Artist To Watch: We Are The Fury

4/11/07, 2:08 pm EST

THE FORMULA: T. Rex + Fall Out Boy – Moping
There are plenty of “garage” bands on the scene, but few take the label as literally as the young men of Toledo, Ohio pop-punk out fit We Are The Fury. “We still live at home — we make the rounds practicing in our parents’ garages,” confesses lead singer Jeremy Lublin, 24. Camping out at their ancestral homes has it perks, especially when the boys come home from being on tour for months at a time. “I still love coming home to my mom’s cooking,” says guitarist Chris Hatfield, 24. “But even though we’re not in high school anymore, I still feel like I need to sneak inside at night when I’ve been out drinking.” (more . . .)

Crap like this is a sure sign of somebody’s apocalypse….

Maybe instead if WAFT they can just shorten it to WFT??…. cuz after hearing the track that is about all I can say… Please .. all you “glam” kid bands .. please go buy some Sweet records… and dump the ties… enough already.

Dear theworldsforgottenboy,

FYI: Your comment does not make sense. WAFT? No honey, WATF. There is nothing wrong with your opinion, but it loses value after one notice’s the lack of correct spelling/grammar, and the absence of facts/explanation. I do wonder what it is you consider “sweet”. Theworldsforgottenboy has proven to make a good name for you.

Rolling Stone,

Thank you for the recognition of such a talented group. I can always count on a true opinion from you.

I think this band is great! in response to “theworldsforgottenboy” the abbreviation for the band is WATF for We Are The Fury not WAFT and I’m not sure what WFT means either. Ties or no the music is good – fashion should never be a deciding factor in whether or not you like the way something sounds! :)

How can you critiscize them for being a “glam” band (presumably implying you think they’re too pre-occupied with fashion over music) and then add their fashion as another weak point? That’s just straight up hypocritical.

And as for telling them t

I love this band lots. I met Jeremy last month when I went to their concert.

LustforLife | 4/12/2007, 8:22 pm EST

I actually agree with worldsforgottenboy. I think Glam is thrown around way too much and is used to describe bands that have no buisness using it. Glam is Slade, Trex, Sweet and BCR. Im not talkin shit on the band, but Glam they ain’t. p.s. Sweet is a band Leck.

leila | 4/12/2007, 10:57 pm EST

I have seen these guys 3 times in concert, they ALWAYS put on a great show, they sound awsome live, and they all are very cool to talk to.

I can’t wait for their album to come out May 22 !!!
Ive been listening to the sound clips on amazon.com for a while now.

Btw, Thankyou Leck for pointing out the forgotten boys idiocy.

Dear Forgotten boy,
are YOU writing sweet music and dropping great albums?

Freeaxl | 4/15/2007, 10:48 pm EST

Wow. This article is outrageous! The audacity to compare these cookie cutter emo jerks to the likes of T.Rex is simply ludacris. Marc Bolan & T Rex had more talent and depth post mordem then these guys will ever have in their hack of a career. A career that I predict to end shortly after I finish typing this comment.

OMG! WE Are The Fury is amazing! The lead singer Jeremy is ABSOLUTLY GORGEOUS and their music is so original. I can’t wait to get their new cd. Venus.

quacklikeafish | 11/13/2007, 6:01 pm EST

We Are The Fury! I have thier cd Venus and it’s now the only thing i listen to. don’t diss bands because of their fashion. i just don’t understand it. i agree with Jessica. Fashion has nothing to do with what a band sounds like. if they came onto the stage wearing bright pink spandex with purple pokadots. it just wouldn’t affect jeremy’s voice. if you are going to comment on a band, keep it to the sound please. ty!
