It looks like David Lee Roth’s first tour with Van Halen in twenty-three years won’t happen, after all. Over the weekend, employees of tour promoters Live Nation were informed that “the Van Halen tour has been shut down.” It’s not yet clear what went wrong: Just last week, the band released their first official photo of their new line-up to Rolling Stone. At the time, Roth told us that he was thrilled about the tour, and that the reunion could be permanent: “I have hope and faith – and that’s more than just the name of a couple of strippers from Albuquerque,” he said. Check back here for more VH news as the story unfolds.

That’s okay. I can see how that would happen. But, in the end, we all have our own oppinion. We just have to learn to accept it. But, if your name is Ironman, that’s impossible!! You know, he’s shut up. I wonder what happened to him. So, you’re a VH fan. What’s your favorite song?
rok-lovr | 4/30/2008, 9:00 pm EST
yeah dee i think that vh is a pretty cool band compared to kiss but my friend did a project on kiss and i’m doin’ a project on eddie , we ended in a fight of who is the best

hey scott ur an idiot, there is a reason why van halen is know has one of the greatest rock bands of al time. HOw many albums totaled has rush solfd over 35 years, 40 million, Van Halen has sold 80 millions and they havent been around as long. VAN Halen with the exception of only Zeppelin is THE GREATEST ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME.
Scott | 3/4/2008, 6:47 pm EST
That’s Ok I will see Rush again in Miwaukee after just seeing them recently. To me TRusah is 10 times the band Van Halen is so I don’t really care though i may have seen them if I could hsave gotton cheap tickets. Need to save anothe $600.00 to $700.00 for first or second row for Rush
VanHalenFAN_4_Life | 3/3/2008, 4:01 pm EST
You negative Nancy-boyz are such pathetic little weezles. Any chance to diss the mighty Van Halen in deference to your own whiny little cry-baby fests aren’t worth commenting on. BUT what is worth commenting on is the latest factoid to come out of the VH management camp/ The tour is NOT being cancelled. Eddie is seeing a doctor. The man might be ill and he wants to get better. The tour will procede as planned. So, shut the f*ck up, you bunch of Sammy Hagar Fans.

Looks like the 2008 tour is off again. Eddie supposedly flunked his urine test.

kissfan4life, that’s the biggest bunch of bullshit that I’ve heard in my life! If you’re a KISS fan for life, you don’t sound like one! I can name a few people that haven’t heard Rock and Roll all nite! Nathan, Brooklyn, Tiffany, Ashley, the list goes on and on! You sit there and say that I don’t know music, how dare you!!!!! Michael Anthony, I know you’re probably mad at Eddie, but as far as I know, the reason why Wolfgang is rocking in your place is because you denied the chance for a reunion! Can you really call it a reunion! It’s you’re fault in the end, don’t blame Eddie for this! Come out and play!! One more thing, ya’ mama!!!! I’m not black though!!

The Hard, Cold Truth:
It doesn’t matter whether or not the RRHOF award itself is valuable. It’s an acknowledgment from artist peers and a chance for fans to see the “one-time” event. For the fans that have bought their albums over the years to help support their wonderful lifestyle - at the least some members of VH could have made a showing at the RRHOF. Eff-them! I’d been the loyalist of fans through all the years, (since the beginning), but when they didn’t show it spoke volumes to me. I was so looking forward to see them receive that award. What a mess that was! But that’s old news. Truth is, they don’t give a rats as$ about the fans. That’s a fact. DLR is a giant as$ and so are the brothers. The only ones with class are no longer in the band.
PamelaC | 8/11/2007, 10:46 am EST
I have no idea whether VH reads any of these comments, but I hope this message gets to one of them. My daughter doesn’t know about the squabbling, politics or delays, she just loves the music. If VH plays in Nashville or any where near and I can afford the tickets, I will drive her to the concert. This might be the last chance for her to see you in concert. You see she is now 12, her dad was one of your biggest fans. You never knew him, but he partied right along with you. Serious addiction–several of the best rehabs. When he finally became clean, the years of abuse to his body had taken its toll. In 2002 I took my daughter to see David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar when they played in Nashville. Everyone stood up and I don’t think she could see the stage, but she heard the music. Her dad was too sick to attend the concert. He died six months after that. Hospice and grief counselors played an important role in her life. At the funeral, she brought some of her dad’s favorite cds. When it came time to pay last respects at graveside, I asked her what she wanted played. She responded, “Running With The Devil.” Everyone laughed and said Joe would have loved that.
So VH when you’re out there on tour, remember there is a young girl, that’s an honor roll student, civil war reenacting drummer, and just a delightful daugher, that is in the audience for very special circumstances.
O'Neal | 8/10/2007, 10:31 pm EST
Ok, we are all human here, not to sound like a dork but come on. Are we all perfect? Ehmm, NOT! If some one is having problems shouldn’t we grant them some compassion and or support? After all we are the ones listening/paying for the music these guys put out. If you don’t like it don’t listen. First off Sammy never road on the coat tails of van halen to become a success. He was well into his own before van halen and is 100% all american rock and roll, the “red rocker” before and after VH. Hat’s off to you sammy, and to VH. My brothers and I are all musicians and grew up listening to Van Halen and Sammy Haggar before joining Van Halen. Of course the switch from lead vocalists was hard to cope with as was with every VH fan. People just don’t like change. But even with Sammy on vocals there was tremendous success and produced loads of great songs and albums. I doubt anyone posting here can say they have made one single hit song or record. That’s what it’s about in my oppinion, the music. Look, everyone of us has our own faults and demons to deal with in life. If eddie is having trouble and since every one posting here apperantly has some interest or liking to the band or memebers past or present then we should be supporting them not critical. All I am saying is I love the music VH has produced through the years. Yes, I admit I was agrivated by the loss of David as the lead vocalist “back in the day” but ya cant take it out on the guy that replaced him just because he wasn’t the original. Some times people just don’t get along for what ever reasons and need to make changes. Point the blame where you want but it leads no where. I don’t know maybe I am just getting old but I simply say make the music and rock on!!! VH and Sammy keep rocking…
howdy doody resident | 6/13/2007, 12:01 am EST
Speaking of the RRHOF, sammy couldnt be any more luckier hitching up with these guys and he’s not even in the band anymore! i know roth isnt either but he was a founding member after all. and sammy’s montrose may not have made it for long long time, if at all. talk about the best ride on coat tails anyone could have ever been on!

