For years I’ve listened to all the whining the Cubs and Red Sox have done about not winning a World Series and how their fans are the most loyal. Sometime this year the Philadelphia Phillies will pull off a stunt that no pro sports team anywhere has ever done: We will be the first team to lose 10,000 games.

Songs for the Philles(1883-2007):

Ze ppeli n – Dazed and Confused
Petty – The Waiting
Stones – 19th Nervous Breakdown
Soundgarden – Fell on Black Days
AIC – Down in a Hole

and finally, in the words of messrs. Lennon and McCartney:
HELP!!!!!

Tessie – Dropkick Murphys

It’s actually an old baseball song that the crowd would sing in the early 1900s.

Charlie:

It’s no joke. These guys are realy going to lose their 10,000th game some time this year. Perhaps I did overdo it earlier. Here are two that better fit the scenario:

Widespread Panic – Hope in a Hopeless World
Miles Davis – Kind of Blue

I sit on edge between the two. I’ve got the hope, but it’s sometimes hard not to be a little forlorn about the situation.
