When Paul McCartney sat down with producer David Kahne to record his latest album, Memory Almost Full, which comes out June 5th, the ex-Beatle said he wanted it to compare to everything he’d ever done. “I said ‘Everything?’” Kahne recalls. “He said ‘Everything.’ He was looking to make something great.” We’ve had a chance to listen to the new disc, McCartney’s first since 2005’s Grammy-nominated Chaos and Creation in the Backyard, and while it’s not quite Sgt. Pepper’s, it’s pretty great. The album has a retrospective feel, with nods to McCartney’s discography: “Nod Your Head” sounds like “Come Together” and “Only Mama Knows” feels like a more metal version of “Helter Skelter.” The second half includes a five-song medley that recalls side two of Abbey Road. The medley revisits different eras of the musician’s life – from childhood summers by the sea to the experience of getting old and looking back – but it never sounds nostalgic or especially sad. On the contrary, Macca seems to embrace the future, in both the lyrics and music: On “Vintage Clothes,” he sings “Don’t live in the past/Don’t hold on to something that’s changing fast,” before Trent Reznor-ish industrial effects drop in, giving the song an eminently modern veneer. McCartney has also made several moves leading up to the release that signal his embrace of change. He left Capitol Records last year and signed with Starbucks’ new label Hear Music, which will release Memory Almost Full. He has also agreed for the first time to release all of his solo music digitally and just shot a video for album opener “Dance Tonight,” directed by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry, and starring Natalie Portman. “‘Memory Almost Full’ is a phrase that seemed to embrace modern life,” McCartney, in a letter released to the public, said of the album title, which came to him after the message popped up on his cell phone. “In modern life, our brains can get a bit overloaded.”

Jealousy is such a foolish way to express yourself, so unbecoming. If you don’t like Paul McCartney, stay off this topic which is for people who DO like Paul Mccartney’s new CD……really quite simple for normal people to grasp.

The lyrics simplistic, the music just as bad. My impression was that this CD was done in an afternoon! If it didn’t have Paul’s name on it, it wouldn’t have been released.

Paul is true genius and anyone who cannot see that show how shallow they are.

My fave Macca’s see my post from 5/17…oh and add “Memory Almost Full” to the top tier !! It is that great ! I don’t have much doubt it will be my favorite album of the year…the only I can say I like better this decade is Paul Simon’s “Suprise” (though “Chaos & Creation” is its equal & kudos to Brian Wilson’s decades old “SMiLE”) I wouldn’t argue with anyone who says this is his best solo work…talk about your Autumnal renassiances !! From 1989 (Flowers In The Dirt) to this one…Macca is on one incredible hot streak…MAF- great songwriting, great playing, great singing, great production & arrangements !!!! I only wish “Nod Your Head” had been a terrific bonus track…”The End Of The End” is, well, the perfect ending…can’t wait to hear the three bonus tracks !!!! Blessings

I thought that this was album was different from all the rest he has done a little bit of a new wave for music. Although i did not like it at first the more I listened to it the more I enjoyed It.

I havent heard the full album yet; just the two released “Ever Present” & “Dance Tonight.” I liked both but can’t help but feel Paul is not keeping up with the latest sound. In the 60’s, its safe to say that fab four effectively set the sound for other bands to live up too. Plus I miss the “Jet”, “Juniors Farm”, “Helter Skelter” hard driving tunes he is capable of creating. I’ve often considered sending Paul some Nirvana, OK Go, Space Hog, Eeel’s and Eve 6– just to make sure he hears some the comtempory heavier songs. I hope the rest of the Mem Almost Full is as good as I read here.

Press to Play was a great album. You should listen to it closely. So to the other albums “Move Over Buskers!”
Plus “I’ve Had Enough” when people say that London Town was average. It leaves Driving Rain driving in the rain.
But, they are all good and some are great.

