Bo Diddley

After a concert held at Council Bluffs, Iowa on May 13th, legendary blues guitarist Bo Diddley was taken to the hospital where it was determined he had suffered a stroke. Diddley is now in intensive care at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. A spokesman said that the 78-year old, who has a history of hypertension and diabetes, is experiencing effects of the stroke on the left side of his brain, where speech and speech recognition centers are located. More details to follow.

Diddley came in at number 20 on Rolling Stone’s list of the fifty greatest artists of all time. Go here to read Iggy Pop’s take on Diddley’s genius, then read Neil Strauss’ excellent profile of The Originator, “The Indestructible Beat of Bo Diddley.”
