Fall Out Boy is what’s popular now. Rock and Roll really will never be as good as it once was when there were the greats still around like Sound Garden and Pearl Jam, in their prime respectively. Fall Out Boy has extremely good musicians in the band. Luckily we still have really good musicians out there to offset this new idea of generic rock. I’m not really a big Fall Out Boy fan but I guess their okay. Personally I’ve never thought being in a band should be somebody’s fulltime job unless they are just incredibly out of this world good, but hey what do I know.

all the people who think fall out boy is not different than other bands, need to stfu. they obviously only listen to the songs that come on the radio. they are on the radio for a reason. they know that people will like them BECAUSE they are like other songs..

the other songs on their albums are awesome. pay attention. just because you dont have the sense to download a song that doesnt come on the radio doesnt mean you can complain about the ones that do

Mrs.Fall Out Boy | 7/27/2007, 7:43 pm EST

Fall Out Girl | 6/27/2007, 1:22 pm EST

To Mike go ahead say what you want about Fall Out Boy but it wont stop the fans from liking them because the fans think Fall Out Boy Rock!!!!!!!!!

Fall Out Girl | 6/24/2007, 3:44 pm EST

Marina elison I am only a year older than you and I agree and I also have never met Pete ether and I want to see Fall Out Boy but I cant but they do Rock and they don’t deserve to be treated like they don’t.

mike | 6/23/2007, 9:00 pm EST

Here’s a fun fact: FOB suck gigantic balls and will continue to do so until the end of days. I am shocked and appalled to actually witness the the drunken testimonials of 1337 speaking fangirls who claim that effort and heart is poured into music that is so blatantly the opposite. Listen to artists who have talent. Just because you want to elope with the androgynous frontman doesn’t mean a band is anything more than absolute dog shit. modern music sickens me, listen to dream theater, you musically inept MTV drones.

chelsea | 6/23/2007, 6:08 pm EST

Fall Out Boy Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fall Out Girl | 6/23/2007, 6:03 pm EST

What is up with all the negativity? I mean Fall Out Boy did nothing roung and people want to talk negative about them. Fall Out Boy rock but that is just my opinion so if you have to say something negative to say about Fall Out Boy their fans will just keep writting back like this.

marina elison | 6/17/2007, 2:17 pm EST

what the heck steve don’t say that. thats mean you now god pervids us with food water trees and other things you need to hink befor you speek all of the people how say bad thing.

marina elison | 6/17/2007, 1:18 pm EST

I really don’t like the way you guys are talking about pete and the fall out boys. you should realy be nice about what you say. The fall out boys rock all of the people that are in the band rock I really don’t care if you delet what i say but check what pete says first.

Dana | 6/11/2007, 9:18 am EST

Its pretty pathetic that people say they slept with Pete Wentz. I’m friends with him, he has a girlfriend and he’s annoyed by people saying they know him and are friends with him. Cmon people, he’s just a person! Give the man a break! (Dont get me wrong I absolutley love love love Fall Out Boy, and I go to their concerts. This isnt against FOB in the least, its against those who pretend to know people to make others extremely jealous.) See “Totally not Lying” submitted on 2/22/07. Its pretty funny.

Lynn | 5/13/2007, 1:53 pm EST

Everyone hurry up and make fun of Fall out Boy. Maybe R.S. will change the cover just for you! Some people like this type of music. I do and others do. Just shut up complaining is not doing any thing what so ever besides pissing people off.

Kristin | 4/27/2007, 6:45 pm EST

ok two words for Hailz go Fu** yourfelf FOB is one of the best bands out there and Patrick isn’t what you say HOT but he is pretty Cute and Pete is the Most Kindest and Most giving Person you would ever meet in yourlife so Save your Breath No one Probablly likes you anyways and get over yourself.

You guys are fucked up! they are! a good band and Patrick is not fat!God damn it! go ahead and make fun of Pete, he’s getting on my nerves!

God | 3/31/2007, 10:05 pm EST

Who in the hell likes these losers. The band is made up of fat lead singer that has a horrible voice, the gay bassist who has trouble playing the bass because his arms aren’t long enough, the guitar player who can’t play even the easiest riff and only seems able to spin in circles and the loser drummer who plays like an 8 year old. They suck.

me | 3/19/2007, 6:48 pm EST

alright now seriously, all you assholes who dont think fob is a good band, screw you all, maybe if you actually took the time to listen to the music or even stop to think about the lyrics you wouldn’t be saying that. fall out boy is never gonna go anywhere. GET OVER IT!

i luv pete wentz | 3/17/2007, 9:15 am EST

for all the people who hate F.O.B screw You they are awesome not only because of pete but because they rock hard and they put alot of heart and soul into it to make the sngs relate to everyone they try very hard in making the words go with the melody and they care very much about their fans i live, breathe, eat, and sleep fall out boy and i think that they will go very far in their music i know i will love them 4-ever.by the way pete wentz is soooooo…SEXY!

Mr. Reality | 3/16/2007, 4:37 pm EST

It’s funny how all the positive comments seem to be from girls and they somehow think those of us with musical taste should just shut our mouths.

Fall-out boy sucks. The lead singer is a joke with his stupid hat toupee (he’s bald dammit and not fooling anyone), along with his stupid Jr. High-ish peachfuzz sideburns.

Don’t get me started on Pretty-boy Pete.