This is truly a strange debate indeed. Kiss vs. VH. Why bother? Another apples and oranges argument that sucks up space. On another more positive note; I hope Eddie gets well soon. I’m going to put some VH on right now and crank-it for the neighbors. Think I’ll fire up the geetar amp as well.
rocka rolla | 4/3/2007, 8:48 pm EST
sheesh… this debate is really silly. Both Kiss and Dave era VH are two of the greatest bands of all time. In each bands prime, they could bring the rock. BIG TIME.Something sorely lacking with bands today.I would say to the clown who made a lame case, and i mean LAME, that somehow because VH has in later years made disasterous decisions.(Cherone, dropping the ball in ‘96,shitting on Mike)that this makes Kiss better. The Kiss family is not quite as joyful as some stupid asses might think.Lets put it this way,if it were the 1800’s, Ace and Peter would be picking the cotton for Gene and Paul’s Shirts.I’ll give you a better example. How bout last years VH-1 Rock Honors where Ace plays with the warm up band and when Kiss plays… NO ACE! what the hell? So in other words, after 30 years nobody is flawless, dick.
Sonic Templar | 4/3/2007, 2:00 am EST
rest yor dick in yor mouf…if you think kiss was EVER as good as VH between 78 and 83 you should put down the crack pipe… and of course we all know demon gene popped up the dough for VH demos. That hardly translates that kiss was better than VH.

just to comment on what some moron said about Van Halen being ALL that KISS could never be..Hey genius you know Gene Simmions discoverd VH right? VH was and still is a great band but their night and day. name one song from VH that everyone on the planet knows..come on come on…ok now name one person that dooesnt know ROCK AND ROLL ALL NITE!! cant do it can you? I rest my case.
Jim in Monterey, CA. | 3/24/2007, 1:06 pm EST
To VanHagar for Life, it’s OK if you want to rag on VR, LOL. I’m truly not into that sort of thing. They write some interesting material but I’m not a huge fan. Yes, Slash was playing that song in a strange place on the guitar though I suppose it could work. The tone is way off in that position however. Probably wouldn’t notice much on Slash’s gear though. Everyone always plays that on the first so I don’t know what he was thinking. Plus he was flubbing up right and left. I still say he had a few before he went out. Scott just sounded weird!
I never bother with these boards but VH was really important to my youth and music experience. Very disappointing over all that’s happened. I feel better now that I’ve vented, LOL. Yes, after all the cr@p I’ve spewed on this board I too would go to a VH show, sad huh? There aint no way I’d miss a chance to see Eddie for one possibly last time. I sure hope they get MA back in though.

Sammy vs. Dave? Totally different music when either men front VH. Dave w/ VH in the early days through 1984 was incredible. My highschool days were filled w/ music from VH 8 tracks and albumns! “Aint talkin bout love” is one of the best rock n roll songs, (just my opinion)
See ya! Cimm

Ironman, I can`t believe any metal fan would ever put down KISS! You are fucking insane! KISS is the best and will continue to be. Van Halen isn`t as good as KISS because KISS wasn`t fucking dumb enough to get Sammy Hagar to sing and be drunk and stupid for them. You`re the only one who is fucking stupid enough to say that! VH should have kept David Lee Roth. Regis could`ve been they`re singer, he`s better than Sammy. KISS never made that big of a mistake. Fuck you!
VanHagar for Life | 3/16/2007, 12:07 pm EST
To Jim in Monterey, CA-
Yeah, and the way he played it down the neck was just not correct. Eddie always (and so do I for that matter) plays it up in first postition. Oh well. As far as regaining the fanbase- I dunno. I know I’d buy a ticket. I just would. If Eddie says it’s a go, I’m going. No question. I’m an Eddie Van Halen fan. That’s why I try to stay out of the “who’s better than who” bullshit. Ultimately, I really don’t care. I know what speaks to me, and that’s it. Oh, and I definitely wasn’t ragging on VR, just that performance. Peace.
Sonic Templar | 3/16/2007, 12:44 am EST
well Im sure if DLR could sell his soul to be forever frozen in 1981, he would do it in a second. Unfortunately, father time can turn out to be a nasty MF.Thats not a DLR problem, thats a harsh reality we ALL must face eventually. Now,where was all this fucking negativity when Kiss came back? Is Kiss something more special than classic VH? SHIT NO. Hell, in my mind, VH was everything Kiss never was and never would be.
Ironman | 3/15/2007, 11:15 pm EST
Sonic Templar:
My original post said DLR WAS the man, until Diver Down came out. No doubt, the first 4 VH albums rocked hard!!!! No doubt. But now DLR is a cartoon character. He looks like the Crypt Keeper.
His solo career was a joke. Sammy is more mature, and a much better performer. DLR is to much a ham. So I choose Sammy over Hammy!

To “VanHagar for Life”,. Hey , I’m a huge VR fan but seriously, Slash’s opening of “Ain’t Talkin Bout Love” was so sloppy I was embarrased for him. The little kids in our neighborhood can do better! Scott has never sounded so bad. It didn’t work. God, I wish they had picked someone else to take the sting out of the evening. I’m not sure yet wether VH will ever regain their fan base now.
48_nelaH_naV | 3/15/2007, 4:44 pm EST
I need to correct myself from below.
VH/DLR - 6 albums {No “Live” or “Hits”} = 37.7 million in sales.
VH/SH - 7 albums {1/”Live” & 2/”Hits”} = 18 million in sales.
U.S sales quoted here.

VanHagar for Life | 3/15/2007, 9:47 am EST
The RRHOF performance by Velvet Revolver- Wow. Could that have sucked any more? Musically a sound performance of Aint Talkin Bout Love, vocally…yikes!! Slash was ok. He could afford to be “ok” with a rythym guitarist, but that’s probably beside the point. As far as what they called Runaround, that was just awful. Sammy and Mikey sounded great despite the odd arrangement they had of Why Can’t This Be Love. Horns?!? Anyway… I just hope Eddie swims out of the bottle and we get SOMETHING we can call Van Halen again SOON!!!!
PS- Yes, I’m a Sammy fan, but I would MUCH rather have seen Diamond Dave up there instead of Weiland.

