“Spider-man” To Get The U2 Treatment, Biggie’s Family Sues City Of L.A. Again, Beyonce To Leave Sony?

Bono and the Edge to write lyrics for Spiderman musical

  • Bono and the Edge are apparently heading to Broadway to write the music and lyrics for a new musical based on Spider-man. The piece will be directed by Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor. Awesome.
  • The family of slain rapper the Notorious B.I.G. (aka) Christopher Wallace has filed another wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles. The new law suit involves state-related issues and names two police officers as co-defendants.
  • Eddie Van Halen will take a break from … not reuniting with Van Halen to attend a Nascar event in Phoenix this weekend. The rocker will unveil two guitars from his line, and will act as an “honorary race official” by greeting drivers pre-race.
  • Is Beyonce leaving Sony for Def Jam? The diva has only two albums left on her contract, and is already planning to make Sony pay serious dollars to keep her, or possibly abandon the label for a spot on Jay-Z’s roster at Def Jam. A source told the New York Post: “[Jay-Z] has been trying to get her to Def Jam for awhile. He would love to oversee her career - he kind of does anyway.”

haha… a spiderman musical
and I thought the Yoshimi musical would be over-the-top… oh boy
Will that musical even last as long as that Bob Dylan-Twyla Tharp disaster?

Also, EVH belongs at a NASCAR event… free beer and lots of racing enthusists that probably adore his cock-rock

Bono and Edge owe me a new keyboard. I just puked all over it. Or maybe it’s Marvel. They’ve ruined their company. Spider-Man needs a musical like I need to be hit by a truck.

The last picture I say of Eddie Van Halen he looked like the crypt keeper. And his band is such a joke now that they shouldn’t reunite, ever. They have a teenage bass player and the only people that showed up for their rock and roll hall of fame induction were their fired bass player and the singer most fans never accepted. And while Eddie was an innovative guitar player in 1977, and influenced a decade of bands full of stunt guitar playing, do we really need to see him make another guitar tapping solo.

Until 1996 when the whole DLR reunion nonsense started at the VMAs, Van Halen had a nice legacy to fall back on, in the decade since they have made no memorable music, but they have had many acts of ridiculousness.

It should be pointed out that their is no reason to reunite Van Halen, as the band never broke up, they just can’t find a singer they like.

Please everybody, let Van Halen go away and rest in peace.

I usually don’t grimace when I read the morning news here (after all, it’s only rock n’ roll, and I do like it), but a spiderman musical with U2 doing the music sounds pretty fucking appalling. A spiderman musical sounds like something you take kids to during the summer at a mall. I’m not even a big U2 fan, but it seems like the band really is lowering themselves to do such a thing, even if bono blah blah blahs about how the story is one of redemption and strength… through mutant spider bites..

Another Biggie lawsuit? I guess his greatest hits album didn’t sell as well as they hoped.

Eddie Van Halen as the ‘honorary race official’? What the hell does that mean? Is he going to wave the flag? Present the victor with the trophy? ‘Eddie, no! Put down that champagne! it’s for the winning driver!’

Jay-Z and Beyone are the new Johnny and June Cash. Word up.