Their music sucks. They’re a typical three-year MTV band. In three years they’ll already be a bunch of has-beens.

somalyxx | 3/14/2007, 6:01 am EST

the best thing about Fall Out Boy is that it reminds me of when i was thirteen years old and wrote lyrics that sound not only similar, but display the same feelings that i matured from over age. i do not have the same feces coming out of me everyday, but why do the majority of popular musicians have the same shit meaning songs coming out of them? oh that’s right, the teenagers and younger twenties. they like that drama style writing. now go on, disagree, that’s why you like this music. it supplies what you need to support unthoughts. now, the best thing to do is contradict me through defensive action. try mentioning my font, or perhaps insecure asumptions on my behalf. oh, and don’t forget that i don’t understand them and you do. yes, you kings will always supply a greater answer and never accept opinion as an opinion. you love what you love, until the next one hit wonder gives you a one night stand.

Matt | 3/14/2007, 1:47 am EST

What amuses me about this whole situation is how everyone keeps talking about how hard they work. Bullshit. Recording an album of songs you came up with is not hard work. Even if it were, they “worked hard” to make songs with “funny” long titles, elementary chord progressions, and horribly cliche lyrics.

Put simply, they worked really hard and still put out a piece of shit. Just for grins, they should go into a studio and try to record some songs that aren’t directly derivative of a band that’s already featured on “Where are they now?”

Another thing. Fall Out Boy does not love you. They don’t know who you are. They couldn’t give a shit less about you, just so long as you buy their albums/concert tickets. I’m pretty sure that damn near any band that had the backing of a major-label marketing push would sell a shitpile of albums too. That doesn’t make them a good band, it just means the record execs have found their next cash cow and will milk it dry.

Next, a promise to the retard with delusions of grandeur. If Fall Out Boy sell out a goddamn stadium I will buy a ticket, climb to the very top of the venue, and jump right the fuck off, because life won’t be worth living anymore. Fall Out Boy will not be back, they will peter out, their bassist will attempt a side project that will go nowhere, and you’ll be seeing that Middle Eastern guy from VH1 trying to talk them into getting back together for one last show. I promise.

Heather Is Mrs. Wentz, Ok? | 3/13/2007, 5:12 pm EST

For all of those People who say that fall out boy sucks, and think that they have the only opinion in the world, they need to stfu, ok? fall out boy is the best, and not just because of pete, but because of their music.(even though i do love pete!) If you think they are bad, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!!

Rocker_Girl! | 3/11/2007, 6:19 pm EST

Oh, and that interview rocked and so does Infinity On High and the other 4 albums they’ve made! Fob’s Pete Wentz is also bullet-proof against haters, so who are you talking to?

Nice voice Patrick!!!
And I love evryone else in the band too!

jewels | 3/8/2007, 9:24 pm EST

why does everyone love pete so much? i think patrick is one hot guy. love em! their new cd kicked ass

Pianos | 3/5/2007, 7:24 pm EST

The cover looks like Pete is just being Pete - doing something different than everyone else. But he does look good with or without a shirt. XD

Does anyone know if this issue and the new SPIN magazine (also w/ FOB) are in Wal-Mart? I need to get them before they take them off the shelves…

fobfan4life | 3/2/2007, 9:07 pm EST

I LOVE FALL OUT BOY SO MUCH THEIR NEW CD ROCKS PETE IS SO HOT

Sabrina [MPW] | 3/1/2007, 12:09 pm EST

raWr! People need to shut up. Fall Out Boy owns your face..and you know it..so shut it.

Second of all..There is MORE tO Fall Out Boy then just Pete.

I hate hearing Peopole say “The only reason FOB is good is cuz of Pete” cuz thats not true.

Pete’s looks shouldnt get FOB where they are today…those people should listen to thier music..and not just look at pete..

That just ticks me off..

Pete Wentz isnt Fall Out Boy..

Fall Out Boy is Joe Trohman, Patrick Stump[h], Andy Hurley, and Pete Wentz

Fall Out Boy would be nothing without each member. Pete is a very good writer, yes, dont get me wrong. But Im just saying..Fall Out Boy wouldnt be where they are without the other members of the band

This also goes for ever other freaking band in the freaking world..

Ok my point is..

dont just listen to a band bcuz you like the lead singer is hot..

thats a lame reason..like a band bcuz they have great music..

anyways

I live, eat and breath Fall Out Boy..so dont talk smack or Ill kick your ass..sound good?

Pianos | 2/26/2007, 5:20 pm EST

Blue Eyes Breaks Lives,

That was an amazing post! I loved the last sentence: “Anyway, ppl will always think what they want, but FOB will always save the day.”
FOB saves my day everyday, especially a day like today when my world seems to be caving in on itself.

Fall Out Boy is one of the most talented bands I’ve ever heard. I am always greatful for their music, which keeps me from going insane.
Much love to the boys FOB!

Blue Eyes Breaks Lives | 2/25/2007, 11:02 pm EST

FOB, no matter what class of music ppl put them in, are in a subject all their own. I think some concentrate to much on whether they’re emo, pop-punk, or whatever else they use to categorize them. I have one that I’ve made up, intelligent rock, can’t that be a type of music? That is why I love FOB so much, past the glitz and the so called glamor of their blow out fame, they are still the most thought provoking band I have ever listened to. Plus, more and more of their songs are starting to sound different. How rare is that? I’m the kind of person who stops listening to a group if they just decide to cookie cut their music instead of really doing what they want to do, just so they’ll immediately see more records. I think that is selling out, and what FOB is doing is staying true to themselves and expanding to break up the monotony. Kudos for you guys, you have a fan for life. Oh, and yes, I do have every song you’ve ever covered or written or have featured in. Sick, I know, but there’s just not enough to go around yet. *Sigh*
Anyway, ppl will always think what they want, but FOB will always save the day.

harlequin girl | 2/25/2007, 8:57 pm EST

FOB rocks!! for all of u who’s dissin they then u know what! gr… woot fallout boy! ily pete!

