- Former New York City street-sweeper and Culture Club frontman Boy George was arrested and released on bail after a 28-year-old man accused him of “false imprisonment and common assault.” The singer is being accused of holding against his will a male escort he met on the internet. George supposedly chained the guy to a wall in his flat, then dressed him up in “kinky gear.” Zany!
- This will be cool: Visionary 60s rockers The Zombies are going to reunite for two special 40th anniversary performances of their classic 1968 album Odessey And Oracle. All original members with the exception of guitarist Paul Atkinson, who died in 2004, will be on hand at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire on March 7th and 8th next year.
- Scottish singer/songwriter KT Tunstall looking at a September release of her sophomore album, Drastic Fantastic.
- Meanwhile, this week Lupe Fiasco will begin recording his sophomore album, The Cool, Billboard.com reports. He’s still into the idea of recruiting members of Pink Floyd to help him work on the project, and would like to release it on October 31st.
- R. Kelly has written a song inspired by the Virginia Tech school shootings earlier this month. The song, titled “Rise Up,” will be available digitally May 15, and 100 percent of the net proceeds from its sale will go to charity.
- Check out the video for Kelly Clarkson tune “Never Again.”
- Unless you’re really popular or really nerdy, chances are you haven’t cemented your 4th of July plans yet. So here’s a suggestion: head out to the Gorge Ampitheatre in George, Washington for Willie Nelson’s annual concert/picnic bonanza. Normally the shindig, which has been alive and kickin’ for thirty-three years, takes place in Willie’s home state of Texas. But this time, he’s going west and bringing an assortment of alt-country acts — including Old 97’s, Son Volt and Drive-By Truckers — to appeal to a wider audience. Oh, and there’ll be fireworks.
