New Dylan Book May Not Be Redundant, Pearl Jam Headlining Lollapalooza? And More

3/1/07, 2:37 pm EST

Dylan

  • Another book about Dylan? Wow! That sounds so…unnecessary! Actually, the book — Bob Dylan: Intimate Insights From Friends And Fellow Musicians (out in June) — sounds kinda cool. It’s an oral history that explores the great man’s influence on culture via the musings of his peers/admirers. When that list includes the Beatles, the Band, Bono, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen and many others, the idea sounds a lot more compelling.
  • Whoa, apparently Pearl Jam will be headlining Lollapalooza? According to the Chicago Sun-Times the legendary rockers (who gave their young career a boost performing at the festival back in 1992) are expected to take over the top spot at this year’s festival, held August 3-5.
  • Bobby Brown, who was put in jail for unpaid child support, has been released after paying the balance of what he owed to Kim Ward, the mother of his kids.
  • Wilco tease all of American by announcing a slew of tour dates, all of which will take place overseas. However, as Pitchfork points out, the band’s scheduled appearance at Bonnaroo in June makes an American tour plausible. Tour dates after the jump.

Wilco Tour Dates:

04-16 Brisbane, Australia – Tivoli
04-18 Melbourne, Australia – Palais Theatre
04-21 Sydney, Australia – Enmore Theatre
04-22 Perth, Australia – Metropolis Freemantle
05-19 Somerset, England – Butlins Minehead (ATP vs. the Fans)
05-20 London, England – Shepherds Bush Empire
05-23 Cologne, Germany – Live Music Hall
05-24 Berlin, Germany – Kesselhaus
05-25 Hamburg, Germany – Grosse Freiheit
05-26 Dresden, Germany – Alter Schlachthof
05-28 Frankfurt, Germany – Mousonturm
05-29 Paris, France – Bataclan
05-30 Ghent, Belgium – De Vooruit
05-31 Amsterdam, the Netherlands – Paradiso
06-02 Barcelona, Spain – Primavera Sound
06-14-17 Manchester, TN – Bonnaroo

A Dylan book, Pearl Jam, Bobby Brown, Wilco . . . Nothing going on, in other words.

I really hope Wilco tours the US…those guys are easily one of the best bands out there right now!

In other news, Velvet Revolver is performing and inducting Van Halen into the Rock Hall because Eddie is a miserable chainsmoking alcoholic cokehead.

I wonder if even one person is happy to hear that?

Legends talking about THE legend, One of the largest bands in the world (check out tix sales, bub) headlining one of the countries premiere festivals, ok – I’ll give you Bobby Brown, and easily one of the finest alternative/touring acts in the country right now. Yeah, nothing really going on right now…

Damnit RS – bring back all that mouthwatering Fall Out Boy news!

Good call, surley. I was also pretty much dis-sold on this book by Bono’s name. He’s a good person but I do not want to hear him talk ever again.

Speaking of Bob Dylan books, when is Chronicles Vol II coming out??

When the un-Chosen people of Australia, the poop stars, frame someone, they do an air-tight “slick willy” job. Colloquialism, willy is my penis, etc.
Sure, intimates, etc.
I know members of the mafia who’d kill you dead for 50 cents.
