Steven Tyler is Staying in Aerosmith, Says Daughter Liv

5/30/07, 11:57 am EST

Reports surfaced yesterday that eternally young-ish Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was contemplating leaving the band because his bandmates — sniff — “don’t appreciate him.” According to one of those shifty-eyed anonymous sources we all love so much, Tyler’s daughter Liv was overheard saying that her pops was fixin’ to split due to his unfair treatment. Not so, counters Liv’s rep Steven Huvane. (We knew Joe Perry was a gentle soul!) Huvane told the Post, “Liv never said anything about her father leaving Aerosmith.” So boo-yaa.

anyone who thinks aerosmith sucks is fucking nuts these guys rock harder than the new bands. i think all of there music is very good i have almost all of there albums and i am more impressed with there music than a lot of the new bands. nirvana sucks the lead singer sounds like shit, my chemical romance sucks the lead singer sounds way to whiny, AFI sucks again the lead singer sounds like a woman which is creepy. wow what is up with the lead singers these days most of them suck!!!! aerosmith is way better than any of the new bands.

I was picked by Steven Tyler at a 95 Get a Grip concert to sit on stage. It was heaven. All of Aerosmith treated me with respect. They rock, and always will. Honkin on Bobo was great to. I have been to seven concerts and I was never disappointed. Thanks to Aerosmith for all the good times, keep it up.

Jeffro | 6/5/2007, 12:31 pm EST

Oh please, the band has been around for 35 years, and I love to say this, rocks harder still than any other band out there. Compare them to the train wreck that is the Rolling Stones, or the two guys left claiming to be The Who, or the plethora of other 60’s and 70’s bands that are hanging on by their fingernails, and tell me after all that Aerosmith has gone through that they still don’t sound great. Steven is almost 60 years old and still sounds like he’s 25 on the mic. Joe get’s better with every album.

Cry and whine all you want that they “jumped the shark”. They’ll be laughing in packed sold out stadiums and Steven and the boys howl out their latest single.

Where is is Steven going to go? Who is dumb enough to want him? His lipps get to the stage 5 minutes before the rest of him does! If Joe Perry quits, CNN and Fox will have to hold up the war in the Middle East. The best album they ever had was Pump.”

thats why the joe perry project failed so badly and then again with his latest solo crap. he may play great but someone needs to cut his vocal cords to shut him up. meanwhile steven tylers voice is and has always been on of the best around.

Saw them in Bangalore last saturday

good in patches

time they shut shop

for the parts that were good, they were raw, loud and groovy

for the rest, they seemed bored and not in sync

What a contrast to Maiden who played here in March

Now, they were tight, perfect and divine

Vintage maiden

Bangalore awaits ACDC,Priest and the other gods

: )

Oh, Thank God!

I’d be damned if this group broke up before I’ve seen them in concert for the 3rd time.

Krista | 5/31/2007, 8:53 am EST

to everyone who wants to diss aerosmith: “GET A GRIP” they rock and if you don’t think they do, then you really don’t know what ROCKS!! I hope they stay together long enough for me to see them in concert. ROCK ON!!!!!

ken vail jr | 5/31/2007, 8:34 am EST

ya know AEROSMITH haven’t put out an lp of all-new material in over 6 years….when they were in their heyday on drugs, they put out a new lp every year between 1973 and 1977, and those lp’s were better than the drivel they have released in recent years….so am i saying they should go back on drugs? lol….no i just don’t understand the lack of creativity these days w/ some artists.

blue-eyed soul man | 5/30/2007, 10:37 pm EST

Did a show with them in Boston back in the old days—They rocked with a their own kind of soul. If they can keep working–let them roll–don’t like?-don’t listen

I could hire the band and then
re-record all of chinese democracy and make the fans wait another 15 years.

I thought I might be able to get a job….

Massive Headwound Harry | 5/30/2007, 5:13 pm EST

Aerosmith still rocks. I’ve seen them live 4 times (as recently as a few months ago) and they rocked harder than today’s new rock bands. And are you guys trying to be ‘edgy’ by overusing the term ‘jumped the shark’? So sad.

The big news here is that Aerosmith is still around. I honestly thought they had called it quits years ago. Who listens to these guys anymore?

“Why do you respond if you hate Aerosmith? Why do you take the time to bash them? In my opinion they ROCK and I hope I’ll ever get the chance to see them live.”

Agreed. I have seen them live, and they’re amazing. They get a bad rap these days because their singles are so “pop.” While I can’t always argue with that (ie, “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing,” “Fly Away from Here”), a lot of their album tracks still rock (”Beyond Beautiful,” “Nine Lives”).

In any event, find me a better riff-based band from today’s music. At least Aerosmith can play; current rock bands play the same 4-5 chords over and over with no distinguishing quality.

“easily one of the worst bands of all time”

This coming from someone whose ID tag is Madonna. It’s hard to preach from your high horse when your namesake is responsible for that atrocious cover of “American Pie,” which was already an overplayed and overrated song to begin with.

Don Vito | 5/30/2007, 3:13 pm EST

booby

djbryanflash | 5/30/2007, 3:04 pm EST

Steve is the best frontman in American rock.Freddie from Queen is Englands best.Steven cant quit.Dont give him no lip he’s got enough of his own.

yawn. call me when brad whitford quits. that’s devestating news…

Doughboy | 5/30/2007, 2:39 pm EST

Easily one of the worst bands ever? Umm…okay.

Their Achilles heel are their ballads. Almost uniformly horrible. But the band itself has held up better than any other band from that era. There are gems on each album. Especially Nine Lives. Underrated. The ballads only kinda suck (and one is actually GOOD) and the most of the rest is either decent or great.

But MADONNA…please list other bands as bad as Aerosmith. I’m not even trying to be snarky. I’m genuinely curious.

john S | 5/30/2007, 2:21 pm EST

Did anyone even hear anything from honk’in on bobo? That cd is great.

Bob Saget's Revenge | 5/30/2007, 2:10 pm EST

Aerosmith jumped the shark after get a grip? No. They jumped the shark in about 1979.

Does the theme from Armageddon ring a bell?

Nikkidoo | 5/30/2007, 2:07 pm EST

Remember when people praised Aerosmith and Run DMC for starting the whole rap/rock thing? Is it time to start blaming them for it yet?

“who cares either way? they jumped the shark after Get a Grip.”

Wha?!?!
I think they jumped after “Rocks”.
Although I did like “Pump” quite a bit… ;-)

Ther’s playing in India next month. Way better to watch than the Strolling Bones.

TEABAG | 5/30/2007, 1:04 pm EST

This just means we have to hear Aerosmith for another hundred years.

Moss | 5/30/2007, 12:39 pm EST

Non-news.

Burger King | 5/30/2007, 12:34 pm EST
