- The only thing more exciting than the Jesus and Mary Chain’s upcoming reunion is the news that Bobby Gillespie wants in on it. The Primal Scream frontman and former Mary Chain drummer has reportedly spoken out about the band’s reunion, calling the Reid brothers “heroes” of his, and indicating that he’d totally play with them if they asked. “If they asked me I would play, I haven’t played with them since 1985 you know. It’s a long time ago, the last time I saw them play was ‘98 and then they split up 3 days later,” Gillespie recalled. “Fantastic, I love them, great friends, heroes of mine and I am so pleased for them.” Somebody make this happen!
- Good news: If you’re inclined to pay $3,500 to share Japanese oxygen with Michael Jackson, you still can. Tickets for the pop star’s big VIP-only party on Thursday are still available.
- This is a rock bio we can get psyched about: genius producer Tony Visconti, who let Bowie be Bowie, made Marc Bolan Marc Bolan, and has worked with everyone else from U2 to Morrissey, has written an autobiography, Tony Visconti: The Autobiography — Bowie, Bolan and the Brooklyn Boy. Discussing his current relationship with Bowie, Visconti said they share YouTube clips with each other: “I just got an e-mail from Bowie. We e-mail all the time, we send each other clips from YouTube and discuss the finer points of growing old.”
- Has it already been five years since Maroon 5 released Songs About Jane? We’ve only recently stopped cringing every time we enter a mall/supermarket/retail establishment of any kind, sure we’re going to be assaulted by “This Love.” And now we hear that they’re coming back with the moronically titled It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, out May 22nd.