JW | 5/20/2007, 9:03 am EST
How is it possible that an almost 65-year old man can sing like on ‘That was me’ and ‘Only mama knows’???? This is realy incredible!!
Dutchie | 5/20/2007, 8:58 am EST
Can’t stop listening to ‘Mr. Bellamy’. That song represents everything McCartney is. What a melody!! What a rhythm!! What a diversity!! Genious!!!! If he would have written this as a Beatle, it would have been an all time classic like ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Yesterday’ etc.. I’m very very very very very very sure of that.
For the rest. Don’t waste too much time on ‘Gratitude’ and ‘Nod Your Head’. I will never understand such choices. Pitty! The other songs are really great, even better than ‘Chaos’ in my humble opinion. Some have to grow (You Tell Me, Only Mama Knows, House of Wax (epic song!!)) and others are there from the very first start (Ever Present Past, Dance Tonight) and they never leave your head.
Conclusion: after the average ‘Driving Rain’ and the outstanding ‘Chaos and Creation in the Backyard’, Paul McCartney proves he is still a big man in music business with his great new album!
Patrick | 5/20/2007, 4:52 am EST
I was a little aprehensive about this because “Chaos and Creation” was so good. It really showed he talents as a writer are both exciting and undiminished. Another two albums at the level of Chaos and Paul would being lauded as a genius reborn and the pedastal Dylans been sitting pretty would have been seriously overshadowed. I heard a friend’s advance copy. I’m gutted that he’s unfortunately gone back to “fill an album up and put it out - i don’t care what people say I’m doing this because i enjoy it” mode.
He doesn’t really have to worry about ” a legacy” . He’s got that in the bag a million times over. and comment pages like these don’t even have the opportunity to become tommorows chip paper but for what it’s worth…
This guy is still amazing. This album on so many levels is not . Is it right to have a go at him for it? Probably not in the grand scheme of things.
On the other hand there’s probably not that many more albums to be had from Paul . It would be such a great thing if he could restrain himself via people like Godrich and simply do justice to himself as a writer. To produce some sublime songs right in the later stages of his career on a run of albums would be such an amazing way to frame up an already amazing life. But hell. It’s his life. And they’ll always be an ocean of gratitude for all the inspired stuff he’s given us over the last 45 years or so.
Chaz | 5/19/2007, 9:59 pm EST
Hey Folks I’m nodding my head, yes nodding my head as I am in awe of McCartney’s talent. He has created a brilliant album. MAF has some wonderful harmonies, unbelievable bass lines and Paul’s voice at 65 is simply remarkable. Too many delights to mention on MAF but ‘See Your Sunshine’ is fantastic and I cannot stop singing ‘And I find it very, very, very, very, very, very hard’ on ‘Feet In The Clouds’ Oh my god ‘Mr Bellamy’ is an instant classic. Love this album. You all out there have got to get it. If you really love this baby NOD YOUR HEAD. Like I said before i’m nodding.
Artie Fields | 5/19/2007, 11:50 am EST
The critics hailed the last album, Chaos and Creation in the Backyard, and I thought it was just ok. A few tunes were up to Paul’s standards.
So, I am little skeptical, but I’m sure I will wind up getting it anyway.
Warpman2 | 5/19/2007, 10:58 am EST
I’ve been playing Beatles & solos for over 40 4ears on the radio and I’d place Paul 3rd behind John & George. But, as is generally true the whole is always stronger than it’s parts. If the top two are gone, I guess that makes you the man.

There will never be better music or another Paul MaCartney or Beatles. That is the farthest music can go. I love “My Beatles”
nick | 5/19/2007, 2:03 am EST
Sorry, but this album is a “mess.” I would say he has lost his gift of melody but he composed some of his best melodies on “Chaos” so that can’t be it. This is tuneless, forgettable and the lyrics are amatuerish and cliched- typical nonsense and 4th grade rhymes. Interesting piano lick on “Mr. Bellamy” but it is more like a showtune than an album track. After the excellent “Chaos,” he’s back to his tired old tricks.