Amanda | 2/25/2007, 5:07 pm EST

i really think that rolling stone magazine is improving and I think that they should keep doing more modern bands and artists from now on to get a different audience of people. And btw fall out boy has fought alot to get where they are now so if you’re gona come on this site and bitch about how much you hate them then get the hell off this site because everyone is different and we don’t all love the sames things

Morgan | 2/25/2007, 12:35 pm EST

If you don’t like Fall Out Boy then don’t comment. You are wasting your time, fans won’t stop being dedicated to them and the cover is not going to change. Yes, some of their records are sold to fucktarded hormone crazed little kids, but that is not Fall Out Boy’s fault, some people do actually like them for the music. Just because you don’t like Fall Out Boy doesn’t mean they aren’t a good band. And yes, it is true that old bands don’t get much credit, but when they were new they probably did. Twenty years from now Fall Out Boy won’t be on the cover, they are on now because they are a very popular band and they just relaesed a new CD and are about to go on tour. Your opinion is not the only opinion in the world and not all people care what your opinion is. So here’s a thought: stop getting mad at Fall Out Boy and people that like Fall Out Boy and get mad at Rolling Stone. Fall Out Boy didn’t just put themselves on the cover (except by being a great, hardworking, sincere band).

Chitown | 2/25/2007, 2:05 am EST

Fallout Boy = Embaressment.
They’re not even from Chicago. RS needs a fact checker. and I need a job- so hook it up.

C.Nneka | 2/25/2007, 12:27 am EST

These posts are to funny for words, seriously. What people need to realize is that Fall Out Boy is big right now. The have a fan base that loves them and believe me not all of them are 13 year old girls or “teeny boppers” as you put it (honestly you call yourselves intelligent and you insist on using that stereotype). Fall Out has an album and so far it’s being recieved with open arms. Do I think Rolling Stones could use a little change in their cover line-up? Yes, but I kind of think Fall Out Boy deserves this cover. It seems like they tour non stop and for that their fans remain loyal. As far as I’m concerned Fall Out Boy doesn’t make bad music, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Also, I have never considered “emo” as a genre of music.

Pianos | 2/24/2007, 10:53 pm EST

Whoa, Pete&moo, go to anger management classes or something.
I think Pete is hot too - don’t get me wrong - but I don’t like FOB just because of him. Give Joe, Andy, and Patrick some credit.

Pete&moo | 2/24/2007, 11:22 am EST

Hey
u guys r real jerks just b/c people talk about how HOT pete is , and he is!, doesn’t mean u say ” he is not the only person in the band” that is what makes me super-mad GET A LIFE, DEAL WITH IT!!

Pianos | 2/23/2007, 8:46 pm EST

Why is everyone still talking about P!atD? This is Fall Out Boy’s cover, at least talk about them instead of comparing them with their protégé’s

Hyeon,
I agree with you. There are four people in FOB, not just Pete.

Emily | 2/23/2007, 8:17 pm EST

Okay, I have to say… I like Panic! at the Disco. Keep that in mind. HOWEVER, they have sold out, they’re one hit wonders trying to prolong their fifteen minutes. They may be nice guys, but I really don’t care. They’re getting old. They did not deserve their cover. At all. And that is coming from someone who likes them.
Now, Fall Out Boy, on the other hand… I personally believe they deserve this. At the very least, they deserve it more than Panic!. Fall Out Boy is a better band than Panic!. They have four full length albums out, all filled with brilliant music, yet no one even knows about the first two. These guys have worked hard since 2000, trying to make music that they can be proud of. They deserved all the acclaim they got with FUCT, even if it was over the top, while Panic!… didn’t. FOB deserves their cover, they’ve deserved a cover since 2002 with the release of Evening Out With Your Girlfriend. It’s a shame Panic! got it first, because they didn’t deserve it at all. Fall Out Boy does.
So please, don’t think about how much you hate their band. Don’t think about how horrid their music is. Think of how hard these guys have worked to make it here, and how much they truly deserve it.

Steph | 2/23/2007, 7:50 pm EST

If you slept with Pete why would you be telling us here on line?

did you get to meet Patrick

Pianos | 2/22/2007, 4:47 pm EST

Oh, how I love Rolling Stone!

I’m a new-ish fan of Fall Out Boy but I’ve quickly fallen in love with their music. I feel happier when I listen to them. The lyrics are amazing, “The road outside my house is paved with good intentions/hire a construction crew, cause it’s Hell on the engine.” it makes me think about things in a different way - like life for instance.

Besides being great musicians, I like who they are when they are in interviews. I know that sounds weird, but hear me out. In FOB’s interviews, you get a glimpse at their personalities and how real and down-to-earth they are (or seem to be, since I don’t know them personally). Andy, Patrick, Pete, and Joe seem like real sweethearts that care about their music and fans.
They aren’t trying to be mainstream, they’ve just become it without trying.
They aren’t pretty boys, they just happen to have looks and, unfortunately, legions of fake fans that are only fans because Pete is hot.

And like other people have said: They aren’t “emo” they are alternative rock. Quit trying to make Fall Out Boy into something it’s not just because you want to have something to bitch about.

totally not lying | 2/22/2007, 4:46 pm EST

I slept with Pete Wentz, haha

Debbie | 2/22/2007, 4:19 pm EST

FOB Rocks. Im a 47 year old woman. I heard my kid singin their songs and fell in love. They just make me feel good. I listen to them in the car with it crancked up loud. And I have always loved Rolling Staone Mag. So Im in Heaven. Thanks to the everyone who made this possible. :)

All you haters can shut your mouths.

Ok, I get that Fall Out Boy isn’t to everyones taste, but obviously if they made the cover of RollingStone someone higher up thinks having them there will sell. I personally love the band, and their music…as do the stadiums full of fans at the concerts I have attended. But seriously if you have nothing better to do than sit at your computer complaining about FOB maybe you should go to myspace or something and find some fake-friends who agree and care about your opinion, b/c sitting here whinning about how much you hate the band to people that are fans is getting you nowhere!

