Yesterday at the Phil Spector trial Dianne Ogden, a former assistant to Spector, testified that the legendary producer threatened to shoot her in 1989 when she refused to have sex with him. She also called Spector “demonic” and claimed he once chased her car while brandishing an Uzi submachine gun. Ogden is one of many former Spector associates being called to the stand to establish that the legendary producer had a history of luring women to his home and pulling guns on them when they tried to leave. Prosecutors also played the jury an answering machine message Spector left for his former girlfriend Dorothy Melvin in 1993 after he allegedly pulled a shotgun on her. “Be very careful what you say to me because nothing is worth your life,” the message said. On February 3, 2003 Lana Clarkson was found dead in Spector Alhambra mansion. The b-movie actress was shot in the mouth at close range and was found with her purse draped over her shoulder, bolstering prosecutors claims Spector murdered her when she tried to leave. Spector has plead not guilty.

every woman who had this happen and didn’t call the cops should spend a year in jail, because they could have stopped this, but because they thought rock and roll outlaws were just bizarre, they have lana’s blood on their hands.. shame on these women

If there hadn’t been a Phil, there wouldn’t be a Bruce.

Phil Spector was involved with some of the greatest recordings of all time. The- absolute- greatest. That will never change. Did he shoot her? As far as I know, he never shot anyone before- he apparently does like to pretend he’s going to, however. If the finger slipped, I’m sure he was probably more surprised than she was it actually happened..

“phil spector is neither a genius or a madman, you poser, music-aficionado wannabes. he is simply a guy with cracked-out hair who can’t get laid unless he brandishes a weapon. end of story”
I am sorry but I am almost sure needing to brandish a weapon to get laid makes you a madman. Maybe I am wrong.

Phil Spector is one of the greatest producers ever.
He created what we now call the wall of sound.
Just listen to some of the greatest songs ever and you’ll hear that engulfing sonic splendour in such classics as “Unchained Melody”, “Be my Baby”.
Springsteen tried tried to recreate it on “Born to run” as well as Brian Wilson on his Pet Sounds album with the Beach Boys.
Spector was groundbreaking and extremely influential.
He’s also famed for being a lunatic so it won’t be hard to convict him unless he’s got another Johnnie Cochran.
There’s many producers who have done incredible work like Bob Ezrin and Eddie Kramer but few can lay claim to such a landmark creation as Spectors wall of sound.

For the record, Spector gave up on his “wall of sound” after the failure of the Tina Turner recording “River Deep, Mountain High.” His approach on the beatles “Let it Be” as well as The Ramones’ “End of the Century”was largely the use of a syrupy string section with none of the emotive blast of best arrangements, while his work on Lennon’s first solo release showed he could be just as deadly effective with a dry minimalist approach to recording. To quote myself, “Spector’s music put the lie to every truth the lyrics told, just as the small thin voice of his best female singers fought and won the battle against his massed orchestras of battle.”
Hey, think I should write a book about Bob Dylan’s record collection or something stupid like that?

Why couldn’t Phil have produced Guns and Roses? And pulled a gun on them? (or a rose?)

Poor Phil for he does not know what we did. Oh and what about the times he pulled a gun on THE RAMONES or JOHN LENNON during recording sessions…

If Phil is so famous, how come he never produced a record by KISS ??
Mike/Houston,TX. | 5/8/2007, 9:11 pm EST
He “Played God” with Ronnie, Darlene Love, The Crystals, and countless others he manipulated while they were in their teens. He made $$$-MILLIONS-$$$ off them and for mysterious reasons, none of them ever enjoyed success on the radio beyond his grip. Sure - they were some of the greatest records, but, without all those artists, he would’ve been NOTHING, regardless of whatever “talent” he is credited for. Let the LAW “Play God” to the bizarre Spector now.

Spector is great cause of his use of the wall of sound on the Beatles album. But wait, the Beatles hated it and redid the album and called it Let it Be Naked…. So much better than Spector’s cracked out version. I think he shot her, I mean come on… he’s obviously psycho…

Lefty Drizzell | 5/8/2007, 3:48 pm EST
I don’t care if he’s the master of the universe, he’s still a psycoctic asshole who murders, threatens and assaults women. Lock his ass up and throw away the key. Do you know how many people he pulled guns on? Me neither, but I think it was a lot. He even pulled one on Joey Ramone. What a criminal. Fuck him.
Scott | 5/8/2007, 3:48 pm EST
