Congrats to Jordin… Blake lewis was my bet to win, but the American idol title this year seemed to be made for Jordin right from the start. No doubt she has good vocals, but it’s Blake that entertains me more.

Congrats to Jordin! I knew she would win had her picked from the start. In answer to the people who thought Melinda should have won…Melinda has awesome talent and she doesn’t need the American Idol crown. She will make it big just like Jennifer Hudson did. You do not need to be the American Idol to get that record deal or to prosper in the business. American Idol is the biggest audition for all contestants for every record producer to watch for talent. I wouldn’t worry about Blake or any of your other favorites. Jordin is young and will be very marketable, they have alot to work with. Blake is good in his own right, but beatboxing won’t get him very far. Beatboxing tends to go towards the 12 year old crowd as my daughter is 12 and every single one of her friends voted for Blake. Whereas Jordin appeals to all ages. In the end, it really doesn’t matter who wins it is what they do with their national exposure that matters and if they are managed correctly. Good Luck to all of them and I look forward to Jordin’s debut CD and look forward to seeing them all in concert!

Congrats to young Jordin Sparks, who won the Q-rating contest long before AI’s final show. Jordin’s face just eats up the camera lens. At only 17 Hollywood has a long time to develope this gorgeous youngster and she looks to be a multi media threat as well.

For those who like to put down TV talent contests (AI is NOT the first) let me remind you that shows like the old Ted Mack Amatuer hour brought us Gladys Knight, Leslie Uggams and several other (now) legendary artists.

The music industry mill can only take you so far and a career that can last through several phases depends upon the artists desire to develop their talent. I look for this kid Jordin to slim down, get made over and appear in Films and TV shows, all the while cranking out good music.

The songwriters acting as mentors during the competition really liked her (Melinda too) and that’s not a small thing.

I think her early challenge will be her weight. If she thinks Hollywood’s gonna allow her to munch big macs and remain a zoftig teenager she’s sadly mistaken. If she works at it she’ll be one of the prettiest singers out there… watch out Mariah, there’s a young cutie yapping at your heels.

She’s only 17 and the world is at her feet… I think she’s gonna soar!

Wow Beelay ..Did you have a dozen beers when you thought that one up. I am a competitive singer and a Karaoke DJ (KJ). Singing Karaoke is one thing but performing in competition is a whole other thing.
As for your comments about American Idol being lame and that nobody will remember these people 10 years from now. I would bet you that Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jordin will still be putting out hits in 10 years. The show gave these great singers and many others a chance that they would probably have never gotten without the show. If you don’t like the music don’t listen and allow the rest of us to enjoy their talent. America got it right again. The top 2 belonged there!

Justin Timberlake writes the same song over and over again. How many times can he write about breaking up with , cheating on, being cheated on by, and wheeling chicks. How this guy gets with Jessica Biel, Scarlett Johansson and Cameron Diaz is beyond me. He’s bound to fade into oblivion sooner or later.

I agree with Kat, Melinda is good, and you don’t have to win the competition to sell thousands of records, or even get a contract. I think the summer tour may show a different set of skills. They will be performning in front of much larger live audiences, and they’ll have to be at the top of their game every night for three months, not just two nights a week.

Jordin was the best from the begining. For everyone that thinks she shouldn’t be in the final just think of Barry Gibbs comment. He is one of the most sucessful singer/songwriters in history and predicted that she will be one of the highest selling singers of all time. Yes Melinda can sing but she has no market appeal. What did he say about her? Hopefully America gets it right tonight. Then she can join Kelly and Carrie as the idols that go on and make #1 hits that are bought because they are talented and not because of hype. Chris should have won last year and the people who buy the cds are proving that now.

whoa, suddenly everyone gives a shit…I don’t watch “AI,” but I know from what I’ve read that the story doesn’t end with the winner of the competition. The public votes with its wallets when the albums come out, and the winner during the actual season ain’t necessarily gonna come out on top. Consider Chris Daughtry, who I think took fourth but came out way ahead of the first and second place finishers in terms of actual album sales just by ripping off Nickelback (I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit, but I digress).

Nowadays, unfortunately, the “sing factor” is not 100% of the package. Take a look at Sanjaya. He definitely can not sing as a pro but he has all other features the music industry needs to sell their products. Melinda is a PRO: she is gorgeous, and is maybe one of the best singers American Idol ever had but her shyness is an issue. She would and deserves to win this edition but, Jordin although her rawness has all the elements to win it.
That said. I prefer Melinda but Jordin wins. Been the number one doesn’t mean you can not rock the world. Melinda is superb and will be at the top charts soon. That matters! And that will happen!

This Jordin is only a teen, withour experience in life, when she sings I can’t feel anything. Melinda should have been in the top 2 at least. It seems that America is totally deaf. Too many teens voting 100 hundred times. That’s not right at all. The best singer this season is Melinda.