Everyone has different tastes in music.
Just learn to accept it and you’ll be a far happier person.
It’s time to stop slagging off strangers in forums and listen to some music - of whatever genre you love the most.

Kat | 2/21/2007, 11:38 pm EST

People need to stop judging Fall Out Boy by the publicity and radio broadcasts and learn what the band is really all about.
First of all, Fall Out Boy is not “emo.” It’s called alternative rock.
Also, it was an awesome band even before all the hype. So what if they appeal to mass audience? Those people have good taste, if I do say so myself.
Fall Out Boy deserves this cover and do not deserve your rude comments. They’re well aware of the fact that there are better bands that deserve it more, and they know that older, more skilled bands deserve respect. But this is today, people. Classic Rock is CLASSIC Rock for a reason. Get it through your skulls.

ok? 2day is february 21rst and i bought the magazine 2day… why is that?

Stacey | 2/21/2007, 9:11 pm EST

to everyone who takes the time out of their pathetic lives to insult people about 1000x as talented as they will ever be– do some goddamn research. don’t judge fall out boy by one song. whether or not you like their music, they are TALENTED and that is undeniable.

Jil. | 2/21/2007, 8:11 pm EST

i think it’s funny that people talk about panic!atthedisco on here too.

me | 2/21/2007, 7:22 pm EST

SERIOUSLY MCR DESERVES A COVER THEIR ALBUM IS INCREDIBLE AND THEIR TOUR IS STARTING THIS WEEK!!!

Me | 2/21/2007, 6:35 pm EST

I think this is really funny actually. They’re popular. Rolling Stone may report on them every ten minutes but they are one of the biggest bands today. There are a ton of bands that deserve to be on the cover but this is who Rolling Stone chose. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. End your subscription. Bad for them but good for you. Don’t like it don’t read it, ok?

JBond | 2/21/2007, 6:20 pm EST

My Take:
Old people like bland music. All the music elitists and purists talking shit about RS putting Fall Out Boy on the cover… that kind of unappreciative malice only comes to you after you have hit thirty or so… Rolling Stone is just protecting their future by pulling in a younger crowd because they know soon most of you that have been “readers for years” will be plauged with bifocals and dementia… rednering you useless to their cause. So on behalf of everyone not in the AARP: Sorry we like music with hooks and catchy melodies, maybe someday we’ll grow old and listen to abstract artsy music. But untill then keep trying to hold on to your Sonic Youth… and if all else fails start reading Readers Digest or something.

Rock on Fob, P!atd and all the other bands appreciated or despeised for all the wrong reasons.

>=| | 2/21/2007, 6:06 pm EST

I know right get to it already.

Austin | 2/21/2007, 6:02 pm EST

I was really mad at Rolling Stone last year for not including any young rock artists on their cover. But had I known they were going to have Panic!, John Mayer, and Fall out Boy grace the cover before March, I would have embraced the typical Dylan and Nicholson covers we saw last year a little more. Anyway, here are REALISTIC artists that could be on the cover of RS and sell almost as many copies (in some cases more), however adding much more credibility to the magazine…

Arcade Fire
The Shins
Bloc Party
The Killers
Modest Mouse
Franz Ferdinand
Sufjan Stevens
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Bright Eyes
My Morning Jacket
Gnarls Barkley

I’m not even too high on a few of these bands, but they’re highly popular and (mostly) credible. I don’t want to be a jerk about it, but c’mon RS, you guys are better than this.

??????? | 2/21/2007, 5:48 pm EST

wheres the video an dthe cover picture

Tom | 2/21/2007, 5:00 pm EST

Is this Rolling Stone or
Tiger Beat(if it still exists), C’mon ROlling Stone, you have become everything you never wanted to be. As for fall out boy I am not saying they suck there just another pop act, nothing ground breaking about them. But I just dont care for them, and think that a mag with this much history should put more effort in finding bands that are doing somthing different, like Arcade Fire ect, Than some generic EMO band.

Frank | 2/21/2007, 4:45 pm EST

“yes! I’m so excited! Thank you Rolling Stone! Amazing. Everyone put down the hateorade”

Jen, I hope you got your moms permission before you posted.

Joey | 2/21/2007, 4:34 pm EST

Sorry i meant to say that people say that we SHOULDN’T be dissing FOB

spencer | 2/21/2007, 4:32 pm EST

And if Pete Wentz is a bass virtuoso, Meg White is John Bonham. Come on. The Police, Rage, Van Halen. All better choices for the cover than fuckin Fall Out Boy.

Joey | 2/21/2007, 4:30 pm EST

everyone says that people should dissing Fall Out Boy because they only hate them because the band is popular. Thats bullshit. I love Metallica, U2, Ozzy, Tool, Incubus, and System of a Down, and all of them are are extremly popular and successful. For me, at least, the problem with Fall Out Boy is that they write crappy, cliched music that designed to sell only to kids who want to be cool.

falloutguy | 2/21/2007, 4:18 pm EST

finally!

Haha | 2/21/2007, 4:17 pm EST

i thought that this was a misprint because i could have sworn that fall out boy had already been on the cover this year…seriously, i’m not joking…it took me ten minutes to realize that panic at the disco is the band that i thought fall out boy was…see, now that’s sad…i’m about to cancel my subscription

nick | 2/21/2007, 3:41 pm EST

Punk has died of emo

T | 2/21/2007, 3:31 pm EST

Honestly, I have to sort of agree with what DEJC has said previously. I love Fall Out Boy, from their earliest work and I also love their new album as well. I mean, I wont sit here and lie and say they are the greatest band EVER. But they are smart and their music is great to listen to, with interesting lyrics. What does annoy me about Fall Out Boy however is the fact that Pete Wentz does seem to get all the credit. I won’t blame this on Wentz himself, I know he steps up as the front man for the band because the others are pretty shy about that kind of stuff…but Patrick Stump I feel is the real genius of the group. Wentz may come up with biting lyrics…but Stump is coming up with the amazing melodies that make these songs as catchy and interesting as they are.
Stump needs to receive more credit for what he does, not that Wentz doesnt credit him as being a genius in any of this interviews…but the RS review of the album was all about the Wentz factor.

thats my piece anyway. I feel that RS should have maybe waited for a little later of an issue to have FOB on the cover, considering Panic! was just on there..but i guess with their new album they found it approriate. whatevs.