Macca has made another amazing record! My career inspiration! I still wait for a Macca release just like the old days. The Beatles break-up wasn’t bad because it gave me four times the music in solo records. God Bless Sir Paul and his family. By the way labels, this is the way you roll out a record today! “…and the ring at the end of my nose makes me look rather pretty!” That’s Rock & Roll my friends!
Norman | 5/18/2007, 5:32 pm EST
Anybody that doesn’t like the Beatles hasn’t listened to them. They are by far the greatest group ever, and they did it in such a short time. Paul has and is probably the most versatile singer and musician ever. There are only two or three songwriters that have been as prolific and great as Paul McCartney; Lennon and the incomparable Bob Dylan. For all time writers I will give the nod hands down to Dylan. Dylan is a great musician but not as versatile as Mr. McCartney. It is amazing that Paul continues to make grat albums, and this one is right up there, only a year and a half after the last one. U2 got the grammy for album of the year in 2006, but listen to Chaos and How to dismantle an atomic bomb, Chaos is better. Dylan should have won album of the year in 2007, for Modern, but then he should have won at least six times for album of the year. McCartney has truly been ripped off. He gets nominated but he never wins. Just compare. Paul Simon has always had a lot more help with his twenty musicians. My two favorites of all time are Dylan and McCartney. For Dylan to say that the only person that he is in awe with is McCartney is the all time tribute. Dylan knows.

I’ve had the luck to hear the new album several times now. It is absolutely fantastic. First impression was maybe a bit strange, but after relistening it opens up.
Dance Tonight sounds simple, but subtle and happy. Ever Present Past somehow reminds me a bit of Keep Under Cover, but of course different. Catchy vocal harmony line on See Your Sunshine. Beautiful intro of Only Mama Knows, followed by heavy rock. Mister Bellamy is very surprising, like a mini rock musical - wow! That Was Me is a great rocker (is that the Hofner bass?). Feet in the Clouds has a fascinating vocal part. House of Wax is superb, absolutely majestic, maybe the best song of the album. Followed by the beautiful End of the End and a nice stomping Nod Your Head.
The new album is very surprising and versitale. Listen to it a couple of times before you judge! MAF has melodic songs AND shows again that Paul can rock, lot of heavy stuff (who said that Paul was just the soft Beatle?)
It is amazing that Paul did ALL the instruments (except the strings)! Paul, you did a splendid job again, please keep making albums like this! You are really a true genius, incredible!!
JASIV | 5/17/2007, 11:09 pm EST
This is simply the best stuff I’ve heard from Paul McCartney since Flowers In The Dirt. Wow….I’m so suprised ’cause I didn’t think it would be this good. You heard so much about Driving Rain and Chaos, and you expect it to be about on par with those, but….it’s much MUCH better. Prepare for megapraise.
Moes Fan | 5/17/2007, 10:41 pm EST
The band Moes Haven wrote an album inspired by Paul’s best album, RAM. It’s called “SIR PAUL MADE RAM. WE MADE THIS.” Pretty funny. Wonder if Paul has heard it.
Anonymous2 | 5/17/2007, 9:52 pm EST
The thing that bothers me the most about Paul’s recent work is the fact that he doesn’t set lyrics to music nearly as well as he did before. Seems like this problem shows up quite frequently in his recent writing. Didn’t hear any of those kinds of problems in Beatles, Wings or early solo collections. The words may not have always been profound, but they always sounded good. Guess it is a problem with pop music in general — or maybe I’m just getting old and critical.

Oh Yeah…almost forgot…Run Devil Run has a few great originals amongst the amazing cover versions, and is a great one…the earlier “Russian” album of covers is good as well, but Run Devil Run is the better of the two…I truly do hope he tours !!!
Rev. John C. Link | 5/17/2007, 11:07 am EST
Hmmmm…best places to start for solo McCartney… Top Shelf (in no particular order)-Band On The Run, Ram, Flaming Pie, Off The Ground, Chaos & Creation In The Backyard…Second Tier (again in no order & still classics)- Venus & Mars, Back To The Egg, Flowers In The Dirt, Tug Of War, Driving Rain. Now that is 5 albums from ‘70-’88, and 5 from ‘89-’05…special mention to Off The Ground especially, and Back To The Egg, as his two most underrated/overlooked albums !!
I’ve heard two full songs, and 30 sec.- 1 minute clips from all the others on Memory Almost Full and me thinks it’ll be either a top level or Second Tier album…I love all I’ve heard so far !!…
The only Macca albums of original material that I think are really far below par would all be from the 80’s- McCartney II, Pipes Of Peace, & Press To Play (Give My Regards To Broad Street is a soundtrack that is one to avoid until the end as well- although all of these do have some great tracks on them)…I should give mention to some other fine works- McCartney, Red Rose Speedway in particular…followed by Wings Wild Life, and then finally Wings At The Speed Of Sound, and lastly and leastly of what’s left would be London Town …All the live albums are terrific, with Wings Over America probably being the best, and Wingspan is a great place to start…since you’ll find lots of non-album singles and b-sides to boot.

