nothing resembling an official word at this point, but all signs point to the album coming out around September with a worldwide E Street Band tour to follow. With Max Weinberg heading to 11:30 with Conan O’Brian in 2009 and Clarence Clemons five years away from the big seven-oh this could very well be the final tour with the full band.

this is definitely a good news…but if you want i let you know one of the best kept secret in rock’n'roll : go to www.myspace.com/rigorighetti and you’ll know…..

Why even bother to compare him to.. Kiss?!?… It’s like comparing the Yankees to the Lakers…
And why assume that Max couldn’t/wouldn/t get a temp leave from Conan in the future as he has in the past, when needed? The “Big 7-0″ aint your father’s 7-0. Rock till you drop.

Leonardo Peixoto is so right… guns were awesome until, of course 93… but bruce have been putting on rock shows since the 70s and they have always been kicking ass… if anyone would watch tenth avenue freeze out from his officially released live dvd from new york city they would know what i’m talking about. his introduction of clarence is historical and priceless… if anyone could perform with that intensity, fire, and happiness, i want a post about that because i wanna see it…

All hail Bruceeeee

Yes Bruce is the best…no one can do what he has done. Three radically different projects in three consecutive years. Devils and Dust solo-folk great showmanship of stories and songwriting, The Seeger Sessions was brilliant fun also genius how he rearranges his own songs, and now most likely a last E Street Album. It quite possibly could be his best since Darkness on the edge of town…the man is the best ever! A Music God!

oh ya! bruce is coming back for yet another epic tour. so how many nights is he going to sell out at the meadowlands this time!! My mom is even talking about flying back east to see him here. because all true fans know there is nothing like seeing the boss “In the great state of new jersey”
all you bruce haters can beat it!!
There is no experience richer than screaming the lyrics to rosalita with 75,000 soaking wet screaming fans! the harder the rain pours the harder bruce works. There is no performer that feeds off the energy of the crowd like bruce does.
amen
so hate on haters!! I am sure bruce will be selling out 25 shows at the meadowlands this time!

Yes, Springsteen with the E Street Band is very good, but NOT as great as the awesome KISS !!
Jim Allen | 6/4/2007, 11:23 am EST
Bruce pringsteen and the E Street Band are the best………period. Comparing them to the garbage we listen to today isn’t fair. Any person who makes disparaging remarks about Springsteen is an idiot. He is, has been, and will always be light years ahead of most.

About Goddamn time…I’m also sick of all that “Elder Statesman” bullshit. If I want to hear politics, I’ll turn on the news. Let these guys have what might be their last tour…kick out the freakin’ jams and rip it up…show us you guys still have it…there’s a reason the E Street Band is legendary…I’ve seen Bruce in virtually every incarnation and nothing, but nothing beats the E-Streeters…Can’t Wait…

I lost complete interest in Springsteen ever since he gre that GOD awful rust belt accent, what’s with that dude? U’re from Jersey!!!

But I must let the show go on! Elderly folks like me recall Lawrence Welk as a tip-top band leader with wide acclaim and through the years youths like Springsteen are really just getting started upon offering the best of the betters. I cannot tell you in all honesty that music isn’t what you make it and within itself will change it’s character and attraction to different groups and sub-cultures that make up the socially diverse population of the (world!) where we all live hopefully at peace and harmony with our “brothers and sisters” so if you don’t like something you don’t! As I listen to the music of today - today is what you make it!
Ragman | 6/4/2007, 6:41 am EST
It would be great if Bruce could control his ego and come off his pretentious elder rocker schtick and release a killer album.
Just one more, Bruce.

Bruce -
Take the night off tonight and jam with The A-Sides at Limmerick Junction…It’s right down the street from Southern Tracks!

To non-musicians out there, I want to point out that when a rock musician goes acoustic, it’s not because they can no longer play rock,it’s just that they’re trying something different. It’s adding to their musical abilities not taking away. Young musicians get their dig from playing with intensity and power, older musicians get their dig from nuance.

Springsteen can be a bit much. In any rockumentary his comments are always the most long-winded and portentous. Enough already with this guy. Then again, why am I watching rockumentaries?

your mom | 6/1/2007, 6:30 pm EST
I’m not going to dignify the idea that his acoustic work doesn’t classify as rock.
Shame on you, rollingstone.com.
doesn’t have much of a ring, does it?