DEJC | 2/21/2007, 2:38 pm EST

It doesnt matter what anybody says,FOB deserves their cover. they are the biggest band around right now.and im not really a FOB fan. plus its not like the cover means as much is it use to anyway. once they put linsay lohan on here that was it for me. i just dont understand why FOB and Panic can get a cover but MCR and the killers cant.love them or hate them atleast they’re trying to do somthing alittle different and evolove as bands. where as FOB are doing the same old thing that made them big.plus they give all the credit to pete when everyone knows that its patrick that makes that band what it is.

MMW | 2/21/2007, 1:56 pm EST

Slim Harpo is right, MMJ needs to be on the cover. They are without a doubt the most talented and best band of the past 7 years. These guys have limitless potential, and the music they make is alot more important and beautiful than this mass marketed fall out boy stuff.

Niko | 2/21/2007, 1:55 pm EST

I already saw the light saber photos at perezhilton.com so ha!

4thHorseman | 2/21/2007, 1:34 pm EST

Well all the people defending them are teenage girls, just like when Panic was announced as the cover.

Great, happy for you and them, but don’t try to pass this off as serious and/or important music.

High School Musical was also the number one selling album last year I believe, that doesn’t make it any less shitty, sorry folks album sales good music.

slim harpo | 2/21/2007, 1:24 pm EST

RS should seriously consider putting My Morning Jacket on the cover. Now there’s a 2000s band that is really laying it down. These Fall Out kids are flash in the pan amateurs. Jim James, meanwhile, is a genius.

Cooter | 2/21/2007, 1:13 pm EST

Eye liner is cool.

Matt | 2/21/2007, 1:09 pm EST

Nowadays it seems like the only time someone truely great makes the cover of RS is when they die.

Shame, really, but they are out to sell magazines.

Joey | 2/21/2007, 1:00 pm EST

Let me get this straight - Ozzfest is free this year, Rage Against The Machine are getting back together, the Smashing Pumpkins are getting back together, the Police are getting back together and what does rolling stone put on the cover - Fall Out Boy. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats | 2/21/2007, 11:03 am EST

Congrats to FOB. You guys have worked really hard to overcome the boy-band stigma that N-Sync and Backstreet Boys planted on the genre a decade back. Realizing that a more covert, insidious form of crap teenager music was needed to overcome that stigma - one in which manufactured, horribly written, hook ladden, hormone driven pop music was so quickly outed and ostracized even by the youngsters - was genius on your part. Keep up the mediocre (and I mean that in the best way possible) music!

"hater" | 2/21/2007, 10:52 am EST

I posted this yesterday, and it seems that, from most of the FOB fan posts, that they didn’t scroll down far enough to see this, so I’ll post it again. Oh, and thanks for proving my point, now go buy some new eyeliner.

(Disclaimer: This is a sarcastic post intended to pre-empt all further posts by FOB fans. RS, please attempt to get your soul back from the crap-music level of hell that you left it in.)

I like, totally love Pete and all the Fall Out Boys, but especially Pete, he’s so cute, and the words in their songs made me not want to commit suicide and I’m goin to marry Pete, and they’re, like, the best band ever because they’re so succesful and have done so much more than anyone who’s a “hater” on this message board. Like, I’d like to see you people sell a ton of albums and you’re probably just jealous cause you’re ugly and Pete’s so hot. Dope.

Why do you haters waste your time on this message board? Cause you’re all losers prolly. !!!!!! Ahhhh!!!! I love FOB!!!!!AHHAAAHH!!! puberty!!!!!

Nothing surprises me. I think FOB is better than Panic however. RS recently wrote something that mentioned FOBs expressing their thoughts on being eclipsed by Panic since they discovered them. That was surprising because RS is the only one that thinks Panic eclipses anything.

Anyway, I’m not surprised by the cover, I thought it would follow right behind the Panic one, but instead they did the whole Guitar God think with John Mayer….come on…is any one really surpised by what RS does any more? Better yet….do you really care?

Evan | 2/20/2007, 11:48 pm EST

“you guys seriously are vomit-worthy. let’s see you guys get off your asses and make music.”

Uh, I don’t want to sound pompous, or anything.. but I could do a jugband cover of “John I’m Only Dancing” and sound better than Fall Out Boy.

matt | 2/20/2007, 11:39 pm EST

Come on Rollingstone. To make up for this, Nine Inch Nails better have an upcoming cover story.

Fucking Lord!

Ppl are like stop whining stop being jealous but obviously you guys arent fucking subscribed to Rolling Stone. I was just about to kill myself. Panic!!!!! and now Fall Out…Guy….
Its beyond gay honestly im absolutely not a emo-basher but when you think that you could see the Raconteurs, Gnarls Barkley, the Dixie Chicks, Mary J, Wilco, Peeping Tom or even Sonic Youth! But no, it has to be teeny-bopper sensation to sell more… If at least it wasnt so obvious that its a blink 182/Green Day rip off (and theyre ripping off bands that ripped off others)

ljs with love... | 2/20/2007, 10:44 pm EST

seriously rolling stone, i understand having to appeal to teeny-boppers every once in a while to sell your rag, but honestly–you are alienating the people who read your mag and like good music. that is, if there are any left…

and honestly, all you fall out boy/panic! fucktards save your breath–both bands really do suck make shitty music. it’s a proven fact.