Mccartney for the Uninitiated/Non-fan
People who diss mccartney are generally people who have only listened to his singles since the beatles. Two things I would suggest before passing judgement. Find copies of Ram (With Bonus Tracks)and Band on the Run (anniversary edition has the best sound quality) and listen to the entire albums. If you still don’t like Paul after that, you simply don’t like paul. In fact, you may just not like pop rock music in general. Thos discs are pretty delicious.
If you do like them, wait until the back catalogue goes digital and download the following tracks into the following 80 minutes of mccartney set. Mind you, I’m being very selective here but if you like this stuff, then you might go check out the albums.
1. Vintage Clothes from MAF
2. Another Day from Wingspan
3. Young Boy from Flaming Pie
4. Maybe I’m Amazed from Wings Over America
5. Band on the Run from Wingspan
6. Jet from Wingspan
7. Only Momma Knows from MAF
8. No Words from Band on the Run
9. Deliver Your Children from London Town
10. Live and Let Die from Wingspan
11. Dear Boy from Ram
12. With a Little Luck from Wingspan
13. Take it Away from Tug of War
14. Daytime Nightime Suffering from Wingspan
15. Beware My Love from Wings at the Speed of Sound
16. Oh Woman Oh Why from Ram
17. Mr. Bellamy from MAF
18. Too Much Rain from Chaos
19. Every Night from Unplugged
20. Uncle Albert from Ram
21. Tomorrow From Wingspan
22. Junk from Mccartney
This selection leaves out some great songs, three in particular from Flowers in the Dirt: Put it There, My Brave Face, and This One. But I couldn’t replace anything on this and 80 minutes is 80 minutes.

Even John Lennon was a Beatles fan. If your not you should listen to what ever disposable pop that turns your crank, but you have to at least acknowledge what they did in the short time they were recording.
As far as Sir Pauls solo work it has been hit and miss since the Beatles but he always has one or two tracks that are great, with few exceptions. I will alway give any new album a listen for this reason. He is a music legend and should be given the respect he has earned from anybody that likes pop music in any form. Without his body of work, most if not all of todays bands would not be. I am not saying everyone should be a fan, but to not give credit where credit is due is plain ignorance.

