- Madonna may or may not be forcing the world to endure another one of her adoption scandals. Page Six is reporting that the increasingly child-obsessed material mom is heading back to Malawi to oversea the construction of some children’s health-care facility. But you know there will be an orphanage nearby and she’ll have to stop by, just to look, and before you know it she’ll be toting another kid home to England.
- Ryan Adam’s forthcoming gig at Stonehenge has been called off after unprecedented demand for tickets led officials to fear for the safety of the audience. Sad.
- Art Garfunkel is a Borat fan, apparently. The rocker said: “From an American perspective it was a breath of fresh air in a fearful age. All the uptight posturing was blown away by a good fart. I think Sacha Baron Cohen is a fearless kamikaze.” Florid language + an appreciation for scatological humor = impressive.
- Hurrah for reissues! David Bowie’s genius Philly soul-inspired opus Young Americans, is getting the special edition treatment, which means that the reissue (out June 5th) will include things like bonus tracks and a DVD. Meanwhile, Sonic Youth will be reissuing Daydream Nation (a moment of silence, please, for the mere mention of this album) on June 12th. The new version features an entire disc composed entirely of live versions of the songs on the album plus four covers: the Beatles’ “Within You Without You,” Neil Young’s “Computer Age,” Captain Beefheart’s “Electricity,” and Mudhoney’s “Touch Me, I’m Sick.” Awesomeness all around.