Dig those moves, vam-pire
Set me loose, get it higher.

He should stick with his Scooby Dooby zabba zabba boo boo stuff, and let Sammy do the real singing.

Jim in Monterey, CA. | 3/14/2007, 11:53 pm EST
The Dave vs. Sammy debate is just such a waste of time. Regardless of which era you like or maybe both it doesn’t change the fact that some VanHalen members don’t care about us fans at all! They’ve become spoiled rich, self-centered, immature babies. Perhaps they always were. I’m an naive idiot for letting that fact pass over me for so long. On the flip-side; I sure hope Ed feels better soon. I can’t imagine going through all he has so publicly.

Better enjoy the rockers while we gottum kids, cuz in ten years the RRHOF inductees will be 5 rap acts to maybe one “rock” act. Thanks to some moron who obviously hates rock and roll.
Iron Man | 3/14/2007, 9:50 pm EST
Lets compare DLR to Sammy. In the early days, DLR was THE ultimate rocker. Every album up to Diver Down was solid GOLD baby. Then, Diver Down came out. Since that album, Dave has become a cartoon character. All he wants to do is “zappa zappa zoo zoo” and “scooby doo” when he sings. His “bop, zuzza zuzza bop, zidda bop” is soooooo old. Grow up. Then came Sammy. 5150 propelled VH to a whole new level of music. Sammy brought an aspect to Van Halen that the cartoon character DLR could never bring. Can you imagine DLR trying to sing Not Enough? I guess Eddie could play a banjo and have DLR put cimbals on his needs so he can ham bone!!!! Sammy IS Van Halen. I went to see VAN Haln on their most recent tour in Greensboro and Atlanta. In Atlanta, I had the seats inside the stage, about 2 feet from Michael. Sammy and Michael interacted withe crown, high fived uh, gave us their autographs, etc…. Eddie wouldnt even make eye contact with the audience, and NEVER acknowledged us. Alex was the same. Sammy and Michael gave made the show, at least they acknowledged their fans. I guess that is too much to ask from Eddie And Alex. Too bad the greatest guitarist who ever lived will be remembered for his pouting, not his music. I have been a DIEHARD LOYAL VH fan since 1980, but I must say, they have blown it.

Eddie,
Come on baby, finish what ya started. . .
Jim in Monterey, CA. | 3/13/2007, 11:38 pm EST
The worst part of the evening was seeing VR screwup a VanHalen song. It was painful to watch and hear. I swear Slash was loaded as his playing sucked bigtime. I guess if I were in his place under those circumstances I’d get loaded too!
REMeliminator | 3/13/2007, 10:32 pm EST
It’s all a conspiracy for REM to sublimate us to their their stupid lame Rock N’ Roll like music…
Long Live Van Halen!!!

God! What a disappointing night. REM trying to upstage our Van Halen.

I’m still ticked. I looked forward to seeing the members of VH inducted into the RRHOF. The greatest/rock party band of all time and only two members show up! One of them is not a founding member and the other a founding member but kicked out of the band. At least those guys have some class! Only one member had any excuse at all for not showing up. The others just took a huge dump on their fans.
Don | 3/13/2007, 4:19 pm EST
As far as Van Halen and the RRHOF,
Eddie had an excuse, Alex I guess didn’t want to go without his lil bro. Mike and Sam proved they are a class act. DLR no excuse, you need to grow up.

Hey Dave, there’s always American Idol.
done with VH | 3/13/2007, 12:50 pm EST
I’m so over the whole Van Halen thing. I have been a die-hard fan since way back when. But being inducted into the Hall of Fame is a moment of a lifetime. They couldn’t get their collective @#*% together for at least one night!? Can’t you do it for the ‘kids’? Quit taking everything for granted. Before you know it, it’ll be gone. Oh, wait it IS gone! I just can’t take it anymore. I’m done.
I’m not planning on dropping good money down on tickets to a half-baked wannabe revival. Good riddance and grow up!
48_nelaH_naV | 3/13/2007, 12:09 pm EST
Hey Buzz,
Could you please explain why VH/DLR sold 37.7 million albums, when VH/SH only sold 18 million?
Both have the same amount of albums {5} not counting complilations of which, again more complilations {greatest hits albums} during the SH era.
Having #1 albums don’t mean diddly if the sales aren’t there.
Maybe #1 albums because of radio airplay, but certainly not from sales.
I’ve quoted U.S. sales figures here.
Dynomite Dennywarren | 3/13/2007, 11:42 am EST
If other oldies bands can put the shit to one side for the money I have a suggestion Call it the SAM and DAVE tour. DLR, Sammy, Eddie ,Mike ,Alex and Wolfie all on the same stage do the damn show let the die-hard fans pay outrageous money for tickets .Start out with Chicago, NYC ,LA,Dallas 6 or so shows and see if it all holds together . Hopefully (And I mean it) those in the band with substance abuse problems get clean and find happiness the music isn`t important for some of these guys ..if it was they would find a way around the ego `s and get onto the buisness of making music AND money !
Brian | 3/13/2007, 11:05 am EST

Carl G | 3/13/2007, 10:21 am EST
To EDDIE,DAVE,MIKE AND ALEX,
PLEASE!!! put the past behind you and get this tour back on track, when i was growing up with you listening to that GREAT!!sound of VAN HALEN Iwas crushed when you broke up, i though sammy was better by himself than with van halen, dave your the best ,you guy’s can do ,look at the problems that def leppard had that band i love and they have true loyalty to there band and rock and roll, the stones are old but they are still together and still rock.PLEASE get the tour going and come to ST.LOUIS so i can see you guys have fun again,i have been waiting for a reuniun for ,well since you guy’s broke up, it won’t be right without mike but i do agree you should at least let wolfgang play a few songs with the band, maybe right a couple of new songs with him playing bass, van halen was the best rock group back then so please get back together and make the tour happen so you can be great again, eddie get well soon and hopefully i will see you guy’s soon in st.louis
Dean | 3/13/2007, 9:54 am EST
I was very upset last night watching the rock-n-roll hall-o-shame inductions. I only watched for van halen and I didn’t know Eddie, Alex and Dave weren’t going to be there. I understand why Eddie wasn’t there, but for Dave and Alex not to show up was a shame. I am so bummed out about what’s going on with these guys.
I hate to say it but Rock-n-Roll is dying out!!!!!