Charlie Miller: You don’t get it because you can’t except that you are wrong. Wings is not all crap. Start with Ram, Band on the Run and Red Rose Speedway. Three 4 star albums. Oh, and to whomever likes Back to the Egg: Last night I ranked my favorite Paul albums 1-21, and Back to the Egg was tied with Off the Ground, Give my Regards and Pipes of Peace for last place. To each his own, I guess.
surly | 5/16/2007, 1:04 pm EST
the words here come ol’ flattop were inspired by chuck berry but the entire song was not a rip off.
Charlie Miller | 5/16/2007, 12:52 pm EST
I don’t get it, Paul hasn’t done all that much good stuff outside of the Beatles. Wings was utter crap, too. Ew.
Wally | 5/16/2007, 12:18 pm EST
No, first timer, you’re not the only one. Back to the Egg is a great album! Paul shows his adeptness at wildly different musical styles, and his team spirit by including Denny Laine’s great song, “Again and Again and Again”. I can’t wait to hear this new album from Sir Paul.
jungleland | 5/16/2007, 12:14 pm EST
The Great Ones:
Band On The Run
Venus & Mars
Flaming Pie
Back To The Egg
McCarteny I
Also, Wings Over America is a fantasic live album.
Singles - Hi,Hi,Hi , Juniors Farm, No More Lonely Nights
Flowers In The Dirt and Off The Ground are better than they get credit for. Driving Rain and Chaos are not as good as they get credit for.
I’d like to see a pt 2 of Wingspan to cover the 1985 - 2007 material (guess that’s what the ipod is for)..or maybe now that Paul has ditched Capitol, they will do something like this.
first timer | 5/16/2007, 11:54 am EST
it was released around the time paul got busted in japan, wasn’t it?
njoy rock | 5/16/2007, 11:52 am EST
Not a great a album, but I liked it too! I really think that if Wings stayed together, this was going to be their sound.
first timer | 5/16/2007, 11:43 am EST
Am I the only paul fan who loved, and still loves, Back to the Egg?
group5 | 5/16/2007, 11:31 am EST
um…I would identify as a McCartney admirer, and I’ve liked the great majority of his work, so maybe I’m missing something here. I’ve heard the album (was looking forward to hearing it actually), and…I just don’t think this album is that great. And I really think if it wasn’t an ex-Beatle making it, no one would be tossing some of these superlatives around. It’s not terrible, but it’s not particularly memorable or good either. Average at best.
Jingle Lingle | 5/16/2007, 11:25 am EST
Boooooring! Macca sorry pack-it-in…
Winona | 5/16/2007, 11:25 am EST
It will be interesting to hear a rockin’ album from Macca after Chaos (which, incidentally, is one of the few albums that soothes my infant daughter when she’s fussy).
Joe | 5/16/2007, 10:46 am EST
The best McCartney effort in the past ten years, clearly, is “Liverpool Sound Collage.” Nothing else comes close, although “Chaos and Creation” was OK.
jonwithnal | 5/16/2007, 10:41 am EST
The record reviews in RS have no credibility whatsoever - they gave a Mick Jagger solo album 5 stars for god’s sakes….christalmighty!
Brad | 5/16/2007, 9:56 am EST
The medley is better than that on RRS, but its not Abbey Road! Stop those silly comparisons.
STRATCAT | 5/16/2007, 9:47 am EST
I am so psyched to hear the new album!
I saw Paul in 90 and he rocked.
Fave Paul Albums are of course Band on the run(Love 1985 and the whole thing),
Tug of War and the underrated Back to the egg where Paul sings his most rocking solo vocals ever matched by some kick ass rockers and cool ballads.
Macca rocks!
Bill Bones | 5/16/2007, 9:32 am EST
let it be was cool
cdubya | 5/16/2007, 9:11 am EST
Paul is back, yet again! I love it. I’ve only heard a track or two and have scoured Limewire for others, but to no avail. I love CHAOS and especially “Riding To Vanity Fair.” I’ll miss Nigel’s production style, but Kahne’s is quite good, too. Good for you, Sir Paul. You deserve to get out of John’s shadow. It’s about time to see others embrace his role as one of rock’s LIVING legends. Fave albums? Ummm, FLOWERS, TUG OF WAR, DRIVING RAIN, RAM, BAND ON THE RUN, CHAOS, FLAMING PIE, and VENUS AND MARS. Least? PRESS, RUN DEVIL RUN, and thankfully RETURN TO PEPPERLAND didn’t see release. I did like the Phil Ramone produced tracks, like the original cut of “Beautiful Night” and “Lindiana.” Rock on, Macca…
Solid Effort | 5/16/2007, 7:55 am EST
Best 10:
Ram
Band On The Run
These two compare to most beatle albums
Mccartney
Flaming Pie
Memory Almost Full
Tug Of War
Venus and Mars
Chaos and Creation
Flowers In the Dirt
London Town (not for everyone)ties with Wings at the Speed of Sound (hey, if you like disco)
Worst
Press To Play (Horrid)
Pipes of Peace (Unforgiveable)
Off the Ground (Dull)
Wild Life (Inconsequential)
Back to the Egg (Bad, but some great alternate tracks)
Give My Regards (really a compilation, has no more lonely nights on it)
Driving Rain (though some people love this album and it has a personal favorite–your way–and the great, experimental Rinse the Raindrops)
Run Devil Run (average, great title track though)
For every good album, there is nearly always one bad one. That hasn’t been true recently, however.

