McCartney’s Producer Says Leaked Tracklist Is Fake, Macy Gray Forced To Work With Justin, And More

4/16/07, 9:03 am EST

Paul McCartney

  • Remember last week when the tracklist for Paul McCartney’s new record, Memory Almost Full, supposedly leaked online? Well according to the former Beatle’s producer, David Khane, the leaked list is totally fake. “This is a fake tracklisting. It has nothing to do with the album, pretty funny, though,” Khane said.
  • Macy Gray, while describing the making of her new album Big, said that she was “forced” to work with other people like Justin Timberlake because her main producer, will.i.am, got super busy. “Will and I were doing my album, then he got really, really busy with the Black Eyed Peas touring. Then he got really in demand as a producer and had a lot of opportunities he didn’t want to turn down. So I was kind of forced to work with other people because he was so busy,” the singer said. “That is how I ended up going to the studio with Justin; it wasn’t in the original plan but it worked out great.”
  • Lily Allen is apparently on her way to canceling her entire upcoming US tour. The British pop tart, who was supposed to tour the States in May and June, with noteworthy stops scheduled at Bonnaroo and Coachella, has already started canceling dates due to a “scheduling conflict,” the “I’m washing my hair” excuse for troubled rockers.
  • Singer/entertainer Don Ho, most famous for wearing pink-lensed sunglasses and performing his tune “Tiny Bubbles,” has died of heart failure at 76.
  • Cat Power is hitting the road for a string of summer tour dates in Europe and the US. Yay.
  • Check out the new Kelly Clarkson song “Never Again.” It’s up (where else) on her MySpace page.

That’s why you can’t always trust Internet rumors.

Mr Biggles | 4/16/2007, 9:53 am EST

thanks kyle, we’re lost without you.

Fake tracklistings on the internet? Say it ain’t so, computer! Well, I’m sure glad this is all cleared up. Otherwise Sir Paul’s new album would have certainly sucked. But now that we don’t know the names of the songs again, I’m sure it will be a masterpiece…

Okay, I’m still trying to learn rock n’ roll doublespeak. ‘exhaustion’ means drugs, and now ’sceduling conflict’ means washing hair/some bullshit reason, maybe personal issues. I can’t wait ’til we find out what, ‘creative differences’ means the next time a band breaks up.

Don Ho actuallly died of anonyimity. Three years ago.

A Kelly Clarkson myspace link? Please… Never Again… (ha!)

Who’s producing Kelly these days, not that it’s bad, but is she a Pat Benetar clone or what?

Grand | 4/16/2007, 11:32 am EST

Attention Losers, Here are the top 3 overrated, crappy, talentless, music artists of all time… #3.David Bowie, #2. Grateful Dead, And #1….Bob Dylan !! Thank You.

bob dylan bless you | 4/16/2007, 12:58 pm EST

He may be overrated if compared to the likes of other music gods but not to the likes of most musicians labels spew out every 6 months.

Stuporfly | 4/16/2007, 1:17 pm EST

My helpful post about David Kahne’s name being misspelled above was removed, yet the incorrectly spelled name remains.

And I thought the NME’s website was a nightmare to read!

mullet man | 4/16/2007, 1:20 pm EST

the fake album is a publicity stunt. no one really cares about a new mcartney album, do they? can you name his last 5? why does he insist on playing beatles songs more than solo? he has a bigger solo discography, and surely he’ll tell you his latest is his best work! And Bylan own’s Marty P’s nuts!

Behrkings98 | 4/16/2007, 1:29 pm EST

Khane is spelled correctly in the article.

Go away Macy Gray! | 4/16/2007, 2:37 pm EST

Macy Gray is awful. At least we aren’t forced to listen to her like she was forced to work with other folks.

Stuporfly | 4/16/2007, 3:09 pm EST

Yes, Behrkings98. Khane is spelled correctly in the article, especially if you’re trying to spell ‘Khane.’ Unfortunately, if you’re referring to Paul McCartney’s producer ‘Khane’ is not how he spells his last name. It’s ‘Kahne.’

Macca The K | 4/16/2007, 6:56 pm EST

Macca’s last 5? Chaos And Creation In The Backyard…Driving Rain…Run Devil Run…Flaming Pie…Off The Ground. I love each and every one, and believe me, I wish he had the courage to only play solo material at his shows – I’d be one happy music lover.

Kevin | 4/16/2007, 6:58 pm EST

Mike S.
David Kahne also produced Clarkson’s album. Yes, that’s how Kahne is spelled. I think her new song is great.

KYLE P. SILVERS | 4/16/2007, 8:05 pm EST

Memory Almost Full is supposedly going to contain the song “Now and Then” which was a John Lennon demo left out of the anthology sessions in the mid 90’s. It also is going to contain un used songs from Driving Rain (01) and Chaos (05) and some new ones. It should be good. GOD BLESS VIRGINA TECH.

Macca The K | 4/17/2007, 6:40 am EST

As Paul’s producer confirmed last week, Memory Almost Full contains new songs, not left-overs from Driving Rain and Chaos, which he stressed. As for Lennon’s Now And Then, that was never in contention (simply an internet rumour that Paul & Ringo were going to finish it up).

Jason | 4/17/2007, 12:02 pm EST

Critics loved McCartney’s last 3 albums, 2 of which where nominated for album of the year. He’s the most successful pop song writer of all time. For all those who says who cares? Plenty do. 4 of the last 5 albums he’s released have gone top 10.

MULLET MAN I CARE AND YOU DO TO IF YOU DIDNT YOU WOULDNT BOTHER TO WRITE SO PISS OFF

Donny M | 4/18/2007, 12:52 pm EST

Its always great to look forward to a new Paul McCartney CD. Also, anyone who refers to themself as Boo Boo must be an asshole.

mysterious 'M' | 5/27/2007, 10:57 pm EST

…I was lead singer in David Kahne’s first band, Doctor Death’s Blue Eyed Boys. We were junk-yard-dogs but knew he would go places. After purchasing Sgt.Pepper at Sacramento’s Tower Records we listened to it for weeks non-stop on his parents Hi-Fi. He became agitated when I couldn’t learn the nuiances of the songs and kicked me out of the band after our one and only gig at the “Star of David” club in Roseville ,California–calling me tone deaf in front of the whole audience–all four of them.
I still carry the scars and fond memories and lyrics to our first song…”You Look Like My Balls.’
