- After a resounding introduction from President Bill Clinton, Elton John performed a three-hour-long set at Madison Square Garden last night. The show was in celebration of John’s 60th birthday, and it marked the 60th time the rocker has performed on the Madison Square Garden stage. John, who performed at MSG in 1974 with John Lennon in what turned out to be the Beatle’s last live appearance, played “Empty Garden,” his Lennon tribute song. “It’s too upsetting for me to sing it anywhere else,” he said of the tearjerking track. Also in attendance were Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, and of course Bernie Taupin.

- The lineup for David Bowie curated High Line festival has apparently been announced. It features appropriately noteworthy but still indie cool acts like Deerhoof, Air, and Arcade Fire. Not really the massive spectacle-creating bands many expected from a Bowie-affiliated event, but the thing is sponsored by H&M so there you go.
- Poor Win! The Arcade Fire frontman is suffering from such severe upper respiratory troubles that he’s been forced to cancel the band’s remaining European dates. In a statement Win reportedly said: “Last night I kept yelling at the monitor guy because I didn’t recognize the sound that was coming out of the monitor as my own voice, and it took me until the second song to realize that the sound was coming from me. Today I can barely speak, or make any sound, so finishing the shows is no longer possible.” Scary. Get better Win!
- Trashing a hotel room when you are a former rock star turned married father of three is sad enough. But when that hotel room is in Burbank then you know things are bad. Scott Weiland and his wife allegedly got into a vicious fight over the weekend, and destroyed their hotel room in Burbank. The hotel is now, apparently, pressing charges.
- Snoop Dogg has been denied a UK tour visa, BBC News reports. The rapper is supposed to play alongside P Diddy this week in London and at other dates throughout the UK. According to a Snoop rep, the rapper is being as conciliatory as possible, and asked asked “how he can help rectify the situation.”