So, if they are old news or washed up, why are you guys on this forum hitting that keyboard with a fury? LOL
Legendary Van Halen doesn’t get touched by anyone………..
K Hat | 3/13/2007, 12:24 am EST
There are two reason why this didn’t happen. One, Ed has some major personal issues, and I hope he wins his battle against those demons.
Two, this band is not marketable anymore. They were going to tour with no new music, and the band would have been going on tour with about two months worth of pratice.
If a promoter was to touch this, they would only be holding out on the loyal fans that are in their 40’s and 50’s to shell out big bucks to see a two hour show.
They also know how Dave is, like him or not, he has an ego the size of a stadium, and he’s proven he can’t get along with anyone. It would be a NASCAR wreck waiting to happen.
In addition, Dave has no new material, expect for some lame Van Halen material/Bluegrass CD that was a joke.
In all respect to the kid, it would be a big gamble to promote a band with a 16 year old bass player.
I don’t like to rain on your parade, but don’t hold your breath, a Van Halen tour with these four, and no new material just won’t happen.

buzz | 3/12/2007, 6:02 pm EST
p.s. anyone who thinks the reason eddie didn’t ask Michael to do the tour because he was “in another band” is ridiculous. He wasn’t in another band in 2004 when Eddie didn’t want Michael for that tour either. But sammy wouldn’t do it without Michael. As Sammy said even then “how do you do a reunion tour without the original members?”..For some reason people want to keep makeing excuses for Eddie’s bad behavior towards his bandmates and his decisions. Well hope he gets better drys out and wakes up and realizes as great as he is he wouldn’t of done it alone. Without a great front man you don’t sell 50 millin albums. Roth WAS great..Sammy and Michael ARE great…
buzz | 3/12/2007, 5:53 pm EST
How blind do you have to be to see that Eddie is the reason Van Halen broke up the first time and second time. As far as Roth is concerned anyone who has heard him lately or saw him on the Hagar/Roth tour together realizes its not 1982 anymore and spandex is out alond with his hair. He was horrible 4 years ago on that tour and it would be pathetic to see a guy try to do a karate kick who can’t lift his leg above his stomache. As far as Kracker is concerned Hagar is the only one left with a career. You might think Van Halen saved his career I see it the other way around. Van halen reinvented themselves with his writing and BTW never had a #1 album til 5150 and then had 4 in a row..Nothing the OLD Van Halen did. Dont get me wrong those albums were great and I love the music although I think Diamond dave is a ridiculous Vegas act these days. Noone is cooler than Michael Anthony in the group and who does he hang with these days? Sammy and Michael are true rockers moving forward with their careers not stuck in the past. So for Kracker to say Sammy’s career was over without Van Halen should realize Gary Cherone would of gotten the call many years earlier and its Eddies career which woulda ended not Sammy’s……..
Davis | 3/11/2007, 6:18 pm EST
Minimom you rock!!
love your positive outlook, I cant wait to see the VH family play as well. Mike was a great bass player and backing vocalist in the band and is original as they come, but like Ed said “he plays in another band now and you can’t be in two bands”. Bring on wolfie!!
OLD FAN ! | 3/11/2007, 1:13 am EST
How many of you remember when they played back yard parties…
Minimom | 3/10/2007, 11:34 pm EST
OK, I’ve gotta say something here. Ed happens to be a friend of mine and I’m SO happy that he has decided to get clean for good. He is playing better than ever and Wolfie is a phenomenal bass player (and drummer!) AND the sweetest kid I know next to my own son. People need to withhold judgement until they hear the Van Halen family play together. It’s the way it was meant to be and I, for one, can’t wait for the tour which WILL happen!
Kracker | 3/10/2007, 8:49 pm EST
Important to note: Notice I did not use Sammy’s name in the same sentence as “Van Halen”. He has no right. His life would have ended as the pathtic putz55 if it wasn’t for eddie. Sammy, Eddie saved your career, have a little f****ng humility. I know you personally as well and, well, you are and egotisical pr**k who rode on the coattails of a true legend. Whoooo good for you, you own a bar in Mexico, mr. big time making half ass appearences on half baked Rocker Stations that no one listens to anymore. Van Halen was a “group”. The Grateful Dead never tried to “get another singer”–not that I am a big dead fan or anything, I am not, but they had the respect and dignity to let the sun set. After the original VH, it was just another group….never did Post VH capture the essence of the original vibe(guess I am giving DLR a little credit here, but he’s still a twit”. Very few of us have the right to say we have ever been truly “the best” at anything. Eddie, you earned that. Give back to us what you can, but remember to keep some for yourself.
Kracker | 3/10/2007, 8:41 pm EST
Ok, I lied, my middle name is Paul, thats what he liked to call me. Van Halen, hmmmm….god bless Eddie and his trials…thats why there are MP3’s,CD’s, cassettes, and 8 tracks. What ever transpires, that was who they were, it may be a different sound, a trip down memory lane, but if you in any way think people are going to instantly start wearing bandanas again you are dellusional. Respect an era when it has past, Eddie, enjoy yourself, whether that be music or fishing, just have a good life, you have produced history, something few can say, history rarely repeats, we should all respect where it rests in the books.
And Eddie, not that you’ll be reading this, but you know DLR and the way he really was, I have a lot of respect for you never using those things against him publically….in that, and what few know, you were the bigger person in that time. Get it people “Van Halen”–the brothers say who stays and who goes, not the the rest, its their business, not ours.
deeprblue | 3/10/2007, 4:34 pm EST
This forum is a mess and an Insult to one of the hardest working acts in the music buissness. The point Now should be That the fans realize How ill Ed is and wish him well. Why are people surprised by the decisions to tour with a fifteen yr old and Bring back a proven loser in DLR. Alcohol and Drugs are known to cloud the decisions that users make. The point is Eddie is Not thinking clearly, He is a sick guy who needs friends and family to intervene and support him so we don’t lose him. So he is trying to Will back the success he remembers in the haydays, anybody would. Prolonged abuse has made Ed dilusional and he is battling his own genious, besides alcoholism. The band peaked with Sammy as it should have. Hopefully, eddie will sustain his sobriety if he gets it. He is only a Human, besides having Guitar Prowess. I love that Guy, the real Eddie, I just hope we are all Lucky enouph to see him Do what he does Best. Eddie is a musical Genius, I have never known any musician with his level of talent whom has not have problems. That being said, I love Eddie and wish him a happy and long Life,. Thanks to Eddie and all of the the original group for some of the best kick ass rock and roll ever. I never Pray, But I am praying Now For Eddie and all of His talented bandmates. I really don’t care if the band plays ever again. I just cant Imagine losing another Rock Icon. Eddie get well soon, all the true fans miss you and don’t need to write negative crap to enetrtain themselves. deepr

