
- It’s been a wild last few days for Amy Lee. First she had to rid herself of pesky bandmates, then, over the weekend, she apparently got married — to a therapist, no less! Congratulations Amy.
- Busta Rhymes rejected a New York prosecutor’s plea deal that would have landed him in jail for a year for a assault but would have allowed him to escape punishment for the other 584,000 infractions he’s made against the law in the last year. In the last ten months Busta has been arrested four times, including early Thursday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence.
- Bidders at a Grateful Dead memorabilia auction yesterday paid more than $1.1 million at auction for Grateful Dead-related stuff including $312,000 for a cream-colored 1975 Travis Bean electric guitar that belonged to Jerry Garcia among other items.
- Former MTV producer Terrance Dean has written a memoir titled Hiding in Hip-Hop: Confessions of a Down Low Brother in the Entertainment Industry. The book details “the author’s life as a closeted homosexual working in the film and music industry and his relationships with other closeted homosexuals—film stars, rap artists, and music producers.” Juicy.
- Last week, the Smashing Pumpkins’ Chicago rehearsal studio was robbed, the band’s management said in a statement, the full text of which appears after the jump. The perpetrators are now in jail.
“Management for the Smashing Pumpkins confirms that the band’s rehearsal studio in Chicago was burglarized last week.“The two people who are now in jail illegally gained access to the band’s private space and stole various items belonging to them over the course of several hours while the band had left for the evening.
“The band’s management says the group feels their rights have been violated by this crime and will always pursue their rights and the law to protect their property and the safety of themselves, their families and their fans.”