Jess | 2/20/2007, 10:42 pm EST

Fall Out Boy such an awsome band.. congrats to them

Jeez. I’m really happy that they are on the cover.
And no, Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco have REAL fans, not just giddy teenagers. That kind is called ‘t33ni3′. But please, take some time to enter as a guest on the Fall Out Boy boards, lurk a few threads and you’ll see how dedicated we are. The band is loyal to their fans and we are loyal to them. End of story, now move on with your non-music-appriciative lives.

someone who likes fall out boy | 2/20/2007, 10:23 pm EST

Okay, I respect other people’s opinions and all but bitching about it won’t make rolling stone not put them on the cover.

Its not the end of the world.
Besides its only for one issue.

they obviously have worked hard.
and whos album is #1 in the country right now?

yeah.
:|

Ken | 2/20/2007, 10:09 pm EST

Just because a band is popular, doesn’t mean they are good. Jimi Hendrix never had a #1 hit song, he only had one song in the top 10 ever. He shaped music. The only thing FOB shaped was Dyed black hair with bleach tips, black fingernails, crying, acting like a b**ch, and having every song sound the same.

Sarah | 2/20/2007, 9:44 pm EST

everyone, stop your petty whining and get over the fact that Fall Out Boy is on the cover. my god.

amy | 2/20/2007, 9:40 pm EST

amazing. im in love.

dersh | 2/20/2007, 9:08 pm EST

im only 16 years old and I already know that teenagers have gone into depravity by listening to this “music”

It makes me sick to my stomach that Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco are popular and their fans are just a buch of giddy teenagers who are too lazy to spell out words so they embrace abbreviations like FOB of P!ATD.
emo is the worst music since bubblegum music in the 1960s. im ashamed of my generation for thinking its cool to be sad. thats a little blunt for a statement but you get the point.

Sarah | 2/20/2007, 8:43 pm EST

you guys are just jealous, get over yourselves! stop wasting your breathe to post nasty comments on the greatest band ever, and just because you hate them doesnt mean everyone is goign to follow you and hate them just becuase you hate them you guy are so pathetic

A.J. | 2/20/2007, 8:43 pm EST

everybody who is saying that people criticizing fob and others should hold their tounges are missing an essential point. i readily admit that even though i see no appeal in their music, they are producing stuff better than i ever could and are certainly selling albums. therefore, even though i dont think their work warrants accolades, im in no position to deny them. i would have no problem seeing bands like fall out boy, panic at the disco, and others on magazines like blender or spin. but rolling stone is not those magazines. rolling stone is the magazine that brought us lester bangs, hunter s. thompson, and countless others. while i understand that the magazine must sell issues by putting less critically acclaimed but more commercially successful artists on their cover, i think that it should be more balanced by letting other, more deserving, artists experince the “thrill that will get ya, when you get your picture on the cover of the rolling stone.”

WOW | 2/20/2007, 8:32 pm EST

I hope they die in a car that’s on fire that they can’t get out of. END OF THREAD.

Emma Gabor | 2/20/2007, 8:22 pm EST

It’s called using a search, you dip.

Emma Gabor | 2/20/2007, 8:18 pm EST

Alright, I have to say this. I have been waiting for awhile.

I’m kind of tired of people saying stuff like, “they’re talentless” & “they’re just sellouts” & stuff like that. Okay, yeah, they’re popular. So, what? Alot of bands are popular, & you probably treat them close to the same way.
I’m tired of people putting down a band that puts in effort. No, they’re not “fake” or whatever. They actually TRY, & they MAKE the music. They work hard at what they do, & this is the respect they recieve? What’s that?
I’d like to see some of you go out & create an album, that, [by the way] is at the top of the billboard charts, being #1.
And you say no one likes them?

I give these boys credit for how hard they have worked. If you go back into their history, you can see how hard they worked to get where they’re at right now. This is any musicians dream. God, I was wish I was were they were now. Maybe I will in the future. I hope; But not all dreams come true. But these boys’ did. & I’m proud of them, & what they did. Keep it up, Patrick, Peter, Andy, Joe. I love you guys.

Stupidity | 2/20/2007, 8:18 pm EST

Contrary to the title, I’m not going to make fun of Fall Out Boy. I’d just like to say everyone making comments about how much they hate Fall Out Boy, and how they shouldn’t be on the cover look like the real idiots. You obviously have nothing better to do than post nasty comments on this. You are the true losers, and I’d like to see you put together a good song, or album, maybe try 4 of them.

Alyssa | 2/20/2007, 8:15 pm EST

You guys all leave horrible comments.

Negativity will get you nowhere.

Brian | 2/20/2007, 8:06 pm EST

my thing is, Fall Out Boy is popular regardless of whether they’re on the cover of Rolling Stone. Rolling Stone is popular regardless of whether they’ve got Fall Out Boy on the cover.

So why not give some face time to less popular acts that your magazine loves? I’m talking Ghostface Killah, or The Hold Steady, for two examples. I don’t know that I’d go so far as to say it’s journalistic responsibility, but c’mon. Rolling Stone helped contribute to the growth of rock, and right now all they’re doing is maintaining the status quo. It’s disappointing and frustrating, knowing there’s good music out there that nobody knows about. Nobody knows about them because nobody wants to put them on newstands.