The Beatles never repeated themselves. Each album was different. They were trying new things, exploring new ideas each outing unlike most every other artist/group of their day…or now. Their five greatest (and five of the greatest albums of all time) in five consecutive years: Rubber Soul; Revolver; Sgt Pepper’s; The White Album and Abbey Road were all different from each other. Now Paul is coming up with a followup album to Chaos that is totally different. That’s genius. If some new artist did that and penned all the tunes and played all of the instruments on most of the cuts, he would be praised to the heavens. Paul deserves no less. Dylan is right to be in awe of Paul.
JD | 5/16/2007, 1:25 am EST
in my opinion these are the best 5 Macca albums:
Ram
Band on the Run
Tug Of War
Flaming Pie
Chaos
The worst? Probably Press to Play
Tom | 5/16/2007, 1:07 am EST
Brother Paul is a genius, and he has always appeared humble as well. May Jesus Christ bless him and all his intentions.

macca’s voice has faded, but it remains one of the best voices around.
as for the album . . . it’s awesome. Ever Present Past is like a track left off yellow submarine. Dance Tonight sounds like something from his first solo album. See Your Sunshine sounds like a better wings song. I could go on, but you get the point. It’s also worth mentioning that although there are familiar sounds, Macca still adds new twists. It’s like a best of compilation, but it’s all new recordings.
Bernie Conlee | 5/15/2007, 11:06 pm EST
All I can say about some of the idiot posts I have read, is just read Bob Dylan’s quote about Paul…”McCartney is the only person that I am in awe with”…
If the Great Bob Dylan says that then Mr. McCartney is one talented musician. I can’t wait to get the new CD. The great thing is that he follows Chaos with something totally different. That’s talent!
Daniel | 5/15/2007, 10:09 pm EST
This album is great!!! “Only mama knows”, “Mr. Bellamy” and “House of wax” are some of the better songs in MCartney’s discography.
Solid Effort | 5/15/2007, 9:31 pm EST
As for his voice, well, neither was JC’s on the American Records. Paul can still carry a tune better than most people. And on this disc, he seems to have found his range. There’s less straining here (except when he is TRYING to strain in his Oh Darling Voice). I’m pretty amazed at how young he sounds, actually. I should say too that I do not like all McCartney albums. Press, Pipes of Peace, Off the Ground, Back to the Egg, were all awful IMHO. I also hate Off the Ground. You can pretty much spot a Mccartney fanatic by their love of any of those albums. I didn’t even like all of Chaos. But this album really coheres. Even the Central ballad, You Tell Me, sung in a creepy falsetto, is genuinely moving and well-written. Its not Paul trying to sound bitter, its a Bitter Paul that I don’t remember hearing since For No One. Honestly, Only Momma Knows, You Tell Me, Mr. Bellamy, and Vintage Clothes stand up to the Wings Catalogue and Could each fit as a solid minor track on any Beatles Album. And no, I haven’t been smoking the Cannibis. But if “Mr Bellamy” is an indication, Paul is certainly back to imbibing. Good for him. If I spent four years married to Heather Mills, I’d want to smoke myself into oblivion.
Solid Effort | 5/15/2007, 9:23 pm EST
Look, there is almost no effort at all to recreate a Beatles sound on this album. Even on Chaos the only song that sounded remotely Beatle-like was Jenny Wren, and even that, not so much.
Having listened to the album, I don’t think this sounds like anything he’s done before. For one thing, his recent harmonies, on both this album and chaos are much more reminiscent of Queen than either the Beatles or Wings. I keep trying to place this one by comparing it to other albums he has done, but I keep failing. This is pretty fresh. I know that people are slagging it because of the first two singles. But judging MAF on Dance Tonight is a little like judging Ram on “Ram on” or McCartney on “Lovely Linda”. There is so much more to this.
Mike/Houston,TX. | 5/15/2007, 9:09 pm EST
Paul McCartney’s voice is not what it used to be anymore, period. He’s had a long run - 40 plus years - mostly his die hard fans remain from his Beatle days. In the 70’s, the next generation of teens, us/we liked his Wings era. After that, it fizzles out.

