SXSW 2007 Video: See Everything You Missed

3/19/07, 4:08 pm EST

Regular attendees know that, like in Vegas, what happens at South By Southwest is supposed to stay at South By Southwest. Nonetheless, we sent Pete Maiden down to Austin, Texas, for this year’s festival with filmmaker Alexis Boling and contributing editor Jenny Eliscu and asked him to report back to us with all the grisly details about what he had seen — from local weirdos offering free hugs amid the throngs of concertgoers on Sixth Street to can’t miss footage from emerging artists the Pipettes and A Fine Frenzy. Pete also crashed great performances by Albert Hammond Jr., Pete Townshend, The Good, the Bad and the Queen, Kings of Leon and caught unforgettable late night sets from rock & roll royalty including the Stooges and Perry Farrell’s band, Satellite Party.

See it all — including exclusive interviews with Iggy Pop, the Buzzcocks, Perry and Nuno Bettencourt — right now!

I sw your cameras out at SXSW. Your cameraman is sure a cocky prick for someone who underexposed almost every interview.

Blown away by watching Mr. Nuno Bettencourt in Perry’s new project, Satellite Party.
Super hot and totally rockin’. We need to see more of him.

I watched the vid and i have to say i am now an Official Fan of
Nuno Bettencourt. I googled Satellite Party and then Nuno. The Satellite Party Samples over @ AOL First Listen as well as the SP Myspace are brilliant. But i must say i was most taken with what Nuno has been doing since 1997.I am amazed at how diverse and eclectic this guys music is…i mean ALL of the music, not just the mans unearthly talent playing the Guitar. ESPECIALLY the most recent efforts in the form of DramaGods and Population-1. The combination of Nuno + Perry somehow makes perfect sense now. Cant Wait!

coemgen | 3/19/2007, 11:50 pm EST

Mute Math deserved more time in that clip than two seconds.

The Stooges are cool though.

Kyle | 3/19/2007, 9:00 pm EST

The Stooges utterly destroyed. Iggy went off like it was 1969.

Mike | 3/19/2007, 7:56 pm EST

Nuno Bettencourt? Haha, I thought that guy died from a has-been overdose a long time ago.

Matt | 3/19/2007, 6:57 pm EST

The Stooges were pretty amazing. My favorite show of the fest was Kings of Leon. Also great performances from Pete and the Pirates, Mando Diao, Mew, Cold War Kids, The Cinematics,The Horrors, The Fratellis, and Elvis Perkins. My first SXSW was a was an amazing experience.