(Same reason music on the radio stays stagnant — everyone wants to stick with what’s popular, but if you don’t grow and progress, you’re bound to die a slow death).

ehh | 2/20/2007, 7:52 pm EST

Fall Out Boy may be the current “trend”, and people may like them, and that’s great.
But just because they are “in” they don’t need to be getting the credit of being a good, or should I say talented band. There are so many other bands out there just like them. There are more worthy bands to be on the cover.
But I know people will buy this magazine, as will I, but I can say right now I already know one article I will be skipping over.

Brian | 2/20/2007, 7:46 pm EST

these guys suck. they get by on image alone. they have no musical talent what so ever and can’t write for shit. give me one prolific lyric they’ve said or one amazing thing musically that they’ve accomplished. Like all emo bands the list has nothing on it. no way do they deserve the cover. this is sad. fall out boy and panic suck hard. i can’t even begin to fathom why people like this shit and don’t say good music because this is not good music. tasteless bitches. why don’t you go purify yourselves in the waters of lake minnatonga…listen to prince

Penis | 2/20/2007, 7:10 pm EST

It is pretty sad that so many people post here complaining about Fall Out Boy. Just like any other musical artist out there, they make music to reach a certain fanbase. If you aren’t apart of that, get over it.

Get over it douchebags | 2/20/2007, 7:06 pm EST

Hey, how about you guys get your panties out of a bunch, take some midol, and get your tampons out so you can quit complaining like the bitches you are. You guys complain and sound more depressed than the “emos” you hate. “Waaaaaa, Fall Out Boy is on the cover, waaaaaaa!” Ever stop to think that they have a new album out and they’re the biggest band on the planet?

Just because these guys are a trillion times more successful than you will ever be, doesn’t mean they suck. What’s your justification? Because they’re popular their music sucks? Wow, people like me sick. God kills a puppy everytime an ignorant prick like you guys post.

SHUT THE FUCK UP or try to say something intelligent on the subject of why the “suck”

A.J. | 2/20/2007, 7:03 pm EST

ugh……
and to the guy who said we are no longer living in the age of dylan, id argue that not only did dylan put out the best album of the year last year but that we will still be in the age of dylan generations after the man’s death, which hopefully will be many many many years down the road.
not getting dylan’s music is understandable, but dismissing it outright shows unbelievable musical ignorance

Matt | 2/20/2007, 7:01 pm EST

Good work “Fall Out Boy Is Love”. You just proved most of these people’s points with that comment. Hopefully someday soon they will put somebody worthy on the cover. Until then, we can look forward to incoherent rambling about how cute the lead singer of the band is instead of discussing the quality of the music.

Katie | 2/20/2007, 6:55 pm EST

pretty ironic that Pete just said in the last issue how hed love to be on the cover, like Panic. and now he is. hm.

Fall Out Boy is love | 2/20/2007, 6:52 pm EST

You know what, maybe if you actually listened to them you might understand the love, yes I love fob, but hey if you don’t why do you care so much? Thats why there is different types of music, okay so you don’t like fob or P!ATD, yes I think ur crazy but why are you putting your time and energy into hating a band just because you don’t love their music, this whole “I hate u if u love P! and fob” thing is total B.S.! I personally can’t stand 50 cent or Nelly but I don’t hate someone just because they love them. But now im done preaching, PETE WENTZ IS ONE OF THE HOTTEST GUYS WHO EVER LIVED, but BRENDON URIE (P!ATD) IS THE HOTTEST, Hawthorne Heights is NOT dead! and this is FALL OUT BOY’S 4 full-lenght record thank you very much!and PETE WENTZ doesn’t act like a girl, EMO IS GOOD!!!!!

Evan | 2/20/2007, 6:19 pm EST

I’m so ashamed of you, Rolling Stone. Fall Out Boy is what you used to hate. It’s what you used to fight against.

You know what band REALLY deserves to be on your cover instead of Fallout Boy? I’ll give you a hint. Their second album comes out March 6th and it’s light years better than anything Fallout Boy could make.

Answer? Arcade Fire.

If you like them it’s because you’re an idiot who probably jerks the chain to pictures of abercrombie models. pete wentz is no virtuoso by the way, virtuoso bass players don’t use a pick and strum. My balls play better bass than him. These guys are the flavor of the week. At least their last album had two ok singles, this new album is horrible.

Chris | 2/20/2007, 5:43 pm EST

Whatever. These guys are talentless clowns. Get The Police on the cover and get some respect back!

Jake | 2/20/2007, 5:42 pm EST

Whoever is “hey joe” is a fucking idiot. The new Fall Out Boy album just debuted at #1 on the album charts with almost 400,000 copies in its first week. And you say it’s not popular. Dumbass.

As for the cover, as someone who isn’t even a fan of Fall Out Boy, I can’t say there’s anything wrong with this. They’re better than P!ATD, that’s for fucking sure, and I would rather see this band on the cover than assholes like Young Jeezy and Chamillionaire any day. Why weren’t you all complaining when N’SYNC was on the cover? I would say that this music is quite a bit better.

brain | 2/20/2007, 5:40 pm EST

Van Halen just reunited for fucks sake. I know theyre not young and “hip”. There were just influential and somewhat legendary in the rock world. Rage against the machine is reunited and audioslave broke up. There has got to be an articles worth of material there. Fallout boy will be third eye blind or semisonic in five years.

B | 2/20/2007, 5:32 pm EST

lame

I hate Mike Anthony | 2/20/2007, 5:31 pm EST

Fuck this, it’s getting boring…let’s talk about Maroon 5’s new album

hey joe | 2/20/2007, 5:29 pm EST

What do you know, their second album isn’t popular. No one will remember fob by next year, they are going down the same road that hawthorn heights went down, bothare crappy emo bands and both will be forgotten.

I hate Mike Anthony | 2/20/2007, 5:29 pm EST

Fall Out Boy is the greatest band to ever grace this Earth. You all should bow to bass virtuoso Pete Wentz’s genius…..

