In an interview supposedly set to air on 60 Minutes this Sunday, rapper Cam’ron told Anderson Cooper that — due to a fundamental mistrust of cops and desire to preserve his street cred — under no circumstances would he ever help the police, even if a mass murderer was his neighbor. “If I knew the serial killer was living next door to me … I wouldn’t call and tell anybody on him — but I’d probably move,” the rapper said. “I’m not going to call and be like, ‘the serial killer’s in 4E.’ ” Cam’ron’s rationale is that helping the police in any way would violate his “code of ethics”…and, he acknowledges freely, snitching might mean he sells fewer records.
We think this theory is batshit insane and inspires all sorts of deep philosophical questions about the sustainability of anarchy and various other socio-political theories/systems. However, we have to say that the dude seems to practice what he preaches. He was shot in both arms while driving his bright blue Lamborghini in the fall of 2005, but still refused to cooperate with the police when they attempted to investigate the crime. “It would definitely hurt my business,” the rapper said when asked why he kept quiet even as a victim. “The way I was raised, I just don’t do that.”
