Timbaland Makes Nelly Furtado (Even More) Tedious

2/28/07, 12:48 pm EST

If you ever wanted to see Timbaland’s home movies, now is your chance. The video for “Give It to Me,” the producer-turned-rapper’s first single off debut solo album Shock Value, is essentially a montage of web-cam-esque shots of Timba and his collaborators — Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake — interspersed with tedious, poorly shot onstage footage. Sometimes a limo rolls by or JT laughs at something we must assume was funny. That’s it.

We were hoping a kick-ass video could save this song for us, but instead we’re feeling even more skeptical about this record. Let’s hope the Hives collaboration rocks…Do you think this clip helps or hurts the song?

Poorly shot…did you review this video on Television or on a small internet window. If you see it ontv.

Who hired this person at Rollingstone magazine.

What an insult to one of the most prolific, and innovative producer there is today.

You should be fired for writing such a comment.

You sound just like one of those 8 year old haters…change your profession and get professional.

Sad that a Rolling Stones columist would write such a tasteles article about the quality of the most original music video on tv today.

Wow…seems like originality isn’t valued at all these days.

Album is called shock value..and you were shocked.

Nowadays with Myspace, youtube and other mediums controlling the universe this video fits right in, and i’d hope to see artist be more different in the futrure.

What’d you expect glitz and glam…hell its a diss song…and they are keeping it more real than anyone nowadays.

Dont hate…create!

Have an open mind and not move to the beat of the same ol drum as everyone else!

I love the song and the video. I love it when live footage is in a video. In fact I wouldn’t mind it if all video’s were taken from live performances.

Timbaland produced some great songs in the late 90’s, but he is the most annoying producer today.

The grating synthesizers and horrible drum kits in his songs scream materialistic and shallow production. He doesn’t care about music. He only cares about getting exposure and watching young girls in clubs get raped by guys 20 years older than them because they danced to his crappy songs.

That’s the blood diamond in club records. Sacrificing hits for the young men and women in our society and subjugating them to rape, drugs, violence, alcohol and bad music. Thank you, Timbaland.

Lame club song. Nobody would talk about it if it wasn’t produced by Timbaland. That guy needs to get to rap records.
