If you saw last night’s democratic presidential candidate debates, you, (like us and Brian Williams) may be a little concerned about the general wellness of former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel. The guy is pretty wound up. He made Howard Dean look like the essence of cool. What album would you play for Mr. Gravel to mellow him out and restore his faith in his colleagues, his party and the future of mankind?

First off, Howard Dean is the essence of cool! Second, I like my candidates “pretty wound up”. There’s no passion in mellow. So I would play “The Land of Rape and Honey” by Ministry. That should get ‘em going.

Stevie Wonder-”Innervisions”,”Songs In The Key Of Life”
Mary J. Blige-”Share My World”
The Coup-”Pick A Bigger Weapon”
Rage Against The Machine-”Battle Of Los Angeles”
Three of the most prolific, groundbreaking soundtracks for next year’s election.I would recommend the same for Sen. Obama as well.

Dylan’s Nashville Skyline, of course. Happiest and most laid back album ever. (Ironic that it’s Dylan!)

A Decade of Steely Dan. But he’ll still be a politician and American and from Alaska. Pretty hard to make that look cool.

Political aspirations aside, how about Linda Rondstadt’s “Winter Light”? I listened to it to calm my nerves when stationed in Somalia.