I was so physched to get the chance to see David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen together again, it just couldn’t get any better than that. Sure hope they change there mind and there is a tour.
I think Wolfgang is probably a huge talent and should be given a chance to jam with his father. Can’t go wrong with DLR and EVH together again!!!!

atruevanhalenfan | 3/9/2007, 3:16 pm EST
i thought i had heard it all, and in here i guess i have, i’ve heard evrything from eddie is a saint to eddie is washed up. it’s no wonder they are hesitant to get on the road again, nobody really seems to care anyways.and apparently no one in here knows anything about the music business.blame eddie or alex or sammy or dave doesnt matter, record execs dont care unless it makes money….and if theres a way to make a dime on all of this you can bet they will. and no matter how much we the fans love the artist, wether it be van halen poison rush or culture club, we dont determine who stays and who goes, only how we remember them and we the fans give them the respect that they get, all the big record companys only love them while they are hot and selling.but when they fade to new fads or new acts like rap or the seattle music and grunge whatever you want to call it, thats when a true fan shows his true colors, not take every chance to take pot shots at eddie when half of you dont even know what the hell is really going on, just like me. i love van halen. may not agree with the lineups but i still love em, eddie goes to rehab and you like i should do is support him if you are a true fan. if your not be one for whomever you like. dont waste your time trying to take down someone who is unfortunatly already down right now,, eddie if you ever see this do what you do best. rock your balls off and have fun. thats all you owe anyone. if your having fun a true van halen fan will be having fun as well…we as fans need to understand reuniting a band isnt just calling the old lineup and saying lets meet in the garage where it all started. it’s all political now and everybody feels they have to get their piece. the hall of fame show is the only place where they can just jam and not have to have everyones seal of approval, cause that night my friends is all about them and they deserve it. all of them…if you dont like eddie than fine but dont try and take him down for what he has accomplished, look at any top 10 guitar list of all time, and in that top ten time in and time out you will see eddie van halen.wether your a metalhead or or your into britney spears. if you are a guitar player you have been influenced by eddies style, rock music has eddies influence all over it, and thats what legends do they inspire…
rock on eddie
you are a legend.
The Pimp | 3/9/2007, 2:23 pm EST
I wonder who finally was able to convince him into getting help. I have a feeling Dave and Ed’s girlfriend had something to do with it. Because no one will promoter will touch them now not until he can play 2004 was the worst I ever heard him play and he was drinking in past. We need to see them play together again with Mike.
Edward Von Lipshitz | 3/9/2007, 2:22 pm EST
Did you reaaly think there would be a tour. Those VH brothers are fucked up and can’t get along with anyone. There old news anyway.
Lew | 3/9/2007, 2:06 pm EST
Just a thought but who gives a shit? Van Halen was fun when we were kids but we grew up and they got old. It’s time for the looseers who still think these dinosaurs are any good to listen to some new stuff. Move on for Christ sake!

I meant Micheal too..sorry.
toddfl | 3/9/2007, 1:28 pm EST
Travis, I’m glad you glad you like VH III and Cherone is a great singer but common man, his voice was just a little to crisp for the raspy rippen’ rock sound Van Halen had with Sammy and David….do you agree? Cherone sounded great with Extreme’s style I’ll admit. If they could do a time line of VH in the Hall of Fame , David AND Sammy should be in there with VH. Of course with Alex too. I’m rambling..
OUdrank12 | 3/9/2007, 1:24 pm EST
Eddie & Alex need to pull their heads out of their ass and bring back Michael. Wolfgang should start his own band and not ride on the coat tails of drunken daddy. Eddies a train wreck !!!!!
Big Bad Bill/Sweet William | 3/9/2007, 1:18 pm EST
I hope Ed gets better. It’s a shame that a guy with so much talent professionally can’t get his personal shit together. By the way people, VH doesn’t owe you anything. Were you not entertained?
It would be nice to see an orig lineup tour, but it probably won’t happen. Don’t sweat it! Enjoy the old shit and shut up!
Travis | 3/9/2007, 12:48 pm EST
**You guys are way off!! *** Van Halen III is the all time best album. Sammy and David could only hope to measure up to Cherone on vocals. It should be Cherone, Alex, Eddie and Michael at the Rock n Roll hall of fame!
todd | 3/9/2007, 12:09 pm EST
Give Wolfie some slack. In my humble opinion I think VH would still put on a great show. Let the kid rip Mean Street or Unchained to shut his critics up. Man, he was taught by the best. Can you imagine that!!?? Ed and Al’s dad always told them, age has nothing to do with rockin’, either you can play or you can get the hell out! Do you think Eddie may have instilled this in his son!?
The Pimp | 3/9/2007, 11:43 am EST
It is about time Ed tries to clean up last time he went to rehab back in 87 he did not stay he left also that same year left an AA meeting stopped at a bar and got a DUI on his ninja. If all works out next summer they will tour hopefully Ed looks back and relizes what a douche he was and brings Mike back.
TheGoatsucker | 3/9/2007, 10:33 am EST
Outside of a Beatles reunion, which is no longer possible, the only reunion that would pack every stadium across the world would be a VanHalen reunion with Diamond Dave. No one else doing the vocals matters. With Dave, you sell out stadiums, with someone else, you sell out bars. Do the math.

