Pete Best Wants To Reminisce With Paul McCartney, Keith Richards Warns Pete About Kate, Fall Out Boy’s Various Issues

4/9/07, 9:04 am EST

Pete Best Paul McCartney

  • After forty years spent thinking about what might have been, ejected former Beatle Pete Best has said he’s finally ready to make peace with Paul. “We’re not getting any younger,” he said. “We know what we’ve done and we’re not going to think any worse of each other if we had a chat now. God bless us all: it was all 40-odd years ago.”
  • In a recent interview with the NME, Keith Richards apparently described Kate Moss as someone he knows “very well” and went on to say that Doherty should leave her alone before implying that Kate is dangerous force in the lives of the rocker boys she dates. “He (Doherty) should shut the fuck up and leave her alone,” Richards said. “I don’t know the man. All I know is he’s pushing his luck and there it is. But so is Kate … Kate wants to play with the bad boys and she’s done one, then another, then another. She’ll live, the boys will die.”
  • Last week Fall Out Boy were postponing the start of their tour because of “personal issues.” This week the band has posted another vagary-filled statement saying that it’s all about health. “it [sic] is in the best interest of the health of the band and its members to take just a couple weeks to catch up,” the statement reads. Fall Out Boy sure know how to talk a lot while saying nothing.
  • Eminem may write arguably misogynist, homophobic, hatred-filled rhymes, but the rapper proved he’s something of a traditional gentleman after he rear-ended a woman while driving his Mercedes in Fraser, Michigan. Eminem reportedly got out of his car, joked and laughed with the woman while exchanging insurance information, and gave her a hug before getting back in his car and driving off.
  • Watch an amusing if disturbingly not-that-shitty performance of Dolly’s “9 to 5″ by Fergie on the Charlotte Church show

I would like to go on record and say that if Paul is willing to forget me being angry about that really bad “Driving Rain” album, I’d be willing to get together and reminisce with him for a few hours as well.

Mike | 4/9/2007, 10:17 am EST

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Hopefully whatever that oh-so-mysterious problem is the member or members of Fall Out Boy are facing… hopefully it leads to suicide.

ryan | 4/9/2007, 11:05 am EST

yea i agree deadhorse

bilo | 4/9/2007, 11:18 am EST

i agree with mike

DrJ | 4/9/2007, 11:21 am EST

If I recall correctly, every single time someone floated the idea of the Beatles getting back together, Pete Best said something to the effect of “yeah, it’s time to bury the hatchet,” sadly neglecting the fact that he wouldn’t be invited anyway. The poor guy needs to give it a rest…

The Dude | 4/9/2007, 11:22 am EST

I agree with Mike.

boo boo | 4/9/2007, 11:41 am EST

Nobody wanted to be in that guy shoes im sure!

abandonedstation | 4/9/2007, 11:43 am EST

pete best needs money. just pay his rent and medical bills quietly, paul. don’t make ringo jealous.

seems like keith sees a bit of the invincible-muse-anita-pallenbe rg-spirit in kate moss. which i guess makes pete doherty a second brian jones. better keep out of the water, pete…

re: fallout boy – i also agree with mike

hold on! is that three stories all dealing with a pete?! (best, doherty, wentz)

if there was a trickster god, eminem would have rear ended the Insane Clown Posse. Or his ex-wife. Or his mom.
Douche chill!

Paul knows where to find Pete Best, at the local Beatlefest with Barry from Barry and the Remains and George Harrison’s Sister.

Pete Best is a footnote in the Beatles story, he was important at the time, but i think this story has been told by now to anyone who would listen.

I’d rather hear McCarntey and Keith talk about the early years, truth be told.

……….and can we have even one day free of Fergie?

I may be a “bad boy” but Kate doesn’t seem to mind. Thats Kate Moss-Jones. My 250 lb. girlfriend…

the truth | 4/9/2007, 5:19 pm EST

all of this “news” is completely worthless.

brain | 4/9/2007, 5:32 pm EST

“Fall Out Boy sure know how to talk a lot while saying nothing.”

Isnt that what emo music is all about?

mk | 4/9/2007, 5:37 pm EST

the whole pete best sob story completely ignores the fact that he was replaced b/c he wasn’t anywhere near the drummer that ringo starr was/is. ringo friggin’ revolutionized rock and roll drumming, contributing significantly to the beatles success. this is why ringo was recruited to replace best. it’s like me being angry that derek jeter was called in to replace me at shortstop. hell, it’s like me being angry that ringo starr was called in to replace me at shortstop.
ps–to deadhorse… nice one, that was funny.

Jim | 4/9/2007, 7:45 pm EST

Keith’s comments last week:
Kate, leave Pete Doherty alone.
I snorted my dad.
I didn’t snort my dad.
He had some things to get off his chest…

Chris Price | 4/9/2007, 10:01 pm EST

one time while flying to LA, i met the drummer who almost played on the song ‘wipeout’…

Starclub4 | 7/10/2007, 11:14 am EST

Pete and his band bring you a snapshot of how things were in the early days. Without the Beatles going thru that experience in 60, 61, and 62 you would wonder where they would end up. Pete’s a gentleman and only talks about those things because people keep asking him. Let his live shows speak for themselves, they are a lot of fun played by a great person who was once a Beatle, and played in over 1000 shows as a Beatle. Those “atomic beat” drums of the early day were an important part of the Beatles equation for success. Thanks

I gave some junior high students this Math Word problem:
I just did a 7 hour drive and on my drive I listened to only Beatles music, and I never heard the same song twice. If each song is @ 3 minutes long, how many songs did I hear ?!
Hey. The Beatles are the
Alpha & the Omega of Rock-n-Roll.
Peace
Johnnie

Johnnie DesRochers | 3/9/2008, 11:41 pm EST

The reason the Beatles fired Pete Best was that they were afraid EMI wanted to feature him as the star of the band because he was the most popular member with fans. George Martin was a producer of comedy records who was paranoid of any non sessions drummer. He originally wouldn’t let Ring play either. The argument that Pete wasn’t a very good drummer boarders on the ridiculous. At least 723 gigs in two years, minus four he missed, and over 3000 hours on stage, and the most popular band in England’s and Hamburg’s clubs, and people expect us to believe they did it with a drummer who couldn’t keep time. Either someone thinks we’re stupid or the Beatles and their fans were stupid. Pick the former of the two. Buy Pete’s mid 1960s solo Pete Best Combo LP. One listen and you will realise you’ve been had. The album is nothing less than great and if he hadn’t have the stigma of being the fired Beatles it would have been a big seller. Also, if you can find them, listen to their BBC performance with Best and you’ll come to the conclusion that it’s not possible to keep a steadier beat.

Johnnie DesRochers | 5/16/2008, 2:49 pm EST

I will be presenting what The music of The Beatles does to me to a large group of Catholic Church musiciansin Canada.
Paul, himself would cry tears of joy if he heard about it !
It’s be nice to be able to share.
Peace
Johnnie
