- Interpol have apparently finished work on their new album. The band, who recorded their as-of-yet-untitled third album in New York, are currently mixing it in London, and according to guitarist Daniel Kessler, the record reveals a more “open” attitude. “With this record, I think, anything goes,” Kessler reportedly said. “It sounds like our tunes, but there’s a lot more atmosphere and sound in general, rather than just filling it up with guitars all the time.”

Performers include: Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris and Brad Paisley.
- Congratulations to our very own resident pop culture poet Rob Sheffield! Rob wrote an extraordinary memoir/guide to life, Love Is A Mixtape, which has landed at Number 19 on The New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction best seller list. Get yourself a copy and help Rob break into the Top Ten, then read it and thrive.

What is it with Foxy and beauty-emporium-inspired violence? She’s already on probation for a previous incident with her manicurist.
- Check out a new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club song, “Weapon of Choice.” The word is they’ve traded in their obvious Jesus and Mary Chain jones for a Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver vibe, so obviously that’s horrifying. [via Stereogum]
