“Grindhouse” Vixens Get Dirty for RS Cover

4/3/07, 1:14 pm EST

Rose McGowan and Rosario Dawson show off their naked passion for the Tarantino-Rodriguez double feature Grindhouse on the cover of our new issue, hitting stands this Friday. Come back tomorrow to see the steamy cover image (shot at the L.A. studio 5th and Sunset on March 21st), along with excerpts from our feature. In the meantime, check out our exclusive behind-the-cover video footage in which Rose reveals what it was like on the set of the film, and who she has to thank for her possible brain damage.

i personally do not find dismemberment the least bit sexy…

I am lost — why does this woman have a leg for a gun? What possible explanation could she have? She had two perfectly functional arms.

Sanchez | 4/3/2007, 2:02 pm EST

juicy

me | 4/3/2007, 2:23 pm EST

C’mon you’re killing me and the rest of the mcr fans out there… Grindhouse is cool and all, but some of us really wanna see mcr on the cove!!!!!!!!

KLN | 4/3/2007, 3:07 pm EST

Decent cover idea, but please no MCR there has been enough emo covers this year already. How bout the Kings of Leon or Wilco further down the line.

Jame | 4/3/2007, 3:10 pm EST

I’m sorry but Grindhouse just looks horrible. I really can’t see it being a really good movie from what I’ve seen and I’m not at all excited about it coming out.

leonidas | 4/3/2007, 3:15 pm EST

not into this movie, or rosario and rose. next!

Luis Velazquez | 4/3/2007, 3:28 pm EST

We need MCR on the cover! I think they’ve done enough things to deserve it! P!ATD… But no MCR?! Come On RS. I think I won’t buy more mags.

Stuntman Keith | 4/3/2007, 3:55 pm EST

Great cover idea, can’t wait to get the issue for a change. And for anyone questioning why Cherry has a gun for a leg, you obviously don’t get it. Go rent some exploitation movies!

Rasputin | 4/3/2007, 3:59 pm EST

Why is everyone crying about getting MCR on the cover. Panic at the Disco has already been on twice. Emo will go the same way as Nu Metal. Thankfully Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park never had covers.
With Rage Against the Machine reuniting you couldn’t put them on? Not a huge fan, but less we forget The Police and Genesis comming back too. The covers haven’t been great lately (John Meyer – The New Gutair God…please) but I was pumped to see Pink Floyd on the cover last time. Thanks.

Grand | 4/3/2007, 4:17 pm EST

Emo has become the hair metal of this decade. It is all style and no substance. Since every band sounds the same the only way to tell them apart is by their makeup. In two or three years every kid who is listening all these bands will grow up a little and start to develop a little taste in music.

Brian | 4/3/2007, 4:34 pm EST

still no arcade fire?

david | 4/3/2007, 4:54 pm EST

I didnt expect to see MCR on the cover, but I hoped so. I was actully hoping fo modest mouse on the cover. rollingstones biggest magazine compepter,Spin, had the decency to put modest mouse on tyhe cover.they also put FOB on the copver. and in the feburary issue of spin they put my cheimical romanc! and before that tv on the radio! rollingstone is a better magazine, but rollingstone you need to start putting so good indie bands on the cover. Y`know, like the shins!and modest mouse! and arcade fire! still, mad props for the great pink floyd cover

david | 4/3/2007, 5:36 pm EST

kings of leons would rule!

Hannah | 4/3/2007, 5:42 pm EST

I think I speak for many when I say that you guys NEED to put My Chemical Romance on the cover.RS is one of the greatest magazines and They are one of the best bands and they have come along way in music too! I hope to see them on your cover soon!

rocky | 4/3/2007, 6:20 pm EST

Grand is wise.

Ashley | 4/3/2007, 6:47 pm EST

My chemical romance is not emo! nobody even knows what emo is, but they deserve the a cover by far, their new album is great and more people should listen to it, I wish people wouldnt be so immature and judge them by what they wear

PATHETIC ED. | 4/3/2007, 9:15 pm EST

HOW CUM U R/S GUYS DONT PUT ANY COUNTRY PEOPLE ON YOUR MAG COVER…
OK…. HOW ABOUT MORE BITCHES….
THE GRINDHOUSE COV IS DIFFERENT.
PATHETIC ED.

bagel | 4/4/2007, 1:19 am EST

it’s an exploitation movie, there’s nothing to understand, idiots.

