
- A panel of twelve people has been selected to serve on the jury in the murder trial of newly blonde and sleek-haired mad genius Phil Spector. The jury, which is comprised of nine men and three women, includes two engineers and a man who is a network TV producer and has covered high-profile criminal cases, among other individuals. Let the games begin.
- Genius punk girl group the Runaways will see their story brought to the big screen via a forthcoming biopic, Neon Angels. The film will be written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, who has directed music videos for David Bowie, the White Stripes and Marilyn Manson. Producers have apparently secured the music rights, so this film could quite possibly rock.
- The Arctic Monkeys have been so kind as to put up their entire album on their MySpace page.
- Listen to the new Bjork song “Innocence.” Then enter a contest to win the right to make a video for it. Lots to do.
- A seven-month-old Swedish baby named Metallica Tomaro is going to be allowed to keep her crazy name. Initially tax officials (who else) objected to the kids name both because it references the band and because it too closely resembles the word “metal.” Weird.
- The Roskilde Festival lineup is out and features appearances by the Beastie Boys, Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem among others. The Family Values tour will begin July 20 in St. Louis.
