As far as I can tell more than 75% of the people who made the list or wrote about it have not ever heard the Dead or Phish or SCI or PANIC and therefore don’t have the right to give any input to the list. I am happy to see Sublime being mentioned a lot. When it comes down to my favorite song to put on when sparking one up is Speak to me/Breathe by Floyd, anyone who has seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas knows why. But other than that anything by the above bands and the Beatles trump everything else. Next time you smoke put on Dark Star from any particular show and it will change your life.

this list is pointless, misguided and sickening. getting high on anything is a waste of time, money, brain power, relationship, and life in general. it’s unfortunate that some people assiciate something as great as music with something as grotesque as drugs and the use/abuse thereof. personally, if i were an artis with a song on this list, i’d be offended. get real, get a life, get a hobby, and stop getting high.

Well I wonder where all u B.Marley and deadheads were when he list was being made? I think that listening to all that reggae is depressing when I just want a lil’ break and a toke. It is very foolish to use marijuana, especially for adolescents. It has well-documented effects on developing minds. The teens that I have known who used it are adults now, and are having trouble coping with depression and anxiety. There are always cofactors, but weed has lost its innocence. The THC content has doubled since the 80’s, leading people to actually require rehabilitaton in order to quit using it. So, while this article, may seem cute, and even nostalgic for some of us, I took it upon myself to point out these facts.

Well RS screwed up, real bad too, but I think this list is irrelevant since everyone has a different taste in music, obviously most of us are quite pissed Sublime, Marley, Dylan and others are not on this list. Since we have the freedom to think for ourselves we can never agree on one list that satisfies everyone. I think the only real way to do this properly is to make a list for each genre.

How are you going to have a list of songs to smoke pot to and not include Bob Marley, The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan or any other type of folk and hippie rock? Why is there no reggae on here? Where’s toots? Also, no root rock? Give me some Credence or Allman Brothers Band. This list is horrible. Got some really good songs on here. Shine On deserves the #1 but you’ve gotta listen to the WHOLE song. No Quarter is a great call to. I would have choosen a different song by Hendrix. first off CB is definately messed up and jrk is,well a jerk. anyways i definately think we need some bob marley and sublime on there. dudes, in addition to no marley, there is no real reggae representation at all. I know this list is about the songs to listen to WHEN stoned but as far as songs about pot go, there are some great ones from the likes of Niyorah (I Grade Records, St. Croix, Virgin Islands) Richie Spice, Pressure (I Grade) the Midnite Band (I Grade Records) and more. Its all underground, and its all about herb smokin too. That’s why dem legalize the herb for me and you.

do the people that make these lists even think about the songs they’ve selected. its just a list of obvious “stoner” music from the ’60s with little bits of hippster shit sprinkled in so people will think Rolling Stone still has some cultural impact.

Yeah…I gotta agree with a lot of people here. Sublime and Bob are musts for the reef list. I can name so many off the top of my head by both artists/groups that are great to toke to (i.e. “garden grove,” “jailhouse,” “one love,” “badfish”). But also, how about a song by the Mars Volta?? A modern day Pink Floyd, or even a darkhorse candidate like 311 (”who’s got the herb?”/”champagne” anybody?)? Even some bone thugs would work.
