- This photo depicts the award winning diamond studded pendant owned by rapper Lil Jon. The artist has just secured his place in history by establishing the record for Largest Diamond Pendant with this $500,000, 5.11 pound, 73 carat-sporting monstrosity. Congratulations or something.
- A lot of people are really into Elton John’s 60th birthday. The rocker will be putting on an insanely decadent show at Madison Square Garden on Sunday (March 25th) and BBC.com has compiled a handy list of sixty facts about the artist. Did you know that he auditioned but was rejected from King Crimson and Gentle Giant? Fascinating stuff.
- Stereogum has the track list for the new Joni Mitchell tribute album (featuring Prince, Bjork and Elvis Costello, among others) plus a link to Sufjan Stevens’ cover of “Free Man In Paris.” Knock yourself out.
- That Carmen Electra is just so wild! First she endured a short-lived but well-publicized marriage to generic bad boy Dave Navarro, and now she’s supposedly a lesbian! Electra is rumored to be dating Joan Jett, and will supposedly appear with her at the so called “lesbian prom,” Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs later this month.
- Dave and Ray Davies are pissed off. The Clissold Arms venue in North London, which has a “Kinks Corner” honoring the fact that the band performed its first set there, is about to be renovated and turned into a non-Kinks-corner having gastropub. Ray Davies reportedly said that the decision made him “genuinely disappointed” while Dave Davies apparently asked: “Have they lost their dignity, sense of local history and English heritage?” Word. Gastropubs are eating establishment manifestations of social trend, rock history is forever.
