The official Lollapalooza site says the lineup won’t hit the wires until tomorrow…but an ad for the festival published in a local Wisconsin paper found its way to our desks. Technically the weekly doesn’t come out until tomorrow but it’s available in some places early, as in on Wednesdays, as in TODAY. So, as you can see, the bold names appearing at the resurged Lollapalooza festival on August 3-5th include Pearl Jam, My Morning Jacket, Snow Patrol, the Stooges, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, TV on The Radio, LCD Soundsystem, Interpol, Patti Smith, Regina Spektor, Lupe Fiasco, Amy Winehouse, the Hold Steady, and many more. Let the feasting on organic vegan burritos while rocking out begin.

This is in Chicago right? It would have been cool if the Smashing Pumpkins played in their hometown
Josh | 4/11/2007, 6:52 pm EST
Because of Pearl Jam, The Stooges, and TV on the Radio, Lolla has made me an offer I can’t refuse.

You had me at PEARL JAM! But TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, AND Holdsteady? This sounds like the concert of my wet dreams.
It’s too bad I never go to festivals or anything.

I wish i could see the full line up.
Six7Six7 | 4/11/2007, 8:16 pm EST
thank god the RHCP or Kanye West won’t be there again. what a horrible lineup last year.
2 Festivals, 1 Weekend | 4/11/2007, 8:20 pm EST
Why is Lolapalooza scheduled for the same weekend as the Virgin Festival?
boss | 4/11/2007, 8:28 pm EST
Yeah, I’m sure the pumpkins will sign on pretty soon. They’ve been announcing gigs left and right. Thankfully, I’m currently living in Paris where they will be playing their first show back. I was able to get myself a ticket, so badass. I should be back home in Chicago for this lolla too
2 Festivals, 1 Weekend | 4/11/2007, 8:31 pm EST
Maybe … except the Pumpkins are already scheduled to play the Virgin Festival in Baltimore that weekend.

lik roper | 4/11/2007, 9:55 pm EST
people keep telling me i look like iggy pop…
Pearl Jam = Snooze Fest | 4/11/2007, 10:22 pm EST
It’s 2007, not 1993 … why can’t Pearl Jam buy tickets to Lollapalooza like the rest of us have to?
Aaron | 4/11/2007, 11:02 pm EST
There are some bands that I like and some that I don’t care about. I’ve already got Bonnaroo covered. The only real draws for me are Iggy and Modest Mouse but I’d rather see The White Stripes, The Police, and Tool.
Niceface | 4/11/2007, 11:44 pm EST
Actually with all the bands with new releases this year and tours how come they couldnt Stack it this year. I would only be going to see Pearl Jam, but why couldnt they get NIN, Queens, Cornell, Rage?
Instead they fill it with hipster crap bands that will not be around in 5 years and you will have forgotten about their catchy names like !!!
Night Boy | 4/11/2007, 11:57 pm EST
Why doesn’t Lollapalooza try and stay relevant and have bands like My Chemical Romance and Panic! At The Disco headline instead all this dinosaur rock. Just because a band was popular ten years ago doesn’t mean they are any good.
Anonymous | 4/12/2007, 12:04 am EST
Pearl Jam !!!
surley | 4/12/2007, 12:05 am EST
these dinosaur bands only seem ancient because you’re only 12.don’t feel sad maybe your dad will take you to the big city to see the marching band. now that’s relevant
alice in hanes | 4/12/2007, 12:07 am EST
Pearl Jam will own lollapalooza!
still gyll | 4/12/2007, 12:09 am EST
the city of chicago probably didn’t want the liability or the mess involved in all the emo kids cutting themselves in Grant park
surley | 4/12/2007, 12:26 am EST
to lik roper;i can see the resembelence
Stuporfly | 4/12/2007, 12:38 am EST
“Why doesn’t Lollapalooza try and stay relevant and have bands like My Chemical Romance and Panic! At The Disco headline…”
This is the most hilariously irrelevant use of the word ‘relevant’ I think I’ve ever seen.
Detroit Rock City | 4/12/2007, 12:38 am EST
I like what I hear so far.Pearl Jam, The Stooges, Modest Mouse!
This is to the emo kiddie.
Those bands both suck and are a plague on rock n roll.Their music is whiny and just because mtv makes you think their good doesnt mean they are.Emo is the worst genre of rock ever unless your a 14 yr old girl.Pearl Jam and the Stooges are bands that actually have made rock n roll better, so pretty much what im trying to say is your a idiot with a bad taste in music.
Detroit Rock City | 4/12/2007, 12:40 am EST
I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself! It would save me a couple of hours of yard work a week
Jim | 4/12/2007, 12:47 am EST
everyone who is saying pearl jam is boring and shouldn’t be in the lineup has obviously not seen them live recently.
Gross | 4/12/2007, 12:53 am EST
this lineup is sad….what a downgrade from last year. GIVE ME THE LIPS, GIVE ME WILCO, GIVE ME UMPHREYS, GIVE ME THE BISCUITS, GIVE ME THE SHINS…screw this I’m going to ‘Roo
Gross | 4/12/2007, 12:55 am EST
this lineup is weak…give me the lips and wilco…and umph and disco biscuits…not these shmucks (discluding PJ)
See you at ‘Roo