Matthews | 4/4/2007, 1:24 am EST

I think Rose is hot and so is this cover.

replicant | 4/4/2007, 2:08 am EST

The Kings of Leon and The Arcade Fire, yeah, they deserve the cover. My Chemical Romance? no thanks

Michael | 4/4/2007, 4:03 am EST

dismemberment is sexy

dara_c | 4/4/2007, 11:19 am EST

I dont think its unfair to judge my chemical romance on what they wear, considering they are using their clothes to deliberately put forward an image. In fact, they are promoting an image more than a band at this stage.

Eclectic but Clever | 4/4/2007, 11:32 am EST

I didn’t expect Rose to act in Grindhouse, but whatever… And you guys don’t need to put MCR on the cover. You’ve already put too many “punk boy bands” on the cover already.

Schultz | 4/4/2007, 11:32 am EST

What does MCR have to do with the Grindhouse girls? Who gives a crap who is on the over (although this cover looks REALLY good – I am not objectifying these women, just appreciating their beauty), as long as the stories inside are good.

All you MCR whiners need to get over yourselves and understand that the mavericks of the entertainment industry, be it music or movies are what is important MCR are no more maverick than Mickey Mouse – at least they have the same demographic.

david | 4/4/2007, 12:12 pm EST

alos,I see no point in putting MCR on the covver. they are very good, but ehy put them on the cover? their last album came out like 6 months ago. so its not really “new” anymore. honestly,HALF A YEAR AGO.! its not new.besides SPIN did a cover for my chemical romance in feb. so RS would basicly say everything said bt SPIN allready. why dont you dirty bastards want the shins?or modest mouse? or arcade fire?or kinds of leon? C`mon!

SATAN | 4/4/2007, 5:01 pm EST

Because those bands are for hipsters in thier 30’s who want to seem like they know something. Who cares what someone else likes, or who’s on the cover, music shouldn’t be about clothes, hair styles, girls etc… It should be about passion, excitment, personal enjoyment. I have the new arcade fire and modest mouse records, and you know what, they are average at best, nothing special. When my first listens were over for thier new albums as well as the new kings of leon album, I still put in utero on and enjoyed myself, because I like it. I think the problem starts when a review is written, if it describes a ground breaking album filled with maturity and promise, then fans pile on and pretend they were there from the start, I’m sick of this poser crap, let’s all enjoy music, If someone likes MCR, then let them, if someone likes arcade fire, then let them, etc… Listen to what you love because you love it, not because some 45 year old critic says he loves it. My personal favorite band is Brand New by the way, if you like them, cool, if not, that’s ok. Lets stop the hate, obviously everyone likes what they like and you aren’t going to change thier mind by dissing them, you’ll only make them stronger.

charliemapleton | 4/4/2007, 5:52 pm EST

The perfect combination of lust and lethality:That’s going to be a serious cover.

Anonymous | 4/5/2007, 7:16 am EST

Grubby, grubby, grubby is how I would describe Rolling Stone’s latest cover. It’s also homophobic towards men in that it continues Rolling Stone’s trend of objectifying women but not men on its covers. Would Rolling Stone show two men back to back in Speedos? I doubt it.

Rolling Stone yet again shows us why it’s lost the plot and why it’s losing readers, gay and straight. Jann Wenner needs to get a new editor, preferably one who isn’t from a sleazy straight men’s magazine.

Jesus | 4/5/2007, 12:05 pm EST

I know this sounds weird, but I agree with Satan.

Go forth and listen to what you want to listen to. Do not heed the words of a pop culture magazine. Amen.

Florida Evans | 4/5/2007, 1:25 pm EST

Damn,damn,DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

charliemapleton | 4/5/2007, 1:29 pm EST

“They say sex is a weapon. So when I shoot, meet your death in less than eight seconds.”

-Jay Z feat. Foxy Brown
“Ain’t No…”,1996

And he wasn’t lyin’.

Grand | 4/5/2007, 3:40 pm EST

Unfortunantly SATAN discredits his whole point before he makes it by saying bands he sees as hipster bands don’t belong on the cover because 30 year olds want to seem like they know something. He then goes on to diss some of those bands and closes his little rant saying that there is no reason to diss bands because it only makes thier fans stronger. Rule one of debating is not to contradict yourself, expecially by being a hypocrite.

By the way there is nothing anywhere in annuls of history that says music is only for people under 30.

The reason most people are ripping MCR and emo bands like them is because they represent what is wrong with the music industry. Most of the music listening public like a wide variety of music, but not passionatly, therefore whatever gets the promotion is what sells and not necessarily what is the best music. So every five years or so the industry pushes a new style and a bunch of bands down everyones throat, and ignore most of everything else that is going on.

