Slash’s Special SXSW Guest, U2 Goes 3-D and More

3/16/07, 9:19 am EST

Rage, Slash

  • Despite a blogosphere of rumors, Rage Against the Machine did not reunite Wednesday night at SXSW. But at last night’s show at the Parish…
  • The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne tries his best to infuse a little bit of humor into Jay Leno’s The Tonight Show.
  • Calling Captain EO: U2 is set to be featured in a 3-D film.
  • If you live in Tobago and you enjoy your sexual orientation, do not listen to Elton John. He could destroy everything you know.
  • Paul Wall maybe said he’s collaborating with Jermaine Dupri, but it’s so hard to tell with those grillz in his mouth.
  • If the Pope thinks Bob Dylan is the “wrong kind of prophet,” then who is the right kind?
  • Simon Cowell thinks he’s bigger than Springsteen. He almost certainly is…but only for girls aged 11-17. Congrats!
  • The Shins are headlining one of MTV’s Campus Invasion Festivals, yet for some reason, no actual campuses are being invaded.

Remove all the miracles mumbo jumbo from the bible and Dylan is either the same as or greater than Jesus

Nick | 3/16/2007, 10:21 am EST

hey floydfan88, this is how you spell “prophet”.

Mike | 3/16/2007, 10:26 am EST

Oh, and Dylan is NOT a prophet. He’s merely a great songwriter who says a lot of things in a more clever fashion than any of us can say them. Stop acting as if he’s anything other than human. In case you missed that whole section in Chronicles… he kinda hates that.

The Pope’s German. Maybe he’s Rammstein fan. Or Can.

Kudos to Wayne Coyne for being able to strddle that weird line between writing songs about vaseline on toast and appearing on the most generic, conventional talk show on television.

Religion is the opiate of the masses!

Justin | 3/16/2007, 1:26 pm EST

Wow why aren’t we forcing everyone to sing in Gregorian chant and Latin? Clearly it’s the word of God.

Killa | 3/16/2007, 1:26 pm EST

Slash is da man! He really ripped it on the R&R Hall of Fame show when VR covered ‘Ain’t talkin bout love’.

Will | 3/16/2007, 1:44 pm EST

Hold on… Clay Aiken’s debut album means more to music than “Born in the USA”? Oh wow, who knew?

I must not be an intelligent music fan. I mean, I listen to hack acts like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Who, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, Jay-Z, Bruce Springsteen, The Velvet Underground, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Radiohead, David Bowie, Prince, Elvis Costello, The Eagles, U2, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Sammy Davis Jr., Aretha Franklin, Queen, The Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and John Lee Hooker.

Surely I don’t know what music is if I can’t sing along to a Ruben Studdard song.

This must be an old picture of Slash.. how the hell could he smile after that Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fiasco? Sure made Eddie look good, and I thought that was impossible!

Gear up for grub with a tripleheader of pigskin, including a meeting of brothers in Dallas. Everybody knows it’s been a rough year for her, but find out who else had issues