Re: Tool at bonaroo. Saw them last year. They’re boring live now.
Sorry… but the time to see Tool was Lateralus tour..
wetchabs | 4/12/2007, 2:32 am EST
This lineup is weak for a festival, I will take the White Stripes, Gov’t Mule, Tool, The Flaming Lips, Wilco, Ben Harper, Galactic, North Mississipii All Stars…..and oh ya The Police.
See you at ‘Roo
Night Boy | 4/12/2007, 2:40 am EST
Hey Surley, for someone trying to rip my taste in music you sure seem to know the song well. You can have Bonaroo, its even older dinosaur rock. Just wait in a few years MCR and P!ATD will be recognized as the innovators they are and make all the Pearl Jams of the world obsolete.
Night Boy | 4/12/2007, 2:43 am EST
Emo kids may cut ourselves, but at least we don’t swallow shotguns like grunge rockers

at least I get to make my own t-shirts whenever I want.

bmac | 4/12/2007, 10:09 am EST
Pearl Jam might be old…but still one of the best live shows you’ll ever see…no fire…no pyrotechnics…no huge stages…just them and the music, the way it should be!
muzacklover | 4/12/2007, 10:40 am EST
solid lineup. dont understand who cares about Ben Harper anymore, but very happy with this lineup. It is pretty stacked all the way down the line. Alot of good rock. and PJ is old, but they still bring it, and are a great band to close it out.
Let’s just hope for good scheduling so the good bands dont overlap. always tricky.
F the lips | 4/12/2007, 11:08 am EST
THe Flaming Lips will be allowed to play the festival again when they write a 3rd good song.
rick james | 4/12/2007, 11:19 am EST
everyone seems to be ignoring MUSE!
muse just sold out two straight nights at 75,000 person wembley stadium in england. they’re probably the biggest band in europe right now and are supposed to be legendary live…this might cause me to road trip there.
also: interpol, pearl jam (can still bring it), clap your hands, ted leo, silverun pickups, the (fucking) rapture!, daft punk!…this lineup is fantastic.
Johnny16 | 4/12/2007, 12:02 pm EST
Why do people want panic playing? They played last year, and sounded horrible. and they had the nerve to cover tonight, tonight in chicago, and destroyed the song! They proved that they are a studio band. Panic is into creating a spectacle with as many stage people as possible, with total disregard for how they sound or their music. While pearl jam isn’t one of favorite bands, any real music fan knows that pearl jam will totally blow panic off the stage any day of the week with their eyes closed
Fuck the roo | 4/12/2007, 12:21 pm EST
A lot of the bands you guys are excited about at Bonnaroo have something in common: they played Lolla last year (Flaming Lips, Wilco, Umphrey’s, the Shins). And talk about a snooze fest… the Police? You better be trippin pretty hard to enjoy that lame ass shit you fuckin hippies.
Marc | 4/12/2007, 12:23 pm EST
I guess the lineup will never be good enough for anybody. Go or just dont go, simple enough?
allman | 4/12/2007, 12:41 pm EST
how about festival dates and venues? Any chance of it coming to toronto
lp | 4/12/2007, 12:46 pm EST
panic used to be a good live band. why they started adding all the bullshit is a mystery to me. the first few times i saw them they were solid. then the distractions came and the music suffered.
Rodney King | 4/12/2007, 12:57 pm EST
It’s actually really easy to sort this whole thing out;
If you don’t like the bands…don’t go to the show.
If you think Pearl Jam, the Stooges and Patti Smith are dinosuars, so be it.
You may also think that the Beatles were just the band Paul Mcartney was in before Wings.
If you are in the MCR and Panic camp…that’s kewl too..
…but don’t rip what you don’t know…and that goes both ways.
It’s easy to dismiss bands that wear eyeliner and are sad, just as it’s easy to dismiss a band because they are all over 30.
Whatever…just rock out to whatever gets you off and leave the ridiculous comments to Don Imus and Michael Savage.
Later
- Rodney
Ben Farquhar | 4/12/2007, 1:17 pm EST
I am 21, live in the dorms, and my mom won’t let me have my driver’s license (true story)…so I can’t go to this show anyway, even though I live in Elgin and it is only like an 1 and a half away. I want to go, b/c all the cool kids are going, but I don’t think my Mom will take me there and drop me off (or pay for my ticket for that matter, what a bitch she is).
F Ben F | 4/12/2007, 1:18 pm EST
You sound like a retard.
Fun Wow USA! | 4/12/2007, 1:30 pm EST
I feel like Perry & crew kind of dropped the ball this year. First, I get the email from thier mailing list that the secret $60 ticket sale, which by the way was a $40 dollar ticket sale last year was on. So I log on and get stuck in thier que for about 5 hours, never getting in. Then the tickets go on sale at “early bird” prices for $160 a pop. Didn’t they start out at like $80 and grudually increased last year before the lineup was announced? Now it’s $195? I like Pearl Jam and a handful of the other bands but that price is steep for a pretty weak lineup. I was expecting maybe some NIN, White Stripes or Beastie Boys. And as for the whole “about a buck a band” thing… yeah if you could be at 4 or 5 stages at once and were into more than only a quarter of the band in the line up. Who’s with me?
mike | 4/12/2007, 1:57 pm EST
two words: DAFT PUNK!!!!!

everything about this line up is amazing except for one thing… 195 DOLLARS? WTF… not even Glasto or Summerfest cost that much (though summerfest sucks this year)!
