Spinal Tap Reunite! Beyonce Lawsuit Gets Serious, And More

Spinal Tap to reunite to play Live Earth

  • Well this is awesome: Spinal Tap will reunite for a performance at the Wembley Stadium installation of the Live Earth concerts on July 7th. All the band’s original members will be there including guitarist Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest), singer David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) and bassist Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer). Nice.
  • Remember how Des’ree is suing Beyonce for allegedly not obtaining the proper rights to record the version of Des’ree’s song “Kissing You” that appears on the special edition of B’s album? Well the suit is getting serious, as Beyonce’s label has agreed to temporarily halt distribution of the offending version of their star’s album. Des’ree is apparently seeking $150,000 in damages.
  • Johnny Marr has pitched in and co-written a song called “Even A Child” for Crowded House, which will appear on Time On Earth, the band’s first new album in fourteen years.
  • Jack always claimed he could attend to both the White Stripes and the Raconteurs, and now the guitarist and rock visionary is proving it. While the world awaits the June 19th release of the new White Stripes album Icky Thump, the Raconteurs are in a Nashville studio working on their follow-up to last year’s “Broken Boy Soldier.” They already have twelve songs written!
  • Opening statements in the Phil Spector murder trial are set to begin today. You can watch the whole thing on Court TV. Don’t miss this chance to participate in your nation’s legal process.

My favorite part in Spinal Tap is when Nigel is doing his solos; playing a guitar whith a violin and another with his foot

Is there any word on who Tap’s doomed drummer will be for the show?

It would be cool if they got Dave Grohl to drum… he seems to have the sense of humor and skill to work with Spinal Tap.

2007 will go down as the year when people woke up from their stupor induced by the heavily politicized “crisis” called global warming or climate change.

FACTS

1) While there is a warming trend it is very small

2) It is not clear the degree to which humans have contributed

3) It is not clear the degree to which humans can reverse it

4) The IPCC recently revised its own data on warming downward to correctly reflect the data on sea levels

We are not talking about the destruction of the planet. We are talking about something which, in the grander scheme, represents only an inconvenience.

Now, shut up and get back to work.

Not Dave Grohl!!!! After he exploded Krist Novoselic would be the only surviving member of Nirvana.