I’ve worshipped VAN HALEN since 1978, and this reunion should be ALEX, DAVE, EDDIE, and MIKE. No offense against Wolfgang, but I wanna see Mike up there with his Jack Daniels Bass, and he has a great voice and he is just a huge part of VAN HALEN, so without him it won’t be a complete reunion!

here is a thought !!! if wolfgang
is such a great musician let him
take Ed’s place on guitar, let
Mike play the bass, let Dave belt
out the vocals, and finally if Alex would have enough backbone
to stand up for what is right, and tell Ed to get his ass some help, get on those drums and rock. I have been a VH fan since
VH I. However I now at at the point where I really don’t care
what the Van Halen brothers do. It seems to me that Dave is really trying to make this thing work, and the only thing that Eddie is doing is letting all the
true VH fans down !!!! AGAIN !!!
The Pimp | 3/8/2007, 4:24 pm EST
I just read an article in the LA times Dave is not showing monday for the rock and roll hof induction. Dave says he will not watch velvet revolver perform Vh songs. So Sam and Mike will be there. Dave also says If Ed ever dries up they will be a stadium act. This is a mess next time im cali im going to ED’s I know where he lives and kick his ass and Alex’s too
john of iowa | 3/8/2007, 2:51 pm EST
I graduated from high school with Vanhalen playing in my car on 8 track tapes and I really need to see a show. This better happen because I will spend what ever the cost would be to see a show that I had missed years ago. Valerie, who was one of my television loves better let Wolfgang at least try to play the shows. Anyways, this will kill me because I had tickets to see led Zepplin in Chicago and Jon Bonim and the show was cancelled.
Dr. Ralph | 3/8/2007, 9:11 am EST
kevfee, you’re right but I think up until the 1984 tour they were a different animal. When Valerie and Ed hooked up the whole chemistry changed. Eddie wanted to play love songs and Dave still wanted to party like a big dog. This more than anything else ushered in the Hagar era with love walks in, if it’s love, blah blah blah… no more love em and leave em ala Jamies cryin’.
trent | 3/7/2007, 6:56 pm EST
just remember that ed is getting older and his playing style and ability will change along with it. i think too many people are still expecting something from eddie van halen and the band VH that they will not be able to fulfill. drugs, alcohol, lazyness it doesnt matter. they are not getting any younger and its not the 80’s anymore.
tkouts | 3/7/2007, 6:12 pm EST
Let’s face the facts. Ed is the heart of VH. The mouth is either DLR or SH. History has shown that none of the mouths can stand alone against VH as a whole.
The bad thing is that, just like any other genius, Ed is a perfectionist. The hunt for perfect ion grows proportionally over the years the same way reputation does. This hunt leads to destruction. Add the booze addiction and there you have it. Ed’s judgment is blurred.
VH and DLR reunion cannot succeed because the “fun” factor is out of the scene….
kevfee | 3/7/2007, 4:33 pm EST
If you didnt see VH by 1981,then you will never really see them. They were young, unspoiled, not to rich and hot as hell. You can never get that energy back .One of the best live bands of all time.
lovato | 3/7/2007, 3:49 pm EST
you know what? van halen is more david and sammy than the actual van halen’s. Regarldless of which singer you like more… And WOLFGANG CAN SURVIVE TOURING!! it’s alot easier than getting up early everyday for school and staying awake. He is YOUNG and is gonna be just having fun every night so whats the big fucking deal? Eddie’s dad would be dissapointed and his mom would call him a nobody-nut, just like he said she used to say in a vh documentary. If eddie wants to not shame his international fan-base for all of history and kill his legacy, he needs to pick up his damn guitar and wait to bitch about shit until the show is over. He has been my idol, the reason i started playing guitar, and lead guitar of the most raw rock and roll band of all time, but i am actually losing my respect for him. He needs to build a franken-coffin, cause he is laying down and quitting…
hot4cheetoes | 3/7/2007, 1:52 pm EST
Its not looking good now as of 3-7-07 sammy hagar has heard thru his managmnent that the brothers eddie and alex van halen will not be attending the rock and roll hall of fame ceremonys where they will be inducted along with the very attending david lee roth, michael anthony and sammy hagar. there you have it.

I feel your pain Rob! I have been waiting to see DLR and EVH on stage together for 23 years!!!

dont know wot i was thinkin changed my mind about the whole thing van halen shud tour this year
James "Hacksaw" | 3/7/2007, 9:56 am EST
I thought atleast they would do a few dates before the EGO kicked in full force. I thought a reunion was when all members get togther? If They want wolfgang in also I suggest let him sit him in a few songs maybe. There would be nothing wrong with that. So lets do the tour so you can make your ego explode….ha…

