Prepare for Pumpkins in 2007, Spector on TV and Slint in the Studio?

Billy Corgan, Smashing Pupmkins

  • The reunited Smashing Pumpkins (or Corgan and Chamberlin & Friends) have announced their first North American concert.
  • The Phil Spector murder trial is expected to start April 30th. It will be televised, allowing the nation to marvel at both Phil’s Wall of Sound and his hair.
  • The Fratellis threaten to “shake up the music industry” with the release of their new single on USB drive format. Be afraid, music industry, be very afraid.
  • This is apparently going to be a rough week for Joss Stone.
  • Early ‘90s post-rockers Slint are reforming to perform their epic Spiderland live in its entirety. But will they record their first new material since 1991?
  • The lead singer of The Walkmen was reportedly arrested last Thursday at SXSW, the result of “drinking a lot.” He should’ve waited until the much-more appropriate St. Patrick’s Day to get drunk and disorderly.
  • At the strange collaboration department, Bright Eyes wants ?uestlove to drum for him.
  • Wait, strange collaboration dept., don’t close your doors yet. Ryan Adams will appear on the next Minnie Driver album.
  • Up-and-coming country singer Buck Jones was killed when he was struck by a drunk driver in Texas.

That article on the Pumpkins tour date says it’s in the US… in Toronto. Bad journalism makes my head asplode. Good to see (50% of) the Pumpkins back though.

What the hell is “Slint” and who cares if they’re reforming?

Bright Eyes still hasn’t realized how much he sucks, apparently. But speaking of Saddle Creek artists…I’m still waiting for Rolling Stone to give some props to The Faint. Can you dig it R.S.? THE FAINT. Plug them.

Take the fact you don’t know who slint is as an indication that you’re an idiot.
