Why are you ragging on Nuno? It is so pathetic how insecure musicians and Rolling Stone editors are. I can imagine the their thoughts: “I mean, heaven forbid we like someone like Nuno. He is an incredible and multi-talented musician and all, but he came up in an era that’s so not cool anymore. And nothing is MORE IMPORTANT than being cool. Oh boy, what will the others think if we like Nuno?!?!?”

Pathetic.

God forbid we listen to good musicians such as nuno… keep listening to your R. Kelly’s and Fall Out Boys u morons

stu | 6/1/2007, 5:47 pm EST

nuno’s not just a great guitarist, he’s an amazing musician. I thought the definition of cool is not being afraid to be proud of the things you like.

What more uncool than trying to be cool? Nuno’s cool cos he sticks to his guns and doesn’t pander to the masses like the rest of you media ‘try hards.’

what dorks | 6/1/2007, 8:46 pm EST

On the RS review for Coldplay’s Rush of blood to the head, the reviewer states “the fantastic piano ballad “The Scientist” is an overt sequel to “Yellow” (”Let’s go back to the star”)…” This is the quality of rock journalism RS is all about. First off, the reviewer of the Coldplay album makes an assertion that The Scientist is a sequel to Yellow based on a lyrical passage. Unfortunately, the lyric he writes about is wrong (it’s “take me back to the start”), so it has nothing to do with stars, making his premise absurd and 100% incorrect. But that’s passed off as record reviewing. Nuno Bettencourt is dissed because of More than words. He is a better singer/songwriter/player than everyone who has made the RS cover in the past 10 years, but he does his own thing, and his peers realize he is a superb musician.

Nuno is decent enough (Dave Navarro he isn’t), but Perry Farrell is an Alt-Rock legend, and this music doesn’t live up to his legacy at all.

They’re right that it’s not a great album. They’re wrong that R. Kelly’s is “better” (in what sense did they mean that exactly??… apples are better than oranges?).

They’re wrong about Nuno, to be honest… Perry and Flea did more work on this album than Nuno.

another 'me' | 6/3/2007, 1:42 am EST

just to clarify..you’re wrong about that. flea didn’t do much work on this….nuno and perry did most, with nuno playing bass on a few, guitar on all, mixing, producing, and engineering the cd…while also arranging some string orchestration.

you guys are ridiculous with this album review….I THOUGHT THIS WAS A MUSIC REVIEW? NOT HOW COOL/UNCOOL YOU THINK PEOPLE ARE. one of the best cds of 2007 here and you completely miss it…

You two are idiots! Nuno Bettencourt is an amazing musician. Extreme was a talented amazing band that never got the respect they deserved. Navarro, and others can’t wear his jock! The “guitarists” in the lame ass bands of today need to take notes.

May i point out that opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one, it’s just that music journos are bigger than most. Those that can, do, those that can’t, write about it, thank you and goodnight.