ROB | 3/6/2007, 10:48 pm EST
I know there are many bigger, more important, or more profound issues that might come to mind when starting a sentence this way, but one of my biggest regrets in life is not having ever seen the original line-up of Van Halen in concert. No joke. That may seem quite petty to some, but I really think I missed out on something special. I mean, I’ve seen Roth solo twice, and Van Halen with that little guy singing once, but it just wasn’t the same. I know Michael Anthony wasn’t going to be on board for this one, but to see and hear ‘the guitar’ and ‘the voice’ back together would have been great. I thought I finally would have gotten a monkey off my back! Guess not, for now.
Last year my wife took me to see Motley Crue for the first time as my Valentine’s day gift. I really appreciated it, but just couldn’t help but think that 2006 was a far cry from 1986. Like the Crue, I know they’re far from their heyday, but I don’t think a VH show would leave me one bit unsettled. Again, monkey gone! Make it happen!!!!
Dr. Ralph | 3/6/2007, 8:25 pm EST
Whoever keeps crying about Sammy (noballs) Hagar being the best frontman needs to check their data. Van Halen is one of only five artists to ever sell more than 10,000,000 copys of two separate albums. VH1 and 1984. Diamond status is what the Recording Industry Association of America calls it. Now you know why they call him Diamond Dave. Hell Van Halen is number nineteen on the alltime greatest selling bands list with 56,500,000 sold. VH, VH2, and 1984 account for half of those alone… get your facts right before you get on the web motherfuckers…
Dr. Ralph | 3/6/2007, 7:24 pm EST
It’s gonna happen… I smell something and it ain’t teen spirit! Eddie and Dave can’t drop the ball on this one or they both know it’s over. From the size of this never ending blog we all need what no one else can give us. We were too young for the Beatles and Stones, we had AC/DC, Aerosmith, Nugent and Kiss and then we had real Rock and Roll… sounds never before heard… guitarists crying and little girls wetting their panties. We had that once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of something new. The insanity of a guitarist who broke all the rules. Whammy bar dives, harmonics, hammer ons, pull offs, playing with the volume knob on the Frankenstrat with his right hand while going crazy with his left… It was like listening to Sgt. Pepper the first time with headphones and a hit of blotter. You stood up and said what the hell is going on here??? Now give me some more… please…
hot4cheetoes | 3/6/2007, 6:38 pm EST
Because they would need to get lawyers involved. a ton of paper signing, insurance and contracts would have to be written up ect.. it costs too much money to be vague with each other, its either there going to do it (and eddie will know for damn sure if he will or not) or its just not gonna happen. you cant sneeze in this industry with out it costing somebody (namely you if your in van halen) a lot of money.
marty | 3/6/2007, 4:33 pm EST
y cant they both just suck it up for the fans, AND PLAY THE CONCERT.
Bob A. | 3/6/2007, 3:05 pm EST
I heard through a very reliable source that the tour will happen, and the reason for the shut down is because Roth has refused to tour with Eddie unless he goes to rehab to get his alcohol problem under control.
mike dabs | 3/6/2007, 8:57 am EST
a vh tour with dave would be awesome but these rich sobs dont care about us the fans take theyre fame and cash then theyre will be a tour of great proportions i aint waiting much longer grow up guys
yiff | 3/6/2007, 12:34 am EST
ed’s an old nuerotic coot from the sound of things and peoples opinions. im sure a lot has gone to his head ego wise. your allowed some but too much breeds arrogance. mix in alcohol for one hell of a ride! hide out on your mansion/recording studio compound and just have cigarettes/booze “smoking loon wine” and food brought in 24/7 along with a little lady luck (hide the press from the prosti’s!) and ego polishing and lifes a breeze and your a god!
bill | 3/5/2007, 10:42 pm EST
I CAN,T TAKE THIS ANYMORE.WITHOUT DAVE IT WILL NEVER BE VAN HALEN AGAIN.DROP THE EGO,S AND LETS ALL HAVE FUN.ED,S DRINKING HAS KILLED THIS BAND.DRINKING IS GREAT BUT HOW MANY YEARS CAN YOU GO BEFORE YOU HIT THE WALL?
wolfgang 5150 | 3/5/2007, 1:24 pm EST
dave is the great old guy, but i think he might just be gay.
Paul Saint J. | 3/5/2007, 1:22 pm EST
I know why they are not going to go on a tour right now. They are going to wait until The Police popularity goes down, their announcement took all the steam out of VH’s. I think they are waiting for the police to get busted, get sent up the river, go to the joint, get put in solitary.
Muscles Marinara | 3/5/2007, 1:14 pm EST
Why did you guys take my comment down?I was just trying to help the gal.
Joe "Potato Salad" Macaroni | 3/5/2007, 1:11 pm EST
Well,is it on or is it off? I need to know, I’ve got alot of planning to do, gotta make the salad for the boys in the “crew”. When do the rehearsals start? When is the 1st date? Is there an opening act? I need to know this stuff, alot depends on all this man! I got to make the salad, make the salad. I haven’t taken my meds today either. Hey Van Halen, please get back together so I can be “normal” again. Signed, J “PS” M.
Muscles Marinara | 3/5/2007, 1:03 pm EST
Tough story there Toula, but don’t you think that Eddie hears those kind of stories 24/7? I could be wrong but you sound kind of obsessed with the guy, I’m sure the guy has compassion for dying people, he wouldn’t be a human being if he didn’t. I’m sure there was a reason he didn’t do what you wanted him to do. Remember, he goes all over the world and hears all kinds of reasons as to why you or someone else should have special treatment. I know, your situation sucks terribly but he has to be careful with whom he deals with, especially people he does not know. Remember John Lennon? This is a crazy world and I don’t blame him. Maybe next time try to work with his management and try to get something going that way, good luck, Muscles!!
Pauly "Bag Of Donuts" | 3/5/2007, 12:50 pm EST
So what’s the story? Get over the petty BS and give the fans what they want, if that is you saying that Mr Ed, remember who got you where you are today, Anyways, it’s Dave we want to see!! HA! Love ya Diamond Dave!!!!
Mike Rafone | 3/5/2007, 12:32 pm EST
The common denominator here is clearly Eddie. The guy is at best an ego maniac and at worst quite literally insane. I also love the idea of putting a 15-y.o. boy on tour with drugs, booze, and a million chicks who want to statutory rape him every night. Oh and can they still play worth a damn…does DLR still have the pipes?? Doubtful. And I am not on my knees sucking M. Anthony but…he IS the key background vocalist to ALL of their hits so without him….the only screw that’s going to fall out around here is you, Eddie.
vegas rocker | 3/5/2007, 7:43 am EST
thinking about how VH would sound WO serious backing vocals and bass played by a kid who’s probably never gigged like this in his life makes it hard to imagine VH in concert as I remember them.
toula fattibene | 3/5/2007, 6:44 am EST
this is for evh, in 2004 i had bought 5 star packgaes to see you in three diffrent states which cost me a fortune but i felt it was worth it until i asked eddie for a kiss and he replyed no. i explained to him i had open heart surgery in 2003of jan. which is my birthday month too. and iwas told by three diffrent doctors i won’t live past 50. two heart valves in my heart burst and now there are two artifical ones there and leaking. the doctors even of the best of them can’t save me i was told. i died 7 times on the table during my surgery and somehow i made it through. now i have to use oxgen to breath for me due to having pulmanry heart pressure and which got worse and now i need to use a walker. i was in a car accident and had a heart attack which caused the accident. a i wittness saw the accident and told me later that the car spun and round twice and flipped over twice and landed upside down now this really took a toll on my heart and lungs and now other problems are starting to accure. my point is that eddie van halen was told all this and i was let down. i’ve been a fan of eddies since i was 16. now i am 45. eddie get this message and please respond back to me. us the postal service to respond sometimes my e-mail doesn’t work. my address 819 anderson hill road. candor , ny 13743. please prove to everybody you have a big heart and feelings for the dying. my last dying wish was to spend a few days and possibly a bass guitar with your authograph. this would make me a extremly happy woman that will die with a smile. belive me it is very hard to take what i have been through and stil be here. i have not funds to travel to see you because my cost for my surgery was 250,000 and i had no health insurance and i still paying for prescriptions until i die. i had to sell my house in long island ny to pay my hospital bill and move upstate n.y. please eddie show the world you still have care for all your fans. this is a small price to pay for life. for life is priceless. just stand in my shoes one day and you shall see what it feels like being told your going to die at my present age. i hate taking 25 pills a day just to keep me alive just for example morphin, vallium and many more . if it was up to me i would throw them all away and leave this earth . i belevie in god and my time is short. i know god will be coming to take me soon. so once again respond asap and please don’t disappoint me and the rest of the world of fans. i have proof of this and it’s not a hoax. trust me who would be sick enough to make up a story like that.i have the proof and belevie me the pain i deal with everyday of my life along with the ticking noise in my head from the heart valves and i could list a mile long but i’ve come to the end of this narrow life road. hope to hear from you soon. still luv you eddie van halen.xxxxooo. i pray you will not let me down again. broken hearted toula.
trent | 3/4/2007, 11:29 pm EST
they’ll be ok at the rrhof. there all gonna be there now sitting at there respective tables. eddies family, sammys, roths, and mikes. being an inducted band it is not unusual to let another band/artist honor you. sometimes later in the evening everybody might end up on stage together thats something that hasnt been unheard of before at the hall of fame. just a cheesy night with no obligations to carry anything fourth. cause i honestly dont believe eddie has it in him anymore (the passion) maybe just for his son and thats about it.
Mike | 3/4/2007, 12:08 pm EST
Axl Rose’s available, & Eddie needs a singer. Match made in heaven, similar personalities!
Dr. Ralph | 3/4/2007, 11:14 am EST
Yeah what’s up with Slash? It’s like he busted this huge nut on “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and then could never get it up again… hey eddie dude pass the viagra! Oh that’s right your manager/girlfriend/publicist is a pornstar. You don’t need no damn viagra!
Eddie | 3/3/2007, 11:55 pm EST
Remeber when the Album “Van Halen”? I hope if the make new songs they’ll be like those with it’s mostly guitar.Keyboards are alright for jump but thats all
The Cop | 3/3/2007, 9:15 pm EST
I know when Ed lies. It begins when he moves his lips. I wouldn’t believe a word about “new” material and records in the works. And, in the event he does have new material, it would likely be as sucky as what he delivered with VHIII. Ed is washed up.
Rebecca | 3/3/2007, 5:44 pm EST
Thanks Headbanger..
someone else who VH deserves as a fan. There aren’t many here!!
Let’s go rock out at VH guys!
EVH rules the planet
HeadBanger | 3/3/2007, 2:59 pm EST
WELL i WENT TO vhnd LAST NIGHT.
AND THEY HAVE LEARNED THAT THE WHOLD BAND WILL BE AT THE RRHF.
AND THEY ALSO HAVE AN INTERVEIW WITH BOTH EDDIE AND ALEX ON THERE.
FROM WHAT THEY SAY THE TOUR IS GOING TO HAPPEN AND THAT THEY HAVE NEW MATERIAL FOR A COUPLE OF NEW ALBUMS,READY TO GO. SO, WE’LL HAVE TO SEE WHATS UP. IT SURE SOUNDS GOOD.
Joe | 3/3/2007, 2:45 pm EST
Guys, FAce it VH is done. Eddie is whacked out be it the cancer or the booze, These tours have all had issues, roth reunions and Hager alike. The only constant in all of these situations is Eddie himself. Put n the first album and rememebr the good times These is no future