HEY THIS AINT DRIVING RAIN Pt.2… ITS JUST GREAT. JUST RIGHT. JUST MACCA!
ken vail jr. | 5/15/2007, 6:18 pm EST
i have enjoyed paul’s last 3 or 4 studio lp’s a great deal, and look forward to hearing this one very much.
Sherry | 5/15/2007, 5:37 pm EST
He’s a damn genuis and I’m so glad that he’s still relevant and making great music.
Evan | 5/15/2007, 5:23 pm EST
Paul is trying his hardest to get that old Beatles sound.. and he is failing miserably.
Brien Comerford | 5/15/2007, 5:09 pm EST
Paul McCartney has boundless talent thereby making it very possible for him to compose a masterpiece! I have enjoyed all of His CD’s and my favorite “Off The Ground” was bashed by the media. Vegetarians rule evidenced by the virtuousity of McCartney, Morrissey, Moby, Jeff Beck and The Church.
Solid Effort | 5/15/2007, 4:28 pm EST
I Liked “See Your Sunshine” but that may be because I love Paul’s Bass Playing. I’m basically following the bass line on that. The lyrics start off badly, but improve after that. Maybe I just don’t care for the mandolin? But “Only Mamma Knows” and “Vintage Clothes” are great rock and pop respectively. And “Mr. Bellamy” is a work of pure goofy demented genius.
Jaypea | 5/15/2007, 4:23 pm EST
Solid Effeort: I’m surprised think “Dance Tonight” is god-awful! For me, it was “See Your Sunshine” ( sounds like something off of “Pipes of Peace”). Everything else on the album I thought was better-than-your-average McCartney. Overall, it’s obvious a lot of care and effort went into this, and he’s singing with more feeling and effort than he has in years.
Solid Effort | 5/15/2007, 3:54 pm EST
I’ve listened to it. If you can listen past the first track–which is god-awful, there is a great effort here. Some wonderful melodies and harmonies and even one legit ROCK song.
You have to like Paul’s more eccentric stuff like Ram, but if you do, you’ll probably like this
jungleland | 5/15/2007, 3:24 pm EST
Hope it’s as good as Flaming Pie, his last GREAT record (the last two are ok, not bad, not great)
TruthHertz | 5/15/2007, 3:22 pm EST
Who cares?
Paul will release it, you will buy it.
Paul will tour, you will pay through the nose.
Paul will get paid, and that hosebag Ex of his won’t get any $$$.
I still couldn’t care any less.

Chaos and Creation was a fantastic record

paul is a great poet his poetry speaks my language.
he keeps me sane in an insane world
Stuporfly | 5/15/2007, 1:32 pm EST
I’d love to believe it, but Macca’s burned me before. If it’s as good as Flowers In the Dirt - the last album of his I really liked - I’ll be happy.
abandonedstation | 5/15/2007, 1:30 pm EST

Sounds interesting. Maybe I should pre-order this off iTunes. Or should I wait for a REAL review.
Max Buzz | 5/15/2007, 1:02 pm EST
Never trust an RS album review!
It’s been so long since Pauly put out a real rock and roll album and he has a history of releasing material that seems to be anti-rock.
Steve | 5/15/2007, 12:49 pm EST
McCartney does rock, though, no doubt.
Steve | 5/15/2007, 12:48 pm EST
You guys raved about Driving Rain, but I didn’t like that one, so I am skeptical.
joe | 5/15/2007, 12:45 pm EST
Actually, Come Together was a Chuck Berry ripoff (Lennon openly admitted), the only thing separating it at all from Berry’s song was Paul’s bassline.
love it. | 5/15/2007, 12:33 pm EST
Paul is a great artist. His good undertsanding of pop music is unmatched.Don’t forget how great the group Wings was.Always a fan.
:)
Marshall | 5/15/2007, 12:29 pm EST
“Come Together” isn’t a Paul song, silly.
Steve | 5/15/2007, 12:15 pm EST
Well, hopefully it’ll be slightly more stimulating than the snore-fest that was “Chaos.”
He has one of the best drummers in the business in Abe Laboriel Jr., so why does he use him so little on his studio albums?
John Lennon | 5/15/2007, 12:14 pm EST
God would you people give it a rest already!!! The beatles suck! they alwats did.. Sir Paul is a loser!!!