Chris | 2/20/2007, 5:23 pm EST

Great choice-took long enough. FOB is a great band and deserve the credit.

Wayne | 2/20/2007, 5:14 pm EST

Yeah, GET OVER IT. We are bored crazy reading the same thing over and over. That’s sort of the point. Their popularity justifies the coverage, but trust me, there will nothing in this story that hasn’t been posted day in and day out over and over on this blog and in each issue of that magazine over and over and over and over again. I’m not sure anyone expects Led Zep or Dylan on the cover. But Dixie Chicks, Arcade Fire, The Shins, etc. might be nice, too. I don’t hear from them every five minutes.

Jen | 2/20/2007, 5:11 pm EST

yes! I’m so excited! Thank you Rolling Stone! Amazing. Everyone put down the hateorade!

jill hives | 2/20/2007, 5:11 pm EST

they’re young and popular - r.s. needs to move copies if they’re to stay in business, and young is always cooler than old in the pop-culture racket.
i’ve never heard a fall out boy song - i have no opinion of their music, and think they look goofy in that picture.
but even if you hate the cover, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any good stories inside the issue, right?
now go to your room!

GET OVER IT | 2/20/2007, 5:10 pm EST

This is the music of today. Wouldn’t you be bored crazy reading interviews of the same people over and over? We are no longer living in the times of Led Zeppelin or Bob Dylan. Move on.

Wayne | 2/20/2007, 5:07 pm EST

First of all,um, anonymous, I understand the appeal of Fall Out Boy and that they deserve coverage. I really do. They deserve a cover. But do we need endless updates? Does there have to be some sort of story within the covers of each goddamn issue? They’re popular, but they’re a fad. Motley Crue was this popular, do you think Nikki Sixx was interviewed every fucking issue? Spice Girls were this popular, but RS used to know when a passing thing was a passing thing. FOB have a #1 album, so what? I don’t expect RS to do covers all about reuniting bands, even if a couple of them are pioneering ones, but how about STORIES instead of puff pieces. The current issue is GREAT. The guitar gods piece is really good. That’s a good story. Plus, John Mayer and Fruciante make popular music. Everyone wins. Seriously, if any huge act deserves this kind of treatment, it’s Timberlake. Grammy appearance, movie coming out, gossip page appeal, tour undererway, acclaimed appearance on SNL. He’s been on the cover recently and it would be more appropriate to have him. For me, this was the time to have either a cover of The Police or, if something more current is warranted, the Dixie Chicks. The Dixie Chicks would have provided a STORY. Fall Out Boy will provide SOUNDBITES and promotional puffery, most of which we’ve already had to suffer through onthis blog, and in Wentz’s interview in THE CURRENT ISSUE. (trust me, his outrage over the album leak will be in the cover story, too)

Steve | 2/20/2007, 5:05 pm EST

Wow. Why do you even bother continuing to publish this magazine?

Somewhere, God just killed a kitten.

May | 2/20/2007, 4:59 pm EST

Obviously its because they have a new album coming out guys. Hello? Publicity? That’s what magazines are for.

Jen | 2/20/2007, 4:59 pm EST

WTF is wrong with you haters. just let them be.

Trance | 2/20/2007, 4:58 pm EST

rolling stone, listen to your readers, we hate fall out boy.

Space Pen | 2/20/2007, 4:55 pm EST

WHY GOD WHY

anonymous | 2/20/2007, 4:54 pm EST

obviously you guys dont understand that the magazine is just trying to appeal to a wide variety of musical taste and fall out boy is hot in the music scene right now. and they are a great band. so give them a break.

metalkills | 2/20/2007, 4:53 pm EST

the FOB haters bandwagon is almost full, better get on while you can

anonymous | 2/20/2007, 4:40 pm EST

God, stop putting awful bands on the cover! You guys are supposed to have taste in music…clearly you don’t though.

Alec Blaine | 2/20/2007, 4:39 pm EST

I love Fallout Boys.

jon | 2/20/2007, 4:39 pm EST

Hey give it a break guys. Sure Modest Mouse and Bloc Party both just released albums, the later being pretty amazing. Sure the counting crows are working on a new album. And naturally Arcade Fire are also putting out a new album. All of these things should be trumped by a group of ass clowns who have no talent, oh and panic at the disco also. Thank God Bloc got off that tour, thank god for small favors. Oh yeah the police reunited also…..Ra Ra Fall Out Boy…..one less subsciption to renew next year.

Justin | 2/20/2007, 4:34 pm EST

umm, hello… police reunion anyone??

Jeff | 2/20/2007, 4:10 pm EST

Here’s a cover story worth printing:

According to gunsnroses.com, Chinese Democracy still has a release date of March 6th.

Hey Rolling Stone/Liz Goodman…how about an update? Throw us a frickin bone and do some detective work! Thanks.

J-Odo | 2/20/2007, 4:08 pm EST

Okay…fall out boy is the shit..get over it guys..i mean the day there album come out was the day havoc entered the C.D stores…they have made history and you can’t go back in time…emo is the new pop..and we cant do anything about it…SO GET OVER YOURSELFS

danny | 2/20/2007, 4:07 pm EST

wow,nothing but garbage.

NYC Nate | 2/20/2007, 4:04 pm EST

Hmmmm. Maybe we can get some Public Enemy for the next issue in lieu of their upcoming tour?!? And has Bad Brains ever made an issue cover?

JudasConstant | 2/20/2007, 4:02 pm EST

Can’t you guys throw me a bone? At least put some good covers between the emo bands. I only got one OK one. I’m crying on the inside.

Santa Deus | 2/20/2007, 3:54 pm EST

I hate guys who pretend to be like girls just to get girls..wait isnt that a song.

eric probola | 2/20/2007, 3:53 pm EST
