Manson Declares Twinship With Wood, Jam Master Jay Murder Clues and More

4/16/07, 2:40 pm EST

Marilyn Manson

  • Marilyn Manson has spoken out about the reason behind his breakup with soon-to-be ex-wife Dita Von Teese. “I was married to someone who wanted me to change,” Manson said. “Become more adult, more responsible. I began not to like myself, not like what I do. I lost my identity. Everything began collapsing around me. The record allowed me to put an end to that. Dita left at Christmas while I was recording.” Manson went on to defend his relationship with new girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood, who is literally half the rocker’s age (he’s 38, she’s 19), calling her his “twin.” “She’s 19 and certainly that’s very young,” he said, “but that’s not a problem for me. She likes the same things as me. She understands I like to get up when night falls and go to sleep at dawn.” Congratulations to the happy couple!
  • Whoa! A 43-year old man called Ronald Tinard Washington has confessed to playing a role in both the 1995 shooting of Tupac Shakur associate Randy “Stretch” Walker AND the 2002 shooting of Jam Master Jay in Hollis, Queens. Washington reportedly confessed to the crimes during his trial for unrelated armed robbery crimes. Crazy.
  • Sigh. All Stephen Malkmus-related news makes us happy. But talk of a new, soon-to-be-completed album makes us ecstatic. “Basic trax for album committed to tape/Album Tracked in Northern Montana– 67.4685% completed,” reads a post on www.stephenmalkmus.com. The post goes on to say that the album will be done sometime in late June, and that “the songs are so BIG that Matador is pushing for an early 2008 release.” Nice.
  • Stereogum is linking to a version of the title track from forthcoming Queens of the Stoneage album Era Vulgaris, a song that isn’t even on the album. Weird right? Maybe it’s Trent Reznor’s conspiracy theory-loving influence, as he makes a guest appearance on the track.
  • Miguel Bose, the so-called Spanish David Bowie, has recruited 15 other Latin artists plus R.E.M. vocalist Michael Stipe for a 30-year career-celebrating duets album.
  • Here comes “Goodstock”. Artie Kornfeld — one of the creators of Woodstock — is putting on a new event this summer inspired by the feel of the original festival. Goodstock will take place in Summersville, W.Va., July 19-21. “It’s a renaissance faire about the Summer of Love,” Kornfeld said. “It’s to create the feeling of hope that we had that weekend.”

Oh cool, Goodstock. Hopefully they will find real good peaceful bands this time around, not like 1999.

Marilyn Manson is pathetic if he can only relate to a girl half is age. How long before she dyes her hair black like Rose and Dita?

Remember when Manson made the news for his music?

Marilyn McManson… a nice little happy meal for Evan Rachel Wood. I hope Mr. Warner teaches his daugher a love lesson. The Spooky Kids are sick of your crap Bryan!… Get a real job, with them! They helped you on the “showcase show in NYC” where you hit on Dogg Flea from the Spicy Meatballs!… Rachel suits you well! But she will try to teach you the ways of the force and help you find inner peace. Maby even get you to seek Nirvana… -TPTH

I hope that Kornfeld’s “Goodstock” doesn’t become some low budget Woodsrtock reunion show. They speak about giving the kids exposure, which is a good thing. Just don’t turn it into one of those antiseptic shows that you can take mom to. Let it be a Real rcok concert w/out parental idiocy, and let the kids run wild.

hey, if you work hard, kids, you too can sell 15,000 records and be damn proud you didn’t sell out on account of your indie ethics.

manson is soooo predictable. he ditches his wife for a 19 year old…. ooooooh. more press for him. he’s a whore.

PAVEMENT SUX! | 4/16/2007, 5:07 pm EST

music for indie queers!

Marilyn Manson’s lost his edge. If he was really hardcore, he’d go under nineteen.
And how surprising is it that he hated marriage? I can see Dita complaining: ‘Come on, Brian, we have to go to the neighbors bar-b-que! And when are you going to call the plumber to fix the bathroom sink?’

Ronald Washington just wants attention if he’s taking the rap (no pun intended) for both tupac and jay’s murders. Maybe he has demo tape he wants to enter as evindence. Betcha any money he has a myspace page.

thank god for stephen malkmus. if only because of the live version of ‘conduit for sale’ on the expanded special edition of slanted and enchanted.

and thank god for josh homme. his two bands (kyuss & QOTSA) made the last fifteen years of heavy rock worth listening to (god, i feel so damn old typing that).

Goodstock? Clear Channel must own the rights to the name ‘Woodstock’.