Dr. Ralph | 3/2/2007, 4:11 pm EST
391 comments and counting! This motherfucker is alive. One day at a time, Dr. Ralph IS soooo way right. The Wolfmeister grew up in a damn studio tripping over guitars (probably in more ways than one). His dad, uncle, grandad and probably most of the people he has associated with in his life are all professional musicians! Do you really think the boy hasn’t been playing his entire life? Some things just can’t be taught, like the ability to jump or play eruption/spanish fly/tora!tora!tora!/romeo’s delight etc…..
richard | 3/2/2007, 3:56 pm EST
frankly dont care about being called gay i am only 16 but my fave bands r all from the 80’s i especcially like led zeppelin def leppard iron maiden u know bands like that eddie van halen will always be the reason why i took up guitar but sumhow i dont think van halen is even gonna survive anymore ive lost all faith in van halen their the band that got me into rock aswell but i think its over for them lets face it like every other gud band that was at the top off its game in the 80’s van halen are washed up has beens the three things that destroyed good rock nirvana and all the bands becoming sell outs and mtv
David Lee Roth 1984 article | 3/2/2007, 3:28 pm EST
LR: Do you think you really are so established now that the audience will stick with you?
DLR: it’s difficult to tell. Because I know what I do when I like a band or I’m interested in an artist and listen to the record and I really enjoy it and I go and see the show and I love it, and I think about it all the time and every time the record comes on the radio I think about the way they looked on stage and when they’re on a cover of a magazine I buy the magazine and I take it home and read it and that’s great and then they come out with a mediocre album and I say “The hell with you.”
LR: When was the last time that you felt that way with a band?
DLR: With the Stones. I vacillate depending on the artist. If they have a good live show I will always to see the live show, but as for buying the record just because it’s so-and-so, forget it.
LR: So you’re very conscious that the audience is fickle and that you could lose them…
DLR: Absolutely, that’s why I feel no responsibility whatsoever to my fans.
LR: What???
DLR: Why should they feel any towards me? If I make a bum record, if I put out a lousy song, how can I possibly expect them to buy it?
LR: Are your song lyrics always about you?
DLR: Absolutely. All the songs are merely chapters in the world according to Dave. Dave as Dave sees it, Dave as others see Dave, what happened to Dave last night and how Dave feels this morning. You can give them titles, and seemingly change the scenario and the characters, but I don’t even have to look back in retrospect about it - I know it’s all about me and the people that are around me.
LR: How much time do you spend writing the lyrics?
DLR: I write them during the commercials. It took much longer this year, because I was watching cable.
LR: Don’t you think that shows a certain contempt for your audience?
DLR: Not at all, not at all.
