The hotly anticipated Ian Curtis biopic Control, which was directed by legendary photographer-turned first time filmmaker Anton Corbijn, won the Prix Regards Jeunes (Young Eyes Prize) at Cannes this weekend. We were already excited about the prospect of Corbijn directing the film, and ordinarily we wouldn’t be overwhelmingly convinced of its awesomeness just because the film snobs at Cannes are into it, but after seeing the trailer for the picture (watch it here) we’re pretty stoked. Sam Riley doesn’t look distractingly un-like Ian Curtis, Samantha Morton is always a freaking revelation, and Corbijn financed half of the film’s €4.5million budget out of his own pocket so you know it’s going to feel like a passionate labor of love.

Great! Now it needs to be redone American-style! Jake Glynhall would really bring in the teen demo.
How about it Hollywood?

This film actually looks great. I’m not always a fan of biopics but this one looks like it works. I love Ian and Joy Division so maybe I’m biased, but it definitely looks to be a great film.