Right now that is emo, before that it was nu-metal, before that they tried electronica and chick folk rock, before that it was grunge, before that it was hair metal, before that it was new wave, before that it was disco and I could go all the way back to fifties of what the industry shoves down the throats of the public. Are there good bands in some of those genres, sure, but for the most part this practice has always led to marginal artists getting more attention and exposure than other more talented bands and songwriters who would require effort to promote.

People are going to listen to whatever they want, but I’m 26 and right now there are a bunch of people my age looking at a Marilyn Manson album in the back of their closet and saying to themselves “what the hell was I thinking?”

By the way, Rosario is hot.

Anonimous | 4/5/2007, 7:16 pm EST

Hey, I’m gay and I love to see Rose McGowan and Rosario Dawson on the cover. This isn’t just another cover with semi-naked girls, it is ART!!! They do not look sexy, they look SENSUAL and PROVOCATIVE, and that is more than enough for me to buy the magazine. PS: It would not hurt if the magazine came out with some HOT SEMI-NAKED MAN on the next cover, or MANY HOT SEMI-NAKED MEN on the cover, Ha, Ha,Ha!!!

. | 4/5/2007, 7:30 pm EST

blah blah blah…where’s the video of the cover shoot???!!!

Anonimous | 4/5/2007, 7:48 pm EST

Maybe if you look up you’ll see a box with some strange-looking simbols at the bottom, that is where you can see the video (only if you ptress the button with the arrow pointing at the right). Rose and Rosario look fabulous. Having more covers likethis one would not hurt.

J.D. | 4/5/2007, 11:54 pm EST

The new MCR album is a masterpiece. to classify them as emo would be a huge insult. i really don’t see anything emo about them, and if u will look closely i think anyone would have a hard time also. but putting them on the cover half a year after the album came out would be ridiculous. If you changed the “ROLLING STONE” to “FHM” no one would know the difference. If you are going to feature the grindhouse movie why not put on the cover the people who created it, Tarantino and Rodriguez? does it have to be 2 naked girls wearing bullets? it is a beautiful picture. but its making RS look cheap

anorton | 4/6/2007, 4:55 am EST

How come every time Rolling Stone magazine has a sexy cover, it’s mainly women they put on it? Why not men? Perhaps Rolling Stone doesn’t want to give the impression of appealing to gay and bisexual men, which would be ironic considering it claims to be a liberal magazine.

Maybe Rolling Stone is an example of a liberal but homophobic magazine.

corperate america wins again.

music out of politics | 4/10/2007, 2:35 pm EST

when is emo going to die? I remember when bands like weezer actually sounded good, and didnt try to make sappy sugar-punk songs that are aimed not at expressing feelings, but at getting into the pockets of american music listeners. Rolling stone is not helping by not including bands of talent in their reviews and previews. there is a spot about Lordi, the new butt rock group, but where is something about lamb of god, shadows fall, or bleeding through. It has become obvious that this magazine’s critics are being paid off by the record companies to get good reviews for their “artists”. This sickens me to the core.

Two of my favorite things in the world. Rose McGowan and Chevy Novas. One I’ve had three times. The other I just dream of having. Great cover photo. Where are the additional pictures promised? They should have been in the magazine so I could let my mind wander.

TheChunga | 4/16/2007, 9:48 pm EST

whats up with these silly Emo comments. i am sure most of you have no clue what a real emo band is – it’s not weezer i can tell you that much. – besides, good emo died in the 90s – bands like Texas is the Reason, Chamberlain, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Promise Ring were emo. back to Rose McGowan – she is hot, but she look very diiferent these days..

Long Gone John | 4/17/2007, 12:27 pm EST

“Good EMO”??? Never heard of it. Please explain in detail how EMO means anything.

Lado | 4/18/2007, 5:35 pm EST

I find it funny some people are complaining there’s never any naked guys on the cover of RS.

There’s a simple reason: dudes are ugly.

It’s not ’sexism’. Everyone can appreciate beautiful, naked women.

Romi-indonesia | 4/18/2007, 8:04 pm EST

How many of you will be humming or hearing ,in your head, the words of rap “music” 50 years from now? “Dancing In The Rain” floats into my mind on occasion or “Blue Moon” or “See The Pyramids Along The Nile”. But then I’m an Old Fart who still rememgers people like Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Theresa Brewer. Yes, I know, none of you even remember these people. You will not be hearing in your heads, the lerics to any M&M, or….well I can’t think of any of the rapers names right off hand. I just know that they cannot sing. You heard me, they can’t sing a note! They are great at chanting. I await your condemnation.

Carlos | 4/23/2007, 6:47 pm EST

No, I don’t know what rememgers means eathier. Maybe I hit the wrong key and it should have been “remembers”. So shoot me.
