- Somebody stop him. Kevin Federline, who has showed a previously unimaginable level of savvy by keeping his nose clean over the last few months while Britney indulges in a very public downward spiral, now may have a genuine shot at taking his soon-to-be ex’s children away from her. K-Fed is reportedly heading to court this morning with the intention of filing for emergency custody of the couple’s two boys and anyone with an US Weekly subscription can see how he might get it.
- Industry news: BrooklynVegan is busy speculating as to which bands will be/have been dropped thanks to the Capitol/Virgin merger. Kevin Devine has reportedly confirmed he’s been dropped, and other names on the likely-to-go list apparently include the Vines, the Dandy Warhols, The Shout Out Louds, Fischerspooner, and possibly Moby. Meanwhile, Interscope Geffen A&M apparently says its merged with Octone Records (Maroon 5’s label) to launch a new label, dubbed A&M/Octone.
- Dreamworks has reportedly apologized to Motown Records via two full-page ads in The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Varitey, which remind everyone that Dreamgirls is a work of fiction. Apparently several artists affiliated with the venerated label have expressed dismay at the way the label is portrayed in the film, and feathers were in need of smoothing.
- The immensely talented Brit hip-hop artist Dizzee Rascal has announced that Lily Allen and Joss Stone will both contribute vocals to his third record. No idea what it’s called or when it’s coming out, but it’s gonna be huge. “I want this album to go multi-platinum,” the rapper reportedly said.
