New York based Asian- American rapper Jin has recorded a song in response to the nightmare that took place on Virginia Tech’s campus in Blacksburg on Monday. The track, called “Rain Rain Go Away” is a moving and personal elegy to the victims of the shooting, and a contemplation of the state-of-the-world questions this event has inspired. we need more people like that now, what a nice guy.better than all the other rappers today
toao | 4/24/2007, 8:47 pm EST
jin did it all non-profit, he’s helping us all cope with his event, what a good guy
jin is the best | 4/23/2007, 12:38 am EST
you guys are way too critical he did this from his heart so people could relate with music. He isn’t cashing in, he’s made no money from this song and won’t either, it’s all NON-profit, so think again before you speak
ASDF | 4/22/2007, 11:20 pm EST
People dissing Jin on this, stop criticizing; you can’t even spell his name right. Two, if you go to his myspace the song is free to download. So… yeah. I find that inspirational that he’d make a song not about himself, not for himself.

first think about how you feel about the virginia tech massacre; then think about how people in iraq and/or afghanistan feel right now…

If Gin is sincere about this, he would set up a fund for the victims families or scholarship for VT. I am not judging him, maybe he does mean well, but I would not put it past him to cash in either.
Jeff from bellingham | 4/20/2007, 1:51 pm EST
He is trying to cash in on a horriable things. Nothing more than that!! That is not what a true musicians does. The song is not from the heart it is from the bank!

jaco- if you knew anything about rap and not the bullshit you hear on the radio, then you would know rap has already been at this point
mike | 4/20/2007, 12:31 pm EST
I completely agree, jim. These media companies are giving this psycho too much attention, which is exactly what he wanted. If they really wanted to honor the people who died, they wouldn’t give more attention in the media to the person who killed them.

Give Jin a break…it was obviously something he did spontaneously and did from his heart to express how many people felt on Monday.
I wouldn’t expect a fully polished sounding recording a few days after the tragedy did occur. Remember, bands take months if not years to produce a 10-12 song CD! He did this in 4 days…sheesh.
At least he’s doing something while Joe Shmo sits on his butt complaining on this board why everyone doesn’t think exactly like he does and tries to belittle something that may touch people’s lives that have dealt with the tragedy first-hand.

Refreshing,..a rapper rhyming about something other than himself, how great he is, or money and ho’s. Actually caring about something.
I hope this is the future of hip-hop.

God, Listen to yourselves. All of your opinions seem like they are based off of what you think people would respond to, or agree with. Hypocrites. Maybe this guy really truly cares about what happened to those kids like everyone else does. Quit Nay-Saying. Maybe i’m just mad at how crude people are and how they have to critize everything in order to feel more comfortable about their idea of reality. Geez.
Jim | 4/19/2007, 6:29 pm EST
F**king ridiculous that NBC showed footage of the killer!! If NBC was broadcasting a baseball game and someone ran onto the field, they wouldn’t show it because they don’t want to give publicity to someone who would “copycat” to get air time…yet this is ok with them. Idiots.
lloydt1990 | 4/19/2007, 4:01 pm EST
This is a great song… too bad it took a tragedy for him to finally make one
Oooh | 4/19/2007, 3:42 pm EST
I don’t have opinions.
chibs | 4/19/2007, 3:21 pm EST
he isnt trying to cash. its sad how cynical the world has become.
whazzzup | 4/19/2007, 3:19 pm EST
what a dick….. trying to make $$ on the bigest mass murder in american history … but I guess if it wasn’t him some god damn country singer would have done it eventually!
burp | 4/19/2007, 3:11 pm EST
whatever..this guy has been trying to “make it big’ in the rap game since 97. You rememeber he came out said he retired…(who cares) then came back..(once again, who cares) he had some pop bs rap song called “speak chinese”-how cliche. Now he wants to get some free promotion. I am not buying it. Were one of his friends the vicyims?
Nap Town | 4/19/2007, 2:29 pm EST
Way to be the first to cash in.
Goon | 4/19/2007, 2:24 pm EST
I like Jin, but this track is weak and rushed, and the lyrics are nothing but half baked faith touting. wish he’d taken his time to actually reflect and say something profound instead of vague sentiments.
Fimpa | 4/19/2007, 2:11 pm EST
Jin is a great MC. He is underrated. Wish he got the chance to do it one more time, record that record that will make his career take off. Maybe this is it
ryan | 4/19/2007, 2:10 pm EST
i hate rap, i listen to jam, but this was pretty sick and emotion driven
